What was he doing at the party?
My feet become sweaty, seeing that he was eyeing every single movement that I take.
All I could think about was getting out of the room at that point in time. Anywhere Jack finds himself, I am sure there is a problem lurking.
While I was heading towards the door, I turned my neck around and found him also trailing behind and this caused me to increase my footsteps.
The moment I walked out of the hall, I was heading towards the car.
“Samantha, Wait!” He yelled but I did not listen as I glided my way across the other vehicles parked till I got to ours and stepped inside.
“What happened?”
I almost screamed seeing Alexander in the driver’s seat.
“I thought you were inside the hall” I said, clutching my chest and trying to calm my anxiety down.
“I got a call from an important client and decided I will pick up the phone where there is less noise”
I nodded and turned to the window and found out Jack was gone.
“But why did you run back to the car though?” He asked after a while.
“Nothing” I lied and looked at the rearview mirror to see Alexander was staring at me.
“Your face shows otherwise. So tell me what is wrong?” He demanded.
“When I did not see you, I thought about coming to stay in the car and I met a stranger who was stalking me.” I lied.
“Do you want to get out of here?” He asked.
“What about your meeting with Mr. Wang?” I asked.
“You don’t have to worry about Mr. Wang. He has seen that our love is real and I am sure he is going to send for me tomorrow”
Again I turned to the window to be sure that Jack was not lurking around. “Fine, I guess we should leave then” I remarked.
Alexander turned on the ignition of the car but a loud gunshot caused chaos at the entrance of the event hall.
“Dammit!” Alexander cursed and sped off as more gunshot could be heard.
As we headed to the express road, my mind went back to Jack. I knew something bad was going to happen when Jack finally appeared in a long while.
By the time we arrived at the mansion, Alexander turned on the news and to my shock the all white party which was supposed to be fun was being reported in the news as a tale of gruesome murder.
“Somebody must have known that Mr. Wang was holding a white party and chose his target perfectly” The news reporter said.
“Maybe the man that was stalking you is actually dangerous” He said, pulling off his phone and scrolling through his contact.
“No..” I said and he looked at me.
“What are you talking about?” He asked.
“The man that was stalking me is someone that I know” I admitted and Alexander dropped his phone and folded his arms.
“Who is he?”
“Jack, my ex boyfriend” I said, tearing my gaze away from him.
“You have an ex boyfriend?”
“An abusive ex boyfriend” I corrected, trying to remain strong as I share my story with him.
“If the topic is too sensitive, maybe you should leave it. Don’t bother sharing it with me” Alexander suggested but I shake my head aggressively.
I wanted him to know the pain and trauma I went through in my last relationship.
“Jack always beats me for the slightest things.” I opened my arm and showed it to him.”That is a scar I got because I made him a breakfast that he did not like”
“That is ridiculous” He uttered, running his hand gently across the scar. “Why didn’t you alert the police on time?” He asked.
“Because he threatened to kill me. Jack was ready to kill me if I ever call the police and I was scared of dying”
I did not know when I started crying but I tried wiping them off.
“Look, I am sorry you had to go through that trauma. But I can assure you that you are in safe hands now. If you are sure that it was your boyfriend stalking you, then we can arrange a court order to stop him” He suggested.
“Jack is not the type of person to listen to court orders. He is a psychopath and I don’t want you involved with my mess”
He walked over to the couch and sat beside me.
“It is no longer your mess but ours” He said.
“For the next one year you are my responsibility and I am going to make sure that I look out for you. No matter what you say” He said with so much confidence.
“Thank you very much” I replied and he smiled.
Just a few days with him and all I can say is that I made the right choice. I could not imagine the possibility of Jack stalking me, if I was alone.
I could be dead and no one would even notice it.
Alexander gets a call and he excused himself to answer the call while I laid back on the couch watching the news.
“One of the suspect involved in the murder has promised to keep killing people until he gets his hands on his girlfriend again”
My eyes widened as I caught the statement from the news reporter.
I had no doubt in my heart that this was Jack and the shooting must have been orchestrated by him.
Suddenly my phone begins to ring and it is a private number. I hesitated but eventually picked up the phone.
“Hello Samantha”
Panic set in immediately the familiar voice of Jack came through.
“What do you want?” I asked, trying to maintain my composure even though I was struck with fear.
“You have been avoiding me for a while now. I want you to come back home, come back to me Samantha.” He said.
“Listen very carefully Jack. I have my whole life ahead of me, I don’t need to be reminded of the past and I am never coming back to you again. So goodbye!” I said and hung up the phone.
