Chapter 16
Bella pov
its only been just 4 days since i came here and he has already redid my room, giving me everything that i had needed, i loved it, then When i woke up this morning, He told me he wanted to to take me somewhere, after we ate breakfast and he introduced me to everyone, I hurried to shower and get dressed, in jeans with a pull over baby blue shirt, He asked if i was ready, i nodded then we took off to outside, getting into his car, I didn't know where we were going, but once we got there,
My eyes got huge, a freaking carnival, i almost ran toward it, but i didn't i've only been two two of these things, but i couldn’'t stay long, i had to sneak out and go, and then hed home before anyone knew i was out, We rode so many rides, and then the pirate ship, ohh i didn't like that one at all, my face was pale this i knew, it made me feel sick, Brady laughed so hard that i thought he might fall on the, ground,
We were walking around looking at everyone else having a blast, we ate cotton candy, and other things, i was having a wonderful time,
“I hate to do this to you bella, but i have to head to the bathroom,” I laughed and told him i would wait right here, since the bathrooms were just right across from the horses that we were looking at, All thought the carnival i felt like we were being watched, i wasn't sure who could it be, And i was hoping it wasn't Simon, i was praying to the moon goddess it wasn't him, I saw the bumper cars, so i decided to watch them ride the cars,
Besides, how long could a guy stay in a bathroom, walking over there i stood by the rails to watch the kids ride around, the kids where laughed and joking around as they bumped into each other, than i heard his voice, the one voice i thought i would never hear agian, that fucker found me, s**t, He was the last person i ever wanted to see, when he walked closer to my, i felt my heart drop, i didn't want to talk to him, i didn't want to see him, why was he here,
Bora why are you hear alone, don't tell me you couldn't find someone to come with you, well im here now, i want to talk,”
Before i could step away, he grabbed my wrist, i cringed when he touched me, yanking my arm free from him, i said,
"My name is Bella now," I told him firmly. "I changed it, and I like it a lot better."
He barely acknowledged what I said. "I want you back," he said, his voice filled with regret.
I let out a tired sigh. "No."
His eyebrows pulled together. "No?" he repeated.
"I don't want to go back to you, Reman. My life has changed. I'm happy now."
I tried walking back toward the restrooms, knowing Brady would be coming out any second, but Reman stepped in front of me again, refusing to let me leave.
"You don't mean that," he insisted. "You're just angry."
"I'm not angry anymore," I replied. "I'm done."
Then he reached for me. Before his hand could touch me, another hand grabbed his wrist. Brady. His voice was calm, but the warning behind it was unmistakable.
"Take your hand off my wife."
Reman slowly looked at Brady before jerking his hand away. "This doesn't concern you."
"It concerns me the moment you touch my wife."
The air between them became so tense I thought someone would throw the first punch. I stepped closer to Brady, hoping he understood without me saying a word that I hadn't come over here willingly. I had been waiting for him the entire time.
Eventually, Reman backed away.
"This isn't over," he muttered before disappearing into the crowd.
I released the breath I'd been holding. "I hope that's the last time I ever see him."
Brady looked down at me, his eyes softening. "It will be if I have anything to say about it."
His words made warmth spread through my chest. After leaving the carnival, Brady took me to a place called Waffle House. I'd never been there before. I ordered a steak omelet filled with peppers, covered in melted cheese, with a side of buttery grits. The very first bite made my eyes widen.
"Oh my goddess..."
Brady chuckled. "That's good?"
I nodded while taking another bite. "This is amazing."
"I had a feeling you'd like it."
"I could probably make this at home..."
He raised an eyebrow."But?"
"But I think I could make it even better."
He laughed. "I don't doubt that for a second."
For the first time all evening, I forgot about Reman. When we finally returned home, Brady walked me to the door connecting our bedrooms. He rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
"Listen... I know I said we'd sleep in separate bedrooms until you're pregnant..."
He paused. "But... would you stay in my room tonight?" His voice softened. "I promise I won't try anything funny. And if I do, you have my full permission to kick me as hard as you can."
I couldn't help smiling. I stepped closer until my arms wrapped around his neck Looking into his beautiful eyes, I gently pressed my lips against his. The kiss only lasted a heartbeat before I pulled back.
