CHAPTER FOUR

CHLOE POV Running into the cafe, I bumped into alot of people apologizing as I go. I pleaded with the lady first in line, telling her about my emergency and how urgent I need the coffee in time. Luckily, she let me cut in front of her. I thanked her after placing my orders. Everything was package in a larger box for easy movement. I rushed back like a cat on hot bricks. Panting as I keep the coffee and cake on the arrogant man's table. I feel his heated gaze on my bare back, sending uneasy chills down my spine. Carefully and mindfully, I unbox everything except the nine cake boxes. Standing up, I meet his gaze head on. Will that be all Sir, If yes, I'll like to proceed to other tasks. He hums, taking a sip from the espresso. As if struck with a bright idea, he grins, causing my inside to rumbles. I keep a blank expression, I'll never give him the satisfaction of even thinking he has a grip over me. Miss Alexander, I'd like you to distribute this cakes (tilting his head slightly to the box) among workers, make sure you distribute everything and you are not allowed to partake in them. I also want those reports on my desk by morning, is that taken? Without giving him any attention, I carried the box, leaving his office. Not Today Grey, I know you want to break me but I won't give in easily nor will I apologize for standing up for myself. I enter the printing branch of the enterprise, distributing each cake as I thanked them for their hardwork. This man wants to take blood from me, who knows if he's married to that b***h in my previous life, she's sure as hell happy to punish me now that she's a deity. I was exhausted from all the distribution. I head back to my office, print series of survey cards. I plan on using them to get quick response instead of asking my questions, one person at a time. I printed a bunch lot of the paper. I sigh, another running around, I told myself in misery. I went to each branch, distributing each paper. I told them it is a call to action survey, to enlighten Mr Grey about what they need, want or request. This way most employees were interested and filled it with utmost sincerity dropping it in the box I provided. After collecting every box from each branch. I piled them up, ready to move back up when I remembered the gardening. Looking over to my wristwatch, it is already pass 4pm. s**t!!!, I exclaimed rushing outside to meet them. Luck was on my side, they had already packed and were about to go when I arrived. Panting as if I ran cross country. Swallowing hard, I breath out. I told them about Mr Tristan's request and the urgency of it. Each man grumbling and murmuring something or the other which I paid no attention to because that man is a pain. I don't blame them nagging. They pick up their tools and equipment, going east they begin to work. I pack the boxes in the elevator and head up. At least, I share the private elevator since I work under the boss and have to be on time. Imagine waiting in line with all these boxes after running all those errands. -------- In my space, I carefully arranged each box where I could easily reach for it. Tristan was gone before I return, so happily, it's just me and my thoughts. I read each survey, highlighting and writing down each recurrent and new answer to the questions. It was boring, and I was getting sleepy. Glancing over the clock, it was already 6:37pm. Just few more documents Chloe, you can do it. Occasionally motivating myself. I reviewed all the documents and carefully arranged it in Mr Tristan's office. Yawning, I pack up and leave. Cursing my luck for working with an ungrateful, self centred man. I even missed lunch, the thought of food clouding my mind and I knew I had to get home quick. The street is filled with chatter, everyone going to and fro. I walk along the dim lit street, it was calm and peaceful. My favourite ice-cream truck is still open. I smiled as I walk towards the truck, humming all the day's stress away. I got a medium sized cup of white chocolate ice-cream. I sit in an open space, watching everyone go about their lives like it was still bright outside. The distant chatting feels like work tension and I am at peace away from it. I take the cab home, then went straight to bed after taking a quick bath. Tomorrow will be different, I'll try my best until it's enough to keep that grumpy man in his space. With that thought I doze off. ------------------ You're late, he thundered causing me to jump off my skin. I am sorry sir, I didn't know how I slept in, It won't happen again, I plead even though I was just no more than 13 minutes late, I was so tired from yesterday that my body felt heavy. Opening his laptop, he glance my way. I am expecting a guest today, in fact, she's more than a guest. If by any chance I am not around to see her, ask her wait for me ok?, he sternly say with no emotion on his face. Yes sir, but what is her name I asked. He just gave me a disdain look before gesturing me to leave, I take the hint and exist his office without muttering any word. At least he didn't usher more task or complain about my coming late. He seems to be in a better mood, was it because of his guest. I really couldn't care less, just relieved he didn't go all grumpy on me today. Smiling, I go on my daily activity, smooth and relaxed. I plan his schedule and meetings for the day, keeping track of everything. I made his schedule so stress free. Judging from his face, I think he likes it. Showing him how I planned his activities, he gave me a curious look which made me explain why I had done it that way. Well, the brain is more relaxed and calculative at early period Of the day, that's why I set the outside meeting in the morning and the company's at noon because it's less about deals and more about improvement plus you are having a guest, so it is more convenient. He jUst nods and approves it. All in company meetings were set to noon, while all stressful, hectic meeting was scheduled for the morning which means I am boss free for the next 5 to 6 hours, grinning as I inwardly celebrate. He clears his desk, he was all set for the meeting ushering me to keep his guest occupied and meet their demand. I simply nod as I accompany him, the ride in the elevator felt long and intense. This man is suffocating me with his aura, can't you just let you guard down. I rolled my eyes behind him, as he keep piling requests in form of an order. The door slides open, revealing the big work space. Everyone stopped what they where doing, looking at him. Most woman drool over him, if only they know. I actually feel sorry for them, don't get me wrong. He's everything a woman wants, rich, handsome, and confident but not me. This demon is an arrogant, self centred dude, I wish he gets stuck in traffic after his meeting and not get back on time. The casually throw irritating look my way. I'm like hey girl, I don't want him, why the hate. The atmosphere was tense, filled with lust, intimidation and admiration. Almost freezing me in spot. We got to the park, he hands me a letter and a small box. Open it on your office miss Alexander, he said before departing. I watch the car zoom off, still taken aback by his act. Looking down at the letter curious, I walk back to my space. Walking back, I hear alot of whispering and murmuring as I go. I decided to ask Blair, why the chaos. She smiled and said Mr Grey do not share an elevator with anyone apart from his friend or sister, so the employees think you might either be dating or share a close relationship. I rolled my eyes, shaking my head in mockery. The only relationship we will be having is if he decides to go to the hospital and I deliver flowers, wishing him a slow recovery, I thought to myself. I smiled and told Blair I had some business to complete. We both been getting close by the moment and she's super nice. I entered the elevator and head up. Casually sitting down, after completing my morning task. I look at the letter and decide to open it. Taking a sip from my latte, I read it. It reads; This is for yesterday, just accept, It's the least I can do, you're welcome.. Is this an apology or a thank you message, this man is just complicated, I thought to myself while opening the box. It was a beautiful butterfly hairpin, it looks like my necklace but more beautiful. Adorned with diamonds and stones. It glitters as the light reflects it. I looked at it in awe, its breath taking. At that moment, I hear the elevator Chim. Slowly sliding open, it was a .....
