"Book one luxury suite please, i will be there in 5 minutes" Drake said. Before he could end his call, Ava had passed out at the bar counter.
He gazed at her with an admiring look in his eye as she was sleeping peaceful in his arm. "You are checked in sir" The tiny voice of the receptionist jolted him, bringing him from his trance. He averted his gaze facing the receptionist who was grinning widely at him.
"Here is the key to the room, I am sure you know your way around sir" She said stretching out the key to him. He was quite familiar with hotel, he knew the best rooms that was comfortable and up to his taste. "Thank you he responded reciprocating her warm smile as he took the key from her and made his way to the room."
He turned the door knob open, he was welcomed by the cold Air in the room. That was what he needed as he was feeling hot from the inside. He laid Ava down gently on the vast bed.
Ava slept quietly as he wondered what to do with her. Her gown had gone all the way up her thigh, exposing what was underneath. He could feel his member grow hard at the sight but he restrained himself.
He was just tired from work and decided go to the club and cool off his body but here he was in the hotel room with a strange girl. It was not that really cares but he just couldn't leave her just like that at the club. He knew it wouldn't be safe for her, after all she had gone through. He decided to drop her at the hotel.
After settling her down in the room, Drake prepare to leave. He stood for a moment, watching her closely "i know how to find you" he whispered. A smile crept at the corner of his lips, giving a hint of admiration on his face as he completed the statement.
Ava woke up in a pounding headache from drinking too much whiskey the night before. She groaned as she blink her eyes trying to adjust to the bright morning sun light that penetrated through the large window. She looked around the unfamiliar room, feeling very confused this wasn't her small empty room she used to live in. The room look luxurious, with nice colour and furniture. She wondered how she ended up in such fancy room.
"What the hell happened last night" she tried to recollect. She remembered how she was at the club drinking away her sadness. She remembered the mysterious handsome stranger, Drake who she shared her experience with. She remembered he proposed a solution for her to over come her misery.
She suddenly gasped recalling how she shamelessly threw herself at him. "Was this the solution he wanted to propose" her heart skipped a beat at her sudden realisation. Immediately she checked wall between her thighs to confirm if its not what she was thinking. She couldn't help but let out a weak sigh as she confirm that nothing had happened to her, she wasn't feeling different except for the pounding headache she is feeling.
The shrill ringing tone of her phone cuts through the stillness in the room snapping her from her trances. She picked the phone to see who is on the line. "Who the hell is this" she cursed, it was an unknown number. She swiped her thumb across the screen picking the call.
"Hello this is officer Johnson calling from the local police department. Am I speaking to miss Davis?" A stern yet gentle voice spoke up. "Yes, how may I be of assistance to you" her voice laced with disdain.
"Your father Alfred Davis has been arrested, he needs an attorney ASAP. If he doesn't get proper representative, he will likely face jail term." The officer rushed his words.
"What? Why, what happened" her eyes widened in alarm. Her grip tightened on the phone. Officer Johnson's words hits her like a tidal wave.
"I am not at liberty to discuss the details of over the phone. All I can tell you is to make sure you get him a lawyer as soon as possible. We can't hold him for long without filing charges." Officer Johnson hurriedly said as he hung up. "Hel.. hello" Her voice trembled as she tried to speak.
Her heart raced. Thousands of questions running though her mind. Without hesitation, she dress up, packed her stuffs and dashed out of the room.
"Miss Davis I am sorry we can't take this case, it the Foster family we are dealing with here. We can't jeopardise our reputation," Said the sympathetic lawyer. This is the 10th rejection Ava had faced since the past 2 days of there father's arrest.
"But my father is innocent. If its the money, I am willing to pay double please just save my father, he is the only one I have" Tears welled up her eyes. She couldn't fight back the uncontrollable tears streaming down her cheeks.
"I believe you dear. But innocence doesn't matter when facing the Fosters, they will crush us in court." Ava left the office all her face had became glossy from the tears. She had trudged through the streets of Boston. She had visited countless attorneys, pleading with them to take on her father's case. But every door she knocked on was met with rejection.
The sun dipped below the horizon as its getting darker. Ava struggled to walk her way home. She slumped against her bed feeling extremely exhausted. All her muscles screamed in protest, aching from hours of walk. It was as if all her bones and muscles had disappeared.
Suddenly the bright screen of her phone illuminated the dark room as it vibrated against the wooden bed side table. Ava was too weak to stand up, her body was heavy feeling like it has been glued permanently on the bed. Her head kept on pounding from it continuous vibration of the phone.
"Who the hell is calling me by this time" she mumbled under the bed spread. She forced herself with the remaining strength she could possibly summon to pick up the phone on the table. She tried to open her eye slowly to adjust to the brightness of the phone. A pop up displayed at the top corner of her phone. It turned out to be an email sent in response to the contract application she submitted for a chef job at Super Fast.
Super Fast is one of the top high end restaurants owned by PHOENIX EMPIRE in Boston City. She has been asked to come for the physical interview at the Companies head quarters the next day. Ava's blurred vision became clear instantly. Ava had loved cooking right from childhood, her mother taught her how to cook before she passed away. When others of her age went to college, She decided to attend catering school.
She was an excellent chef. It has been her dream since childhood to work at high end restaurants most especially Super Fast. Now she had finally been called for interview.
"Yes, I made it" excitement written all over her face. She strength she thought she had lost resurfaced back from the good news she just saw. But at the realization of her father's situation, she slumped against the bed.
Ava stepped into the conference room. Her heart raced at each step she took. Surprisingly the room was empty with only one person sitting right at the front end of the table. Her eyes widened in shock when her gaze met the last person she expected. "Drake... wha... what are you doing here." Drake's piercing blue eyes sparked with a hint of amusement as he rose from his sit. "Ava Davis good to see you again. Kindly have a seat" he said gesturing his hands to the chair in front of her.
Ava sank into the chair trying to compose herself. She couldn't help but wondered. The stranger she met at the club is sitting right in front of her as her interviewer. Could he be the CEO of PHOENIX EMPIRE. She thought in her mind.
"I'm not here to discuss the chef position, Ava I have a different proposal" His stern yet gentle voice pulled her out of her trance.
Ava's curiosity piqued, she couldn’t help but wondered what kind of proposal he does have aside from the Chef position. "What kind of proposal is that?" She asked out of curiosity.
"Marry me, Ava, become my wife for six months, No strings attached" He responded, a smile crept at the corner of his lips and he narrowed his gaze.
"What?... what did you just say?." her eyes widen in shock at his word, "I should marry you? Do you think I am some kind of commodity to be bought or sold " she spat, her voice resonating through the walls of the room.
Immediately she stood up her chair screeching backwards against the floor tiles. "I don't know what games you are trying to play, Mr Andreson but I am not interested. This interview is over"She picked up her bag and turned to leave. But Drake's next words brought her to halt. "At least do it for the sake of your father."
