The Consequence Of Defiance

705 Words
Aliya walked for hours, her feet aching and her heart heavy. The village gave way to open fields and eventually, a dense forest. She had never felt so alone, so scared. The only sound was the rustling of leaves and the distant howling of wolves. As she walked, the silence was broken by the sound of footsteps behind her. Aliya turned to see Saleh, his face twisted in a sneer. "Well, well, well," Saleh said, his voice dripping with malice. "Look what we have here. The little runaway." Aliya tried to run, but Saleh was too quick. He caught her and spun her around, his eyes gleaming with triumph. "You're not as clever as you think you are, Aliya," Saleh said, his voice dripping with contempt. "You're just a stupid little girl who thinks she can defy her parents and get away with it." Aliya struggled against Saleh's grip, but he was too strong. He dragged her back to the village, back to her parents' house. When they arrived, Aliya's parents were waiting for her, their faces stern and unforgiving. "Where did you think you were going, Aliya?" her father demanded, his voice thundering. "You're not a child anymore. You'll do as you're told." Aliya's mother stepped forward, her eyes blazing with anger. "You'll marry Alhaji Ilu, Aliya," she said. "And you'll do it with a smile on your face." Aliya shook her head, her heart heavy with despair. But as she looked at Saleh, she felt a spark of defiance ignite within her. "I'll never marry him," Aliya said, her voice firm and resolute. "I'll never do what you want me to do." Her parents' faces turned red with rage, and they raised their hands to strike her. But Aliya was ready for them. She dodged out of the way just in time, and then she turned and ran. This time, she knew that she wouldn't be caught. This time, she knew that she would escape. As she ran, Aliya could hear her parents' shouts and curses echoing behind her. She knew that she had to keep moving, had to find a safe place to hide. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Aliya saw a light in the distance. It was a small hut, nestled on the outskirts of the village. Aliya's heart skipped a beat as she recognized the hut. It was the home of her aunt, Zainab, the one person who had always supported her dreams. With newfound hope, Aliya ran towards the hut, her heart pounding with excitement. She burst through the door, slamming it shut behind her. "Aunt Zainab!" Aliya cried, throwing herself into her aunt's arms. "I've come to you for help. I won't marry Alhaji Ilu. I won't do what my parents want me to do." Zainab's face was stern, but her eyes were warm with love and understanding. "Aliya, my dear," she said. "You're safe now. You're safe with me." But just as Aliya was starting to feel safe, there was a loud knock at the door. Zainab's eyes narrowed, and she motioned for Aliya to hide. "Who is it?" Zainab called out, her voice firm. "It's me, Saleh," a voice replied. "I've come for Aliya. She's to come with me." Zainab's face turned pale, and she looked at Aliya with fear in her eyes. "Don't worry, Aliya," she whispered. "I won't let him take you." But Aliya knew that she couldn't stay hidden forever. She had to come up with a plan, had to figure out a way to escape the village and start a new life. And so, with her aunt's help, Aliya began to make plans for her future. She knew that it wouldn't be easy, that there would be obstacles and challenges along the way. But Aliya was determined, more determined than ever. She was ready to fight for her freedom, ready to do whatever it took to escape the life that her parents had planned for her. As she hid in the shadows, listening to Saleh's angry voice outside, Aliya knew that she had made the right decision. She was ready to take control of her life, ready to forge her own path. And no one was going to stop her.
