“Hey, man,” Jude Martinez, an Ann Arbor police officer, greets me. I pull my eyes away from the computer screen and stand from the desk. Walking around to the front lobby, I shake Jude’s hand. “Everything’s all set up for you. A few women are here already.” “Sweet. You gonna help me out again today? Jane can’t make it.” he says of his partner, a fiery police officer, who normally helps instruct these classes. “Yeah, sure. Jen went home early today. So, I’ll just hang up here until everyone arrives, then quickly change, and meet you in there.
