The Test

1566 Words
Reggie sits after going through the act of summoning a demon so that Aurelio can present himself. Now he has to suffer the man's high-pitched voice and questions. He loves to question people. Particularly on the history of the various outer worlds that no new hunter would ever in their wildest dream know. "If you answer three of my questions, I will give an element stone and class with three active skills." This is also why Reggie came here instead of going to Camila. She hands out classes but without element stones or skills. The worst part is that her promotion mission is a combat one. Few people will pass her test. Reggie rubs his hands, thinking about how many of these class givers are oddballs who kill testers. Aurelio and Camila are the only ones who have Archimage class. "What happens if I answer all your questions?" Reggie has a vast wealth of knowledge. He is going to use it to build a super firm. His plans are mostly fluid for now. Since he doesn't know how far the changes go. At least he doesn't have to worry about Merlin. Kali doesn't know much about him before Reggie became a Demigod-ranked Hunter. The only one who might do something is Horus, but like Reggie, he should be in an outer world trying to recreate his old power. That doesn't feel right to Reggie. His enemies wouldn't need to rebuild their power. The only reason to go back is to build a better firm and take advantage of future knowledge. Merlin is obsessed with power, so will he most likely be trying to conquer one of the Supreme Outer Worlds? Aurelio interrupts his thoughts. "I will give you this egg, it's some kind of dragon lizard thing. Some woman wants me to figure out how to hatch, but she hasn't been back in two hundred years." Reggie shakes his head in vehement refusal. He will not waste his time with a common pet. There is only one pet for him and she is waiting for him in another outer world. "Fine, then name your price." Reggie points to the elements of life and time. Aurelio has forged them into a single gem. The Caipora hesitates for a moment, then sees the element stone in Reggie's face. "Only if you give me all of yours." this continues back and forth the pair arguing values. They finally come to a consensus that if Reggie answers all his questions correctly, he will get to pick four items of his choice and he will put up all his element stones. Aurelio's beaming confidence can't wait to get started. "When was the difference between hex and curse proven? "In 1945, by Kael Summers during the battle of Sun spire." Aurelio has to use a time timer, to figure out if he is sighting the correct date. Time in outer worlds can flow differently. He stubs his toe on the corner of the desk when it comes back correct. He only has three questions to ask Reggie. As a newcomer, Aurelio is sure that he won't be able to next question after all, how do answer a question that happens outside of time? "When was the Mother born?" "The Mother is the Maidan and the source of magic, the maidan was born at the beginning of time, observed by Sojourner who marks it the forty-fifth day of her observation," Aurelio is losing not only does Reggie know the date of the observations. Reggie even cites the apocryphal book Lonmin. Which has the most widely accepted interpretation of the two sources of magic. Aurelio starts pacing around. He misses his warthog. He always thinks better while riding. Aurelio jumps "Up I got! When did I pass my master magician's promotion?" "That's a personal question. How is it historically relevant?" Reggie is looking for any clue from Aurelio, who is sitting back, not saying anything. His mouth is sealed shut. Reggie looks around the lab trying to find a clue. The master magician is famous for being one of the chief researchers in solving the Higgins flux enigma. There was also a lot of controversy surrounding the solution. Reggie just can't remember what that was exactly. At the time, Aurelio was looking for a cure for chemical ether poisoning. A favourite weapon of the Witlers. Reggie goes over the events in his head as he remembers. "You didn't!" The controversy wasn't around the solution but around the person who solved the problem. At the time Aurelio was a self-taught magician who had attended none of the legendary colleges. Not that the colleges actually teach magic rather its history across 99 outer worlds. Those were the worst five years of Reggie's life, truly a waste, well not anymore. "NO! NO! NO! How could you know that?! Cheater!" Aurelio uses ?Truth Tellers Coil? a rope of silver-white on Reggie's neck strangling the truth out of him. With fire in lips ready to shoot, "How did you know? Who told you!?" "It is in the record of Luzin academy, they directly promoted you to master for solving the enigma, which led three masters to tender their resignations in protest. One of those is my master and she never let it go that you dream walked yourself into the solution." One of Aurelio's talents lies in time magic, specifically forecasting. So having his future self visit him in a dream and tell him the answer is to most people a cheat. Having to let him down, Aurelio says, "Take what you want and leave me be." Reggie, rubbing his neck, takes the dual-element jewel. A crystal saffron flower for Jascosta and a tinkerers kit. "I want you to give me the class you have." Aurelio, bound by magic promise, has to give Reggie the Archimage class. The magic class responds to Reggie picking up eleven elements, which is more than Archimage can have. However, it can't give him a class, so the Hunter system activates. ?Hunter System Activated? 11/7 elements detected! Upgrading Class... Reggie would clap if he had two hands. He wasn't sure if there was a divine-level magician class. The whole point of getting so many elements was to hopefully push his class to the next level. Normally when a class doesn't have a higher path, the hunter system just gives bonuses like 100 per cent casting speed. Aurelio can only observe from experience. It shouldn't take this long for him to get his magic class. He uses every skill he has, but the Hunter system, as always, is beyond observation. Yet Reggie isn't. He attaches all kinds of instruments to the man. Even if it is happening in less than one second, Aurelio is a time wizard. "How do you feel?" Reggi looks around. The world is bright, and he feels ten times stronger. the system has turned his body into a magic catalyst. He can barely hold in all the magic power the human body isn't designed for this. ?Character Status? Name - Reggie Class - Primordial Magician Level - 1 ?End of Window? Reggie is certain now which of the titans he must kill. The last mission here is the Titan hunt. These are master elementals. Killing the one that matches the magician element gives them titles and extra power. He doesn't even need the skill that Aurelio has. What he needs to do now is to make sure his rating is the highest it can be. Fighting the Primordial titan is the ultimate challenge. He heads back to the arena looking to make some money and earn skills, the arena is littered with all kinds of skills. The arena has already forgotten the one-armed menace. Who killed a water salamander in a few seconds. The people may have forgotten, but not the Tallermen. The half-giant was already waving his arms for Reggie to leave. Tallermen doesn't want anything to do with Reggie. The Turag king can't come after him for denying a fighter. Plus, it is not profitable to have an asset you can't control. Tallermen runs a very well-managed establishment, and he is still out of his arse from the last time Reggie was here. "Go back to whatever money sink you came from. I don't want you here, devil! You're worse than a spiteful lover. Reggie walks around the half-giant. Currently, his stats haven't settled only when he leaves this outer world will he receive stats between 0-100. Hunters who performed poorly will have a rating between 0-30 - F. These are the most common type of hunter and makeup sixty per cent of the human population. They are no more than glorified cannon fodder. 30-40 - E ranks are perfect, as they can be trained up. The ranks further up get more and more powerful but the main divide comes between the 'S's. 40-50 - D 50-60 - C 60-70 - B 70-80 - A 80-90 - S 90-95 - SS 95-99 - SSS Reggies must get the SSS rank otherwise it will be too costly for him to solo hunt the next outer world to generate the farm he needs to create his firm and take his enemies. The thought of the others coming here with all their skills and passive maybe even items. Terrifies Reggie if one of them catches him it will probably be game over.
