I sat in the car for at least a half-hour, reading and rereading the report. Host fooled me. Fooled everyone. He didn't have schizophrenia and had never suffered a psychotic episode, he was simply full of rage with a thirst for revenge. He knew McFadden would never be tied to the accident, and he could not bear that. I'm not sure I could either.
He was intelligent, and his psychology background undoubtedly helped him with the questionnaires Dr. Steinfeld had given him.
His whole masquerade with Amy was a sham. No doubt, Wright Detective Agency in Kansas City reported McFadden had had an affair with her. He likely hatched the plan to protect her and give him a potential insanity defense should he ever be caught. I had to admit, his plan was ingenious.
