Chapter 7

Bora's POV

It had been three days since Jora disappeared. Three long days of pretending my best friend was dead. The kingdom had searched everywhere for her. Warriors searched the woods, the river, the caves near the border, and even neighboring territories. They found more drops of blood and a few footprints, but nothing that led them to Jora. Eventually, the king called off the search. Everyone believed she was dead. I didn't. At least, I prayed she wasn't.

Every night, I slept with my phone beneath my pillow, waiting for a call from an unknown number. Nothing. No mindlink. No phone call.

No message. Nothing. I kept telling myself that was good.

Silence meant she was being careful. Silence meant she was putting distance between herself and Simon. Silence meant she was alive.,At least, that's what I needed to believe. I was sitting on my bed staring at my phone when someone knocked on my door.

My entire body stiffened.

"Who is it?"

"It's me."

Ramen.

My wolf immediately growled

I closed my eyes. "Not now."

"Bora, you've been avoiding me for three days."

"I've been grieving."

"I know."

His voice softened from the other side of the door.,"But something else is wrong."

I didn't answer. "Bora, please."

I hated the way he said my name. Like he cared. Like I mattered.

It would have been so much harder if Ramen was nicer and never betrayed me. If he had never lied to me . If he had never humiliated me. If he'd given me one good reason to love him. But he hadn't.

At least, not one that I knew of. That made what I was about to do hurt even easier . I walked over and opened the door. Ramen stood there with his hands shoved into his pockets.

"Can I come in?"

I stepped aside. He entered, and I closed the door behind him.

For several seconds, neither of us spoke Finally, he turned toward me. "What's going on?"

"Nothing."

"Stop lying."

My eyes snapped toward him. His expression softened. "Please."

I swallowed. "I can't do this right now."

"Do what?"

"This."

I motioned between us. His face changed. "What are you talking about?"

I couldn't breathe. My wolf started pacing anxiously inside my head.

“Do it”

I ignored her. I had to.

Ramen stepped closer. "Bora?"

"We need to talk about the bond."

He froze. "What about it? Are you still mad at me for sleeping around? i thought you had forgiven me?”

"I don't want it." The truth nearly choked me.

His face went blank. But I saw the small smirk before he cleared his face "What?"

"I don't want this bond."

"Bora, you're upset because of Jora." Yeah that is what he would think, But i have thought about this for a long time now,

"This isn't about Jora."

Another truth: He stared at me. "Then what the hell is this about?"

"I don't want you." The words ripped through me. My wolf pranced around, “you finally did it”.

Ramen took a step backward like I'd slapped him. "You don't mean that."

"I do."

"No."

His voice hardened. "No, you don't."

"Ramen"

"Three days ago, you were grieving your best friend. Now suddenly you're telling me you don't want me?" His eyes narrowed. "Something happened."

"No."

"Someone threatened you."

I rolled my eyes, Yeah he would think that. Ramen stepped closer. "Who?"

"No one."

"Bora."

"Leave me alone."

"Tell me who's threatening you."

"No one is threatening me!” “ But your giving me a freaking headache,

I shouted it louder than I intended. He stared at me. I turned away.

Damn it. I was making this worse.

"Bora..."

His voice was quieter now. "Look at me."

I didn't want to. that was the last thing I wanted to do is keep looking at him.

"Look at me."

Slowly, I turned.

His eyes searched mine.,"If you truly don't want me, say it while looking me in the eyes."

My wolf smirked . “Do it.”

I clenched my fists. "I don't want you."

His jaw tightened. "Say you don't love me."

"I don't love you."

Pain flashed across his face. I nearly laughed. I wanted to throw him out. I wanted to tell him to get the heck out of my life,

"I'm sorry but Not sorry, you have caused me so much pain,” “I don't want this bond anymore.

Ramen shook his head. "No." He headed toward the door.

"Wait."

He stopped. My heart was hammering.

If I didn't do it now, I never would. "Ramen..."

He slowly turned around. Tears burned my eyes.

"I, Bora..."

My wolf screamed.

YES!!

My knees almost buckled. Ramen's face paled.

"Bora, don't."

"I, Bora, reject…"

"Stop!" His voice thundered through the room. I jumped. Ramen crossed the distance between us. "Don't finish that sentence."

"I have to."

"No, you don't."

"Yes, I do."

"Why?"

"Because you lied to me for years, you cheated on me and tried to hide it. I don't want you anymore, I don't even feel the bond with you anymore!" Before he could stop me the words slipped out before I could stop them.

“I Bora rejecte.you Ramen as my mate for life,” This bond has been broken since the day you decided to sleep around,

Silence. Ramen stared at me. "What did you just say?"

I sighed, im not going to take this back, "You heard what i said, Accept the rejection Ramen"

"No." He shook his head. "You just rejected me."

"Yes I did, now accept it."

"You're lying." He stepped closer. "You didn't mean it,?"

Yes I did.".

