Chapter 4

638 Words
The next morning, I woke up and felt the breeze come in my window and smelt the salt water in the air. It took me a few minutes to remember where I was. Then I did and knew that I needed to get up and ready to start the day. After getting myself ready, I headed to Ruby's room. When I was by the door, I heard the sound of her sweet giggles. When I looked into the room I saw Ruby on the floor in her pajamas playing with her dolls. Then I noticed the person sitting next to her on the floor. My eyes looked over the body in aww. It was none other than her father Chase. He was in sweat pants and a short sleeve shirt that hugged him in all the right places. Every muscle in his upper body was pushing onto the fabric and leaving its outline. He was a very handsome man to look at. My trance was interrupted by Ruby running over to me. "Good morning Lilly. Want to play dolls with daddy and me?" I smiled down at her. She had the cutest smile and red curly hair. The cutest little girl I think I have ever seen. "Yes, Lilly we can play for a little but then we must get ourselves ready for the day. " I sat down on the floor with them and Chase looked at me and smiled. "Good morning, How was your first night's sleep?" Chase asked me. "It was very good thank you. This is truly a beautiful home you have and the views of the ocean are amazing." I replied back to him. We both turned our attention to Ruby and playing with her. We played for awhile before Chase stated he needed to get to work. That was also my cue to get Ruby dressed and ready for the day. After she was dressed and headed down for breakfast. While she ate, she talked about all of her favorite things to do in the area. Her favorite being going to the beach with her daddy. Ruby told me they haven't done that in a long time because her daddy works alot. I felt a pain in my heart at the sadness in her voice. I know she truly misses spending time with her dad and needs to have him in her life more. It was probably something that was hard on both of them. Ruby was only four years old and was clearly a bright child. She seemed very interested in learning and clearly has already been learning her basic skills. She knew the alphabet, colors, and shapes. There were times that I noticed she knew a few words but had trouble pronouncing them. Chase must be proud of his little girl and her accomplishments. We spent the day going for walks, playing, she took a nap, and then we danced and sang along to music. It was such a fun day and I knew my heart was already stolen by this little girl. As the days went by we fell into a routine. We would get up and play dolls, then dressed, breakfast, and the rest of the day was some kind of adventure. It was truly amazing being this little girls nanny. I never saw her dad much, mainly at dinners if he would come home in time. He was working some big cases and spent most time on those cases and not much at home. Before I knew it a month passed by and I felt like I have always been here. It was now summer and I was looking forward to taking Ruby to the beach. I didn't realize that this would be the season that things started changing for me and my place within this family.
