  RYAN POV   Just a single glance at her, and everything inside me tightened in a way I couldn't explain.   I exhaled slowly, steadying myself before speaking.   "Today," I said, my voice calm, but held so much authority that shook the walk, "will be different."   That got their attention.   A few students straightened in their seats, curiosity moving across their faces, while others exchanged quick glances.
