ISABEL POV
I just stood there, barely keeping myself from folding up and crying, but some tears still found their way down my cheeks.
I scented him before I even heard his voice, now full of dark amusement.
"So you only banter words with me? Interesting" Ray said, stepping out of the shadow where had been hiding.
Quickly wiping my tears, I began to walk as fast as I could towards Ray's house. But to my annoyance, Ray kept up with me so easily, Walking by my side like we were taking a casual stroll.
"Has anyone taught you that eavesdropping on people conversation isn't a good trait?" I fumed. I refused to look at him, but I could still feel the tingling sensation of Ray staring at me.
"Why did you let her talk down at you?"He asked calmly, completely ignoring my question.
So he'd overhead all our conversation. I wasn't sure how I felt knowing that Ray heard all that.
I halt to a stop, turning around to face him.
"That's really none of you business,"I bit out.
Ray looked confused.
"You are my mate. That should make it important and my business,"He replied.
Listening to his words, an outsider would think he truly cared about me. But I knew better.
Ray was only talking about this because he knew how much it disturbed me. He'd found a weakness of mine, and he wouldn't be happy until he'd pitched and spurred at it to his heart's content.
"Did you just say your mate?"I growled. "This relationship isn't real- or have you forgotten your exact words?"
Ray gripped my arm and pulled me closer to himself, his voice reducing to a low, deadly rhythm, his gaze steady on mine as he spoke.
"As my mate, you are an addition of me. When you act weak, you also make me look weak, and I will not tolerate that."
With a smile on my lips and and rage in my gaze, I took a step closer to him, taking up his personal space.
"Coming from someone who lost a fight and position as Alpha to his younger and much weaker brother, you sure have a lot to say."
Ray's face hardened as his grip on my arm tightened the more.
"Isabel, don't push me."His voice was barely above a snarl.
I lost my smile.
"Then don't f*****g push me too,,"I snapped, pulling my arm out of his hold and walking away from him as fast as my legs could.
That son of a b***h. Who did he think he was?
At least one good thing came out of his eavesdropping - all the pain I'd felt after talking to Rachel converted into anger towards Ray.
Returning to my room, I headed straight for the shower in a bid to get ready for bed before Ray returned.
Showering with him in the room would be... Terrible, especially in my current emotional state. Lala would push until my instincts took over.
After my shower, I took one step out of the bathroom before stopping dead on my track.
Ray was already in the room, seated on the bed and staring at me. His gaze moved down the towel wrapped around my body, and my cheeks flushed.
My whole body shuddered with the sort of desire a mere look shouldn't have warranted. My n*****s pebbled beneath the towel.
I tried to tame Lala, but my desire remained. We'd been at each other's neck few minutes ago, but now I was fighting the urge to either run back to the bathroom or take a step closer to him. f**k, several steps closer to him.
I'd thought emotions only ran this high with true mates, but I'd been wrong.
Those hazel eyes burned with a lot of emotions I couldn't describe as Ray stared at me.
I couldn't run back to the bathroom. That would be me accepting defeat.
So I took a second step and entered the room, feeling the cold air move across my wet skin, causing me to shiver. Yes, it was just the air, not Ray.
Goddess, how was I going to share a room with him without doing something very stupid.
I walked around the closet, but I froze when I heard the crackling of the bed as Ray stood, followed by his footsteps behimd me.
I didn't face him. I stood completely still, my heart racing and my breath coming out Soo fast.
I felt his cool breath on the back of my neck as his chest pressed to my back.
I stilled, I burned,I-
Ray reached past me amd ipened a blood I hadn't noticed was there before pulling away, leaving me utterly confused when I noticed that the door led to another room.
"That will be your room from now on,"Ray informed me, and I finally turned to face him.
The earlier for in his eyes was gone, making me ask if it was even there in the beginning.
Ray's jaw tightened. He couldn't have looked more repelled by the idea of sharing a room with me if he tried.
"Your belongings have been moved there, and it's complete with an big bathroom, so do both of us tye favor and stay out of my own room."
And just like that, my desire for him vanished into the air.
"Of course, with pleasure, I bit out, walking into my room and slamming the door behind me."
I hated Ray Leonard with all the fibre in my bones.