His nostrils flared. “Listen to me Bora, think about this, you are not rejecting me” "Bora."

"Stop asking questions!" We stared at each other. I could hear my own heartbeat. Finally, Ramen spoke.

"Does this have something to do with that girl that was in my bed?"

“"Yes and the others as well, and with your lying, and scheming behind my back. I'm done Ramen,”

That was enough. Ramen saw it."What happened to you have changed?”

"Nothing. happened to me, i just learned i didn't need a man that cheats and lies thats all,”

He grabbed my shoulders. "Bora, talk to me."

“Ive said enough,”

"Why?"

"Because you just got yourself rejected,

The second the words left my mouth, Ramen went completely still.

Damn it. "Bora..."

I backed away. Get out of my room and leave before i call the guards to drag your ass out of here."

"Not a chance."

"Ramen.." "I need you to leave."

"I'm not leaving."

"Get out!"

"No."

"GET OUT!"

My wolf growled as tears poured d down my cheeks they weren't for Ramen, they were for my friend Jora,

Ramen stared at me for several seconds. Then something in his expression changed. He wasn't angry anymore. He was suspicious. And that was worse.

"Fine."

He walked toward the door. Before leaving, he looked back at me.

"I'm not accepting your rejection."

My heart stopped. "What?"

"You didn't finish it."

"Ramen—"

"And you're not going to." He opened the door.

"I don't know what you're doing this Bora, His eyes hardened. "But I'm going to find out."

“I told you why, jackass, and i have finished the rejected, if you didn't hear me the first time, Let me say it again,

“I Bora rejected you Ramen as my mate for life, you are no longer my mate, we have no bond anymore,

He looked at me then he left. I slammed the door behind him and locked it. My legs gave out. I slid down the door until I hit the floor.

"What do I do now?"

My wolf smiled inside me. Forget him.

"I Will"

"I know."

““He'll try and get revenge.””

"That's exactly what I'm afraid of."

I buried my face in my hands. I had almost ruined everything.

Simon couldn't find out Ramen was here. I needed to finish the mission. Then I needed to disappear. Fast. My phone suddenly vibrated. I froze. Slowly, I pulled it from my pocket. UNKNOWN NUMBER.

My heart nearly stopped. I answered immediately.

"Hello?" Silence. "Jora?" Nothing. "Jora, is that you?" For several seconds, all I heard was breathing.

Then her voice came through the phone. "Bora."

I covered my mouth to stop myself from crying. "Oh, thank the Goddess."

"I'm okay."

"Where are you?",The second I asked, I shook my head. "No. Don't tell me. I'm sorry. Don't tell me anything."

"I wasn't going to."

Despite everything, I laughed softly. "Good."

Her voice became serious. "Bora, listen to me." Something about her tone made my stomach twist.

"What?"

"I found something out."

"What happened?"

"Simon wasn't only planning to kill me."

My blood turned cold. "Jora..."

"He's planning to kill you too."

I closed my eyes. Deep down, I'd already known. "When?"

"As soon as you finish the mission."

My hand tightened around the phone. "Are you sure?"

"Yes."

I heard movement on her end. "Bora, you can't stay there for two weeks."

"But the mission.."

"Forget the damn mission!"

She lowered her voice. "Simon already knows something is wrong."

My heart stopped. "What do you mean?"

"He knows I escaped."

"How?"

"I don't know."

She paused. "But that's not the worst part."

My stomach twisted. "What could possibly be worse?"

"He's sending someone to the kingdom."

I stood up. "Who?"

"I don't know."

"When?"

"He's probably already on his way."

I walked toward the window and looked down at the castle gates.

Guards stood at their usual posts. Everything looked normal.

Too normal.

"Bora, you need to leave."

"I can't."

"Yes, you can."

"I haven't finished what Simon sent us here to do."

"You're still worried about Simon's mission?"

"If I leave now, he'll know I betrayed him."

"He already plans on killing you!"

"I know."

My voice cracked. "But I need time."

"Time for what?"

I looked toward my bedroom door.."To figure out how to get out without anyone following me."

Jora went silent. Then she whispered,

"Be careful."

"I will."

"And Bora?"

"Yeah?"

"Don't trust anyone."

The line went dead. I stared at the phone. Don't trust anyone.

That was easy enough. I'd spent most of my life learning not to trust people. But there was one person I was starting to wonder about.

Ramen. Maybe rejecting him wasn't enough anymore.

A sudden commotion outside caught my attention. I moved closer to the window. The castle gates were opening. A black SUV slowly drove through. My blood ran cold. I didn't recognize the vehicle.

But I recognized the man who stepped out of it. My phone slipped from my hand and hit the floor.

"No..."

He looked up toward the castle. Then, almost as if he knew exactly where I was standing, his eyes lifted toward my window. A slow smile spread across his face. I stumbled backward. Simon hadn't sent just anyone. He'd sent his most trusted killer. And if that man was here…
