(Colten’s POV)
We walked through the front door of the orphanage and started toward Alexandria’s room. That was, until I got shoved out of the way and pushed into the kitchen — a woman screaming, “Lex, run!”
Wait—what the hell is happening? And how does she know Lex?
I feel Blaze surge forward as my teeth and claws start to elongate. No one hurts my mate. But before I can go after this woman, my mate jumps in front of me, trying to stop me. Alexandria’s eyes shine purple as she tries to calm me down. She turns to the woman and says something that makes me freeze.