"Are you sure about that?" I whispered. "Can you really handle me lying beside you all night?"
His throat bobbed as he swallowed. "I'll survive."
I laughed softly. "Let me shower first. I'll be right back."
I slipped into my room and quietly closed the connecting door behind me. Standing beneath the warm water, I let it wash away the stress from the day. Only one thing still weighed heavily on my heart. Storm. It had been almost three days since I'd heard my wolf. I missed her terribly. "I wish you were here," I whispered.
Suddenly… "I don't know why you need me. You've been doing just fine without me."
I nearly screamed. "STORM!"
Relief flooded through me so quickly that tears burned my eyes. "I've missed you so much!"
She laughed inside my mind.
"I know. I've missed you too." "Are you okay?"
"I'm healing... just like you are." She paused. "You do realize Brady is our second-chance mate, don't you?"
"I thought he was... but I wasn't completely sure."
"He knows."
"What?"
"He knows we're mates."
My heart skipped. "He's just hiding it very well."
I leaned against the shower wall. "He asked me to sleep beside him tonight."
Sue practically howled with excitement. "Finally!"
I rolled my eyes. "You really are impossible."
"No... I'm just impatient."
After my shower, I brushed my hair until it was soft and dry. Normally I slept in one of Brady's oversized shirts. Not tonight. Since I'd be sleeping beside him, I chose a cute pajama set with a soft pullover top and matching shorts. It wasn't revealing.
Just comfortable.
I wanted Brady to know I trusted him, but I also wanted him to understand that wanted to take things slowly. I wanted to know him. Really know him. Even though...
Goddess help me… I wanted him.
"Come on..." Storm whined. "Just one little lick."
My eyes nearly popped out of my head. "Storm!"
"Just to see what he tastes like."
"You've completely lost your mind."
"You don't know that."
"I am not licking him."
"Spoilsport."
I couldn't help laughing. My wolf had officially gone crazy. Taking a deep breath, I reached for the connecting door. Just as my fingers wrapped around the doorknob… I froze. A woman's voice drifted through the room.
"I want you."
My heart instantly dropped. Brady sounded irritated. "I want you out of my room right now. I didn't ask you to come here."
"But Alpha..." Her voice turned sweet. "It's been so long. Just one night. I don't care if you're married. I can be your mistress."
My blood instantly boiled. "She'll never know."
Every instinct screamed at me to burst through that door and rip her head clean off .Instead… I forced myself to stay still. I needed to know what Brady would do. Would he throw her out? Or would he keep her? My heart pounded so loudly I was sure they could hear it through the door.
"Listen, Bonnie," Brady said firmly. "That week between us was exactly that. a week. It never should've happened. I was lonely, and I never promised you anything." Silence. "I'm married now."
She laughed. "Married? You're not even marked, Alpha. Is she really your mate?"
My stomach twisted.
"If all you need is a child," Bonnie continued, "I can give you pups. You don't need that little…"
She never got to finish. "I think you need to leave," Brady growled. "If you don't walk out that door right now, I'll throw you out of this pack myself." The room fell deathly quiet. "When I promised my wife I'd be loyal and faithful, I meant every word." His voice became ice cold. "Now get the hell out of my room."
Bonnie let out an angry huff. "You'll regret this, Alpha." The venom in her voice sent chills through me. "You'll regret choosing her over me."
The bedroom door slammed shut. I stood there for several long seconds, staring at the doorknob. He had done exactly what I hoped he would. He defended me. He chose me. So why did my chest still hurt?
Because...He'd been with her. Had they shared that bed? Had she slept in his arms? How many women had there been before me?
The questions wouldn't stop. Slowly, I lowered my hand from the doorknob. Tonight… I couldn't do it. The excitement I'd felt only minutes ago had completely disappeared. Instead of opening Brady's door, I quietly walked back into my own room. I locked the connecting door.
Turn off the light. Slipped beneath the blankets. Tears stung the corners of my eyes as I stared into the darkness. He hadn't done anything wrong. In fact...He'd done everything right. But tonight, my heart simply couldn't handle any more emotions. Maybe tomorrow will be different.
