Chapter 15 - Hanging out

2198 Words
Aria's Point Of View...     As Asher reverses out of my driveway I walk on the zigzag shape pathway to my front door. Grabbing my keys from my Coach mini Sierra Satchel handbag I unlock the door and push it open. The second I step foot in my house the smell of cookies invades my nose. Quickly I close the door behind me making sure to lock the door before heading straight for the kitchen.      I'm a few steps away before getting a cookie in my hands but apparently I wasn't as sneaky as I had thought. I feel a tap on both shoulders forcing me to turn around to come face to face with my baby sister and mom who were in the middle of cleaning up. I give them a shrug before grabbing my mom's famous sugar cookies making my mouth water at the sight of them.              "Well, are you not going to give your mother and sister a hug and kiss?" My mom finishes by resting her hands on her wide hips. While Sam my baby sister drops the yellow rag on the counter opening up her arms.              A huff leaves my mouth before placing my cookie on a napkin before going over to my sister. "Did you help out ma this time or did she do all the work while you talked about getting a pet?" After giving my sister her hug and kiss I go over to my mom and do the same. "Did she convince you into getting a bulldog?"             With a smile on her face, she looks between us before responding. "I will talk papa about getting one, okay?"             A squeal leaves Sam's mouth before rushing towards mom and I giving us a bone-crushing hug. "I knew this time was different. Oh, I can't wait!"     Samantha was a regular 12-year-old girl who has always wanted a dog in this house. We both have wanted one for a long time but our parents haven't wanted the extra responsibility since I am busy with school and other stuff. The responsibility would have been too much for Sam but now she's a good age for one.      Both of us a perfect mix of our parents. Sam has our mom's brunette straight hair that just passes over her shoulder and slightly darker pink plump lips like our mom. Her big blue eyes, thick eyebrows, and height are from our dad. Her sarcastic attitude better aligns with our mom's personality then our dad's.      I had my dad's blonde hair a shade or two darker reaching my lower back in beachy waves and his tallness. My plump pink lips, grey eyes are my mom's but slender full eyebrows a mix of both. My artistic creativity comes from my dad but my intelligence is a mix of both since my mom is a physical therapist and my dad a web developer.      Our mom is about 5'3 or 5'4 on a good day with straight medium length brunette hair with a few grey strands at the roots. She is about to turn 48 in a matter of a few months she doesn't look her age at all. It as if she is still 35 or so. The slightly visible wrinkles on her eyes and smile lines are the two giveaways to her actual age otherwise her flawless tan skin maintains the illusion.      Our dad, on the other hand, is another story. With, blond hair that has slight curls at the ends, big blue eyes, thick eyebrows frame alongside his stubble jaw. His 6'0 height hovers over the three of us but we know he is a lover, not a fighter. Unless needed he would protect us with everything he has in him. Both of our parents are protective of their daughters.              "Sam, you have to wait to see what dad says okay? It might not happen." I try to tell Sam the possibility that dad might not want to get a pet for the family. "We have to wait for dad's and mom's decision."            "I know...I just really want one before you move away to college," Sam says with a defeated huff.             "Sam that's not going to happen for a while okay? We still have time together and I am still keeping my options open about college. Nothing is final as of now." I look at my mom who no longer has a smile on her face. She walks up to us and gives a tight hug.             "Let's worry about something else like how you guys will convince me to give you my recipe?" Mischief filling her eyes.             "Oh, ma, please! We all know and have accepted that you are only going to tell us on your deathbed." I give her a slight smirk.             "Maybe or maybe not! I guess you are going to have to wait another few decades before knowing the recipe." She makes her way to the racks of cookies before picking up three. Placing them on a plate she brings them over for us. "How are you and Asher doing mi Corazon?"                                                                   Translation: "my heart?"             "Mama everything is going good okay?" I try my best not to show how I am actually feeling.             "If you say so Aria." She goes back to cleaning the kitchen with the help of Sam. I pitch in by eating another cookie and getting a container for the rest of the cookies. Once the kitchen is clean the three of us move to the living room. We sit on the l-shape couch and turn on the television.              "What do you guys want to watch? Netflix? Disney plus?" My mom looks at Sam and me for our input.             "We never finished watching our telenovela on Netflix," Sam speaks up looking at mom.              "I think we left off on episode 79." My mom goes on Netflix and clicks on her icon. Going to the continue watching part she select our show, Lo Que la Vida me Robo. Starring Angelique Boyer as Monserrat and Sebastian Rulli as Alejandro.                                      Side Note: Such a good show! I would highly recommend it if you have free time! I watched it when I was younger and then again and again.                                    Translation: "What life stole from me."     After another 4 episodes, it is time for me to get ready for tonight's bonfire party. I grab my phone unlock it and go to my messenger app to Ellie's contact. Going up the stairs I type out my message to her.      (Phone Conversation)             Me: Hey Ellie, can I come over now or is it a bad time? I really need your help with tonight and stuff...             Ellie: I can pick you if you want? Save you the trouble.             