CRYSTAL POV
My chest tightened again. Because I had seen that.
"They're angry," I said quietly.
"They're cruel, they were pretending to like you earlier," he replied quietly. "There's a difference."
Silence fell between us again.
Because a part of me didn't want to accept that. Didn't want to believe that the people I had laughed with, trusted, and sat with every day, could turn on me like that so easily.
But another part of me, the part that heard their words this morning, and yesterday night.
The part that saw the way they looked at me just now, knew he wasn't wrong.
I looked away slowly, my chest rising and falling unevenly as I tried to calm myself again.
"I don't have anyone else here," I admitted, the words slipping out before I could stop them.
