Growing Stronger

1580 Words
The reason Reggie doesn't want active skills is it would mess with his primordial essence. His body is already cracking up, trying to hold itself together under the strain of the new magic power. Primordial essence that is unfocused is dangerous. This strain he feels is the catalyst of energy. Reggie will need to transform himself as essence is another form of raw magic power, but not as volatile as ether. His class has shown him the path, but he doesn't want to restrict himself to a single element. Thus, he has to take the risk of fighting the titans with no skills. His sword, at least, will allow Reggie to abuse elemental weaknesses. At the moment, his Elemental Stones are acting as individual sources. He wants to unite them. This will drastically increase the energy he is producing. The titan trial is how everyone gets their rating and subclass special traits and effects the higher one goes the better their score. To score higher than an S rating is a bare minimum, Reggie needs SSS for his plans. The traits he can get for his legendary subclass and, will let him build components to turn himself into an Archon. He first heads back to Jocasta since he isn't sure he will succeed. The least he can do is hand her one of the crystal roots she is looking for. While not explaining everything, Jacosta picks up a strange sensation from the human. Reggie explains he plans to take on the Titan as a level 1. "Why would you do that? The Titans are not a time trial, you have to kill each one." She has fought them it is much more difficult the weaker you are. "It's the only way to increase the score." Reggie is actually desperate to ensure his high score. This is the only thing he can think of as a real challenge to him. The hunter system isn't a simple power level tracking tool, it can issue missions and with his subclass at the moment. He will get at least three passive skills that can only be awarded during the person's first trial. "At least get some a skill or two, like a ?Blink?, or a ?Combat Phasing?." She doesn't want her herbal cow to disappear. This little s**t is worth his weight in blood and she at least wants him alive for now. "Can't it will pollute my gems? I'm only willing to risk it when fighting the titans, because I will use the short sword as a medium." She nods as Reggie waves 'Clarion' around the Sword Of Spells. Reggie wishes he could use it, but that would lower his score. He needs the challenge. "So what now you are going to the palace?" That is the location of the test and also the queen. She is a scary woman who could wipe them all out. No one knows what she is exactly, but the rumour is she is a Stronach. The pure embodiment of magic power, this outer world, is after all her construct. Even Reggie doesn't know why she built it, but it is the perfect place for Magicians. "Yeah what else can I do? My body won't be able to last much longer unless I get the Soul Sewing Elemental Crown." Jacosta beams at that. The recipe is common knowledge, but the forging process is not. It is as close to myth as the legendary Taisha'ar. That sends shivers down her spine, then something else, her eyes going wide with understanding. She rummages through her things and hands something to Reggie "You sly pig, you are hunting them aren't you?! And here are trying to make it sound as if you are in real danger." Reggie lets out a small smile. She is right. He doesn't have the time to go all over the various worlds to hunt down each type of elemental titan he needs. The particle recipe he has is the original for a Soul Sewing Elemental Crown. "I am in real danger, even if I'm using them. And thank you, an auto processor will make things much easier for me. I owe for this." The Auto processor is a godsend. He will extract everything he needs, while he won't be able to take the bodies. At the very least, he will have perfect parts. The magic construct in the hands of a rookie would lead to more damage than the normal process, but in Reggie's hands, it makes all his future hunting and gathering perfect. The golden band grows into three on his forearm. He tests it on some herbs Jacosta hasn't worked on yet. With a simple spell formation, he prunes the roots, removing the dirt and any dead leaves. It now looks ready for the pages of 'Gnome and Gardening,' a magazine popular with herbalists. Reggie goes to the palace since he is the first the guard lets him through forgoing the bribe that Reggie prepared. A woman with dark lovely skin and purple eyes takes to the portal. "Here is the trial of elements. Do you have a favourite you wish to begin with?" Her voice is bittersweet. She can see his potential, but he is too desperate if he came back as a level ten, then he would just be fine, but it is against the rule for her to interfere. "Lightning Elemental" Reggie's sword shaking in his hand, he is only taking three advantages into this fight. Besides his ability to use the skill of the sword as a medium to cast his various elements. The casting core already has two of its upgrades which is excellent for him. ?Casting Core? Info: Reduces casting time by 25%, adds passive ?Mana drain?, ?Casting range +200%? "Very bold choice. If you succeed after a brief rest, you will enter the next test until you fail." She watches as one of the brightest stars she has ever seen goes to his doom. "By the Maiden Mercy." She prays, as it is the only thing she can do. If Only he was born in this outer world, they would shower him with all kinds of skills, items and pets to help him. Reggie appears in the testing world, the clear blue space grows ground and some trees in the distance. The thunder starts almost immediately, the first titan has the Plasma heart. This is the engine that drives its mechanical body and the item he wants. He had dimensional storage. He would harvest its eyes too and the steel, in fact, it is a walking treasure. The Queen is a god-tier Forger. The properties of the heart that he seeks will give him control runes for energy management. If somebody heard these thoughts they would chop off his balls. This is like buying a Lamborghini to take out the proprietary intake valve. Reggie would scoff at that person, as Reggie will never waste the trillion bars of mithril to buy a plasma heart new. The Lightning Titan is thin and tall looking like an assassin if they glowed and shot a billion volts of lightning out of their fingers. Reggie's only advantage is that he knows its attack pattern and his casting range is double what it should be meaning he has greater distance than normal. The Casting core is a global item, so just having possession of it gives him a boost. A shame he can't integrate with it yet. Together the crown and the core will be his source of powers. Even now, he can already imagine working his elemental stones into the core. Reggie nearly jumps out of his skin when he casts 'Clarion's Call' the sword howls as it gets an earth elemental finish on its back edge. Now that he has fired the spell, he understands what it does. He thought at first he was just rusty but the sword is one that extends his casting time to five seconds. ⚪Clarion - Elven Short sword⚪ Info - A common Elven sword with a rare upgrade. The sword enchanter Jacosta failed the experiment to produce a cheap spell sword. Description: Sword skill [1] Clarion's call [1] Clarion's Call triples the power of any spell by doubling casting time. It is barely doable as the fastest of the Titans. It attacks every seven seconds, three attacks to the body followed by a sweep and then one random location. However, it has to target with its eyes for two seconds in that time he can dodge. He doesn't record this for others, he doesn't want anyone else getting to his level before he is ready. By the time the strategy comes out, he should be okay. He is sweating from every orifice. This is a highly stressful situation and Reggie has to be perfect. Every time the deadly bolt passes him by, he has to dodge the next two. The lasers only have one second of visibility in that time he has to see it and dodge in the opposite direction of the lightning strike. It will only take one. At least his damage is clearly visible. He doesn't really damage the steelwork of its body, but it doesn't interrupt the flow of energy. Trying to beat a titan directly at his level is madness. Elemental energy has its weakness, which he doesn't intend to inherit. Its eyes locked on him, targeting his leg. He has to wait until the laser is off him...
