Amanda met his calm gaze and smiled faintly. “Mr. Schmidt, thank you for taking care of Mark. You should go rest now.”
She picked up the boy from his arms.
Benjamin found her words a bit strange but couldn't pinpoint exactly what was off.
He nodded slightly, then activated his electric wheelchair and left.
Only after watching him go did Amanda carry the boy into the room.
“Mark, do you need to use the bathroom?”
Mark shook his head slightly, his small face filled with complex emotions, a deep secrecy hidden in his downcast eyes.
Amanda gently stroked his head and spoke dotingly, “Mark, it's late. Time to sleep.”
“Mm.” Mark closed his eyes to rest.
