Lyla's POV
The argument between I and my parents still lives rent free in my head.
I could barely catch a glimpse of sleep last night since well I could not stop thinking about all of it.
Am I the bad daughter here? Does it make me a bad child by refusing to marry someone just to save my parents? Dad was not kidding yesterday when he said Damon could suddenly barge into our house and point a gun at Dad's face.
Damon can do it. He is afraid of no one, he kills and leaves the body in cold blood.
He is evil and I can not imagine spending the rest of my life with such a man like Damon and even worse of it all, bearing children for him.
Never! I need to get up and head to the Shadowfang pack house. I need to have a one on one word with Damon and see what that i***t has to say.
Ijust hope he has become softer over the years, I know that is not true but a part of me just wants to believe that he is a lot more better now.
I j******f my bed and hastily shower.
I quickly change into comfortable clothes and make my way downstairs to prepare a small breakfast for myself.
I come to a stop in front of the walls when I notice how cracked they have become, the paint on the wall keeps peeling and it makes everywhere appear rusty and old. Did Damon do that too? Smash our walls?
I notice mum sitting on the worn-out couch in the sitting room with her eyes on the floor. She looks deep in her thoughts that she did not notice my presence until I pass her by and accidentally make a creaking noise while trying to push the kitchen door open.
Mum looks startled, she jerks off the chair but releases a heavy sigh when she sees that it is just me.
Can she really not have peace of mind because she knows Damon is out there and is most likely coming for her and dad? I sigh, I pity her.
That is another reason why I refuse to live that way, miserable.
"Lyla!" Mum yells my name and that startles me this time. I raise a brow at her and notice she is already sitting back on the orn-out couch.
"I was talking to you. I asked a question." Mum snaps at me.
"Oh, can you repeat it? I got lost in my thoughts for a brief moment." I say rubbing the back of my neck with my left hand.
"Where are you going?" Mum asks with a confused look on her face.
"Oh, me? I am just hungry so I decided to make a quick breakfast for myself." I say with a small shrug.
Mum rolls her eyes and chuckles bitterly. "I would ask you not to bother at all, there is nothing in the kitchen. We have no foodstuffs, nothing at all." Mum says.
"Why?" I ask with my face scrunched up in confusion. That is nearly impossible because I saw a few foodstuffs in the kitchen yesterday.
"Oh you were fast asleep. Alpha Damon's men came to raid our house last night, they took all our foodstuffs and threatened to kill us today." Mum deadpans.
Wait, what? Anger fumes in me as I clench my fist and mum's words slowly replay in my head. How dare he come into our house and take all of our things just like that? Who the hell does he seriously think he is? Fine, we owe him, so what? If we had money to pay off the debt, does he not think we would have covered it a long while ago?
"This is the reason why your father and I need your help Lyla. Please save us from this mess. I have to admit that I and your dad have not been the best parents to you.. " i interrupt her by nodding my head in agreement at that part.
"Yes, you guys have been really horrible to me over the years." I say biting my lower lip to hold back the tears that threaten to fall from my eyes.
"I know Lyla but please forgive us, we need you now Lyla. This is the time where we need you the most so please do not forsake us Lyla. Do not leave your parents stranded behind. We have no other daughter, it is just you." Mum pleads in a shaky tone.
Too bad for her, I have already made up my mind and nothing is going to stop me from doing what I want not what they want.
"If I am really your only daughter then you and dad should start treating me like I actually matter to you guys." I say and start to walk towards the front door.
I ignore mum as she constantly yells my name, I push the front door open and step out of the house. I sigh and lean on the wall for support. That was suffocating, the whole house is suddenly suffocating to me. I brush it off and make way towards the Shadowfang pack house.
The walk is more than thirty minutes and once I arrive at the huge castle standing a lot of feet taller than me. I pause to lean on my toes on sigh heavily. Gosh, walking here was really exhausting. I wanted to give up a few times but then how could I do that when I had not even achieved my sole aim? I am not going to let anything stop me now, not this time, not ever. I just need to see Damon, have a word with him and that is it.
"Hey lady what do you think you are doing here?" A loud masculine voice startles me from behind. I turn around to gaze at a werewolf guard staring at me and assessing every bit of my features.
"Hi, good morning." I say flashing him a bright smile. He ignores my greetings and furrows his brows at me impatiently waiting for me to state my reason for standing in front of the ShadowFang pack house.
"Oh well, I am here to see someone." I say chuckling nervously.
"Okay, well visiting hours are till around afternoon time. No one is allowed to leave the pack house and we are not allowed to let anyone in either." The guard says with a serious look on his face. Wait, why?
What sort of dumb rule is that and who thought of such rule in the first place? Wait a second, Damon probably did since he is the Alpha.
"You should leave lady." The guard says and attempts to walk away but I grab him by the arm and give him pleading eyes. He does not even let me say a single word to him, he pulls away from my grip and shoots dagger glares at me.
"Watch what you do lady! Do not dare to lay your filthy hands on me again." The guard snaps at me with an irritated look on his face.
Why is he acting like I am some plague? Did he just even call my hands filthy? My goodness, why is he acting like someone in such a higher position when he is just an ordinary guard? I want to snap at him and throw insults at him but I can not lose my cool right now, not when I sort of need his help to get into the ShadowFang pack house.
"I am sorry sir, I should not have laid my filthy hands on you. I just desperately need your help. I have to see my friend, she belongs to this pack and I think she might be in trouble. Can I just see her huh? Just for two minutes and I promise to leave afterwards?" I say with pleading eyes. The guard looks like he is about to protest but loud footsteps coming from behind suddenly interrupt him.
"Well, look what the cat dragged in." A familiar voice causes my entire body to freeze. I gulp a lump down my throat and gaze at the Alpha.
