*Chapter 3: 3 Moons To Live [205 words]*
Night 1. The moon was half full.
Roran was pacing the cabin like a caged animal. Sweat dripped down his forehead even though it was freezing.
“Don’t touch me,” he warned without looking at me. “Not yet.”
His claws kept flicking in and out.
I made soup. Chicken and vegetables. The smell filled the whole cabin. He didn’t eat.
“Why are you still here?” He finally stopped pacing and stared at me.
“Where would I go? There’s 4 feet of snow outside.” I wrapped my hands around the mug to warm them.
“You could die with me.” His voice was low.
“Then we die together.” I said it before I could think.
He stared at me for a long time. Gold eyes searching mine.
“Stupid human.”
“Stupid wolf.” I shot back.
Something in his chest cracked. Not bone. Something else. He looked away fast, jaw clenched.
The wind howled outside. 2 more nights until the full moon.
