12 signing

Chapter 12 Alpha Brady POV When she listed her conditions, I had to admit they were reasonable. Well... most of them. The one that said I couldn't sleep with anyone else until the baby was born? I definitely didn't like that. But she didn't need to know that. It wasn't like she was my mate. She was simply the woman who had agreed to have my child. That was all this arrangement was. At least, that's what I kept telling myself. "I agree," I said. Then I picked up my pen and added a few conditions of my own. Two could play this game. Maybe I was being a little petty, but that's how men are sometimes. When I finished writing, I slid the folder across my desk. "Your turn." She opened it and began reading every single page carefully. I couldn't help but smirk. Most women who came into this office never bothered reading the contract. They were too eager to sign it and collect the money. She was different. She read every word. Finally, she looked up at me with one eyebrow raised. My conditions read: We will spend time getting to know each other. While you're pregnant with my child, you will not sleep with other men. Once you're pregnant, you'll move into my room. I want to know the moment the baby starts kicking and moving. You will eat healthy food and drink healthy beverages. Whenever you leave the pack house or go for a run, someone will accompany you for your protection. If anyone from your past comes looking for you, I'll tell them I have no idea who you are. After the baby is born, you may name him or her, and you're free to bond with the child however you choose. After the birth, you may stay with the pack or leave. Once the baby is born, you will receive the agreed payment. In public, you will act as my Luna—during meetings, pack events, and around the pack members. In private, you're free to live your life however you want. Final Clause: If you are not pregnant after one year, this contract becomes void, and you are free to leave. She read every sentence without skipping a line. Smart woman. When she finally finished, she picked up the pen and signed her name. I signed beneath hers before locking the contract inside my safe where no one else would ever read it. "So," I asked, leaning back in my chair, "when would you like to start getting to know each other?" "Tomorrow," she answered. "I'm sure either you, your sister, or your Beta could give me a tour of the pack. And... who exactly will be going on runs with me?" "My sister will stay with you most of the time. I can already tell she likes you, and I think the two of you will get along well." I glanced toward Mortisha. "You can head off and get some rest if you'd like." She nodded before quietly leaving the office. "When my sister isn't available," I continued, "my Beta, Skiler, will go with you." She gave me a suspicious look. "No funny business," I added with a grin. "He reports everything back to me." That earned me another raised eyebrow. "And if neither of them can go, then I'll be the one running with you." She nodded. "So tomorrow you'll give me the tour?" "I'll show you the pack grounds today," I corrected. "Tomorrow we'll go shopping. You're going to need more clothes." She looked down at the oversized shirt she was wearing. "You can't keep walking around the pack dressed like that." Standing from my chair, I walked around my desk and held out my hand. "If we're going to pretend we're mates, we might as well start now." She stared at my hand for several long seconds. She clearly wasn't thrilled by the idea. Eventually, she slipped her hand into mine. Together, we walked out of the Alpha House. Several pack members immediately noticed us. Good. That was exactly what I wanted. Maybe if everyone accepted her early, there'd be less stress on her. Maybe...Maybe that would make getting pregnant easier. "We'll start over here," I said. I pointed toward a large open field where dozens of wolves were training. "Those are the training grounds for new recruits. Once they graduate, they move over there.",I pointed toward another, much larger arena where experienced warriors sparred with one another. "That's where the senior warriors train." She watched them with genuine interest. We continued walking. "These are our vegetable gardens. Most of the fresh food the pack eats comes from here.",Rows of tomatoes, peppers, corn, beans, and squash stretched across the land. "Next to that is our flower garden." The colorful blooms swayed gently in the breeze. "And over there is the greenhouse. That's where we grow healing herbs for the hospital." She smiled softly. "It's beautiful." "It took years to build." As we continued, I pointed toward another building. "That's our gym." Further ahead stood several tall guard towers. "Our guards rotate between day and night shifts. Those houses belong to them." She followed my gaze. "We also have runners." "Runners?" "They patrol the borders every day. They inspect the fences, check for weak spots, and make sure no rogues sneak onto our land." She nodded thoughtfully. "You'll meet everyone tomorrow." We eventually turned back toward the Alpha House. "Come on." I opened the front doors for her. "I'll show you the inside." The first place we stopped was the indoor swimming pool. "I'd rather you use this pool instead of the outdoor one." "Why?" "Because the fewer questions people ask you right now, the better." She looked around at the crystal-clear water. "I want you to feel at home before the pack starts bombarding you with questions." She seemed to appreciate that. Walking farther down the hallway, I opened another set of doors. "This is the game room." Inside were pool tables, dart boards, arcade machines, computers, and comfortable couches. "The younger members spend a lot of time here." She laughed quietly. "It looks more like an entertainment center." "That's the idea." We continued down another hallway. "The gym upstairs is mostly for adults, but everyone is welcome." Next, I led her into the massive dining hall. "This is where everyone gathers for breakfast and dinner." The kitchen bustled with activity beside it. "If you ever get hungry in the middle of the night, you're welcome to come down and make yourself something." She smiled. "But honestly..." I chuckled. "You probably won't get the chance." She tilted her head. "Our omegas will insist on cooking for you." "I'll try not to spoil them." "They'll spoil you first." We walked farther until we entered the family room. A large television hung above a stone fireplace. Comfortable couches surrounded the room, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. "This is where my family spends most evenings.",I pointed toward a large leather chair near the fireplace. "That's my seat." "The Alpha chair?" I nodded. "Occupational hazard." She laughed again. It was the first genuine laugh I'd heard from her. It suited her. "There is one more place I want to show you." She looked at me curiously. "We'll need the elevator." Without letting go of her hand, I led her toward the private elevator at the end of the hallway. I had a feeling the next part of the tour was going to surprise her.