Me: I wouldn't want to bother you, Ellie. I really don't mind driving over.             Ellie: Its really no big deal plus I'm already out and about 10 minutes away so do you want me to pick you up? Stephanie is with me actually I just picked her up.              Me: Thanks Ellie             Ellie: No problem see you soon.              Me: Tell me when you are a minute away so I don't keep you waiting.             Ellie: Okay bye!     Leaving that chat I look for Asher's to tell him the change in plans.     (Phone Conversation)             Me: Hey babe you busy?             Asher: I'm cleaning the house but that can wait for you.             Me: This won't take long. I wanted to let you know our plans have changed. Ellie and Steph are coming over now to pick me up so we can get ready together at her house.             Asher: Okay have fun with them. I'll be over as soon as possible with the guys.              Me: Alright I'll see you then bye.     After my last message to Ellie, I head for my closet to change into comfier clothes. I grab my favorite comfy outfit which is an all-white sweatshirt and sweatpants combo. Pairing them with my all-white Adidas that complete the outfit.  After tieing my shoelaces I search for my duffle bag where I stuff it full with possible outfits for this party, makeup products, and other random stuff I might need.      A beep makes me look at my phone where I see Ellie messaged me saying she's two minutes away from my house. With lightning speed, I throw the duffle bag over my shoulder and head downstairs just in time to hear Ellie's 2016 Nissan GT-R r35 pull at the end of the street.      Grabbing my keys I see Sammy and my mom in the living room rewatching another one of our favorite shows, La Reina de Sur. They could watch that show for the rest of their lives and never get bored. Going towards them I give each other a hug and kiss on their cheeks.             Translation: Queen of the South.              Side Note: Not the one staring Alice Braga but the one starring Kate del Castillo.             "I'm gonna be staying at Ellie's tonight after the party."             "I know Aria just promise me your gonna have fun but don't be stupid." My mom tells me before getting up and giving me another hug. "And tell my son-in-law that he needs to come to visit me again. I miss his pretty face." With that, she gives a smirk and a dramatic wink before moving to the kitchen. Leaving me with my mouth wide open at her comment, 'son-in-law.'             "Um...Sam I uh see you tomorrow night. And start your summer reading okay?"      Getting a nod from Sam I rush to the door where Ellie has just pulled in. She unlocks her trunk and I place my duffle bag in it. Closing it I go to the backseat and soon enough we pull away heading to Ellie's house. Soon enough we reach her home to get ready for tonight and to spend some alone time together. Stephanie and I grab our bags and follow Ellie.      Ellie unlocks her door and lets us in. Passing the enormous living room and kitchen where her brothers are getting ready for a movie marathon. I see Angel in the kitchen making popcorn while Triston gets their drinks and other snacks ready. Eric is in the living room getting the pillows and blankets situation sorted and setting up the first movie of the Fast and the Furious franchise.              They give us a wave before Triston speaks up. "Ellie, what time are the guys coming over?"              "They should be here in about 2 hours or so. Were gonna be upstairs getting ready." They nod their heads before getting back to doing what they were before us entering.                                                                             ...Ellie's Point Of View...     I lead them up the stairs case excited to show them my unpacked finished bedroom. My brothers left my room alone for the most part but helped out with the painting of the walls. We all got a chance to design our rooms to our own personality. I open up the doors you see my king size bed with satin blush pink sheets and matching blush and lilac pillows. Two white side tables with gold knobs on either side hold a few things. The furthest away has a sibling photo that was taken a few years ago and a vase filled with my favorite flowers dahlias.     The nearest one has my wireless charging pad, a stack of books I am currently. One of which is Joyful: The Surprising Power of Ordinary Things to Create Extraordinary Happiness by Ingrid Fetell Lee.  Another one being Last Night in the OR by Bud Shaw. The last one of the stack is by Erin Morgenstern called The Starless Sea.       The wall the pushy blush headboard rests on is a watercolor tree with purple flowers wallpaper. Above my bed hangs a crystal chandelier. Hanging above the side tables hags miniature look-alike chandeliers. At the foot of the bed lays a matching blush ottoman that holds random stuff. The built-in storage is painted to match the lilac color wallpaper. That is where I place all of my trophies and medals I have won over the years. As well as any certificates from school. It is a daily reminder to myself of my accomplishments I have had and will have.      By the bay window has lilac semi see-through curtains that let a lot of light into the room. The built-in sitting curves to the shape of the window perfectly. I adorn it with matching pink and lilac throw pillows and a soft white blanket. The coffee table in front displays another vase of flowers and wick candles from Bath & Body Works. In front of my bed has built-in storage where my Samsung TV is mounted into the wall. With the controls below it. The open shelves above showcase photos of my family and friends that I have taken or to be taken throughout the years.      The drawers below hold a mixture of office supplies and artistic supplies. Such as computer paper, markers, notebooks, paint, and so much more. It s perfectly organized in the drawers and is convenient since my work area is to the left of this. My desk is built into it. I have my Mac computer and printers above the row of drawer. Each section holds important papers or information.
