Kael’s POV
I stepped out of my room, and the guards standing by the door instantly bowed their heads. I didn’t have anything to say to them so I walked past them. I used the staircase, and I soon found myself on the bottom stairs.
Guards loitered around, that was what they were being paid to do. We were at the bewitching hours and yet, they were still active. The last time I caught a guard sleeping while on duty, I taught him a lesson.
I needed to tell Gideon to summon Elara on my behalf. I didn’t want to do it by myself for reasons best known to me. One of the reasons was that we haven’t said a word to each other for weeks now.
