Mark walked over, tugged at his mommy’s hand, and said softly, “Mommy, no need to go. Tod won’t expose himself. I already sent him all the information he needs.”
Amanda thought about it—true, Tod was exceptionally clever. He wouldn’t slip up. She smiled faintly. “Then there’s nothing to worry about. We can sleep soundly tonight.”
Pamela looked at her with concern. “Amanda, we can’t keep this hidden forever. Someday, I’ll go with you, and Benjamin will have to give the child back. But since both of you have feelings for Mark, if he’s willing, perhaps you can co-parent him together.”
Amanda smiled gently, touched by her mother’s worry. “Mom, things are too complicated right now. Let’s wait a little longer.”
Until she figured out her escape route, it wasn’t time yet.
