Ofelia’s POV By Friday evening, I had run out of excuses. I tried work first. I reminded my mother that the Hong Kong investors were still waiting for revised documents and that my new responsibilities at Blackwood Enterprises required more attention than before. Victoria waved the concern away and announced that Damien had already approved my absence. Then I tried my freelance job. She told me the countryside estate had excellent internet. Finally, I suggested that Damien might prefer to spend the weekend alone with his wife.
