Samantha POV
Staring out to the mirror, I take in a huge breath knowing that what I am about to do was going to shape my fate for a very long time.
I stared at the text over and over again, finding it hard that I was actually going on a blind date after a very long time of staying out of relationships.
In the ordinary course of things, I should not be engaged in any more dates after what Jack, my ex boyfriend did to me in our previous relationship.
I pulled the arm of my gown away and so many scars were printed on my body. Jack was a genuinely horrible person and I was glad that ever since the police were involved, he has been nowhere to be found.
All I could pray and hope for was that he doesn’t come back again.
Another text came through to the phone from the stranger, who happens to be my Blind date, stating that he has arrived at the designated address.
I applied a last touch of make up before grabbing my purse and heading out of the apartment. My trip to Marc restaurant was short because of its distance from my apartment.
When I arrived at the restaurant my heart was racing fast as I was curious to know the identity of the man I have been chatting with for several months.
I walked inside and scanned the entire room till my eyes landed on a light skinned man seated at the corner of the restaurant.
When our eyes met, I could see the sparks in them and it was the clue I needed to know that he was the one.
“I am sorry that I am late” I said the moment I arrived at the table.
“No offense taken” He replied.
After I casually settled down, I take a quick glance at him. He was not looking bad, his short brown hair complimented his amazing facial features and his eyes were intriguing as well.
“I cannot believe we are actually doing this” He commented after the waiter had left with our orders.
“Same here” I replied slowly, adapting to the mood.
“You genuinely look beautiful in that dress” He complimented.
My heart warmed up to him and my cheeks became shades of pink as I blushed hearing him say beautiful things about me.
I tried to get myself together.
“Your name according to the Tinder account is Alexander Monroe, a lawyer” I said, after picking up my phone to check his profile.
“You are correct. I am actually an investment lawyer and a lot of my clients know me as a reputable individual who strives for the best for them.”
His confidence and poise was impressive. Alexander was genuinely a man that knew what he was doing.
“What are the odds that I will meet you at this restaurant?”
I turned my head to the side and a man who appeared to be in his early fifties came to meet us.
Alexander rose to his feet and shook the hand of the man.
“Is this your wife?” He asked after Alex had sat back down.
“Actually she is my wife. We came here to have fun together”
My mouth went wide open at the blatant lies, but I kept my act together.
“That is amazing news. You know what?” The man pulls out a pen from his pocket and gets a short note from his security behind him. “I am going to write you the phone number of one of the board of directors, he will include you as part of our shareholders”
“That is a big news sir” Alexander replied, looking speechless.
“I am just happy that you made the decision to marry. Marriage brings growth and stability and these are the two things our company is looking out for” He said and turned his attention to me.
“Mrs. Alexander, your husband is good man and I hope you take good care of him”
I smiled nervously as he gave me a pat on the shoulder before eventually walking away with his security guard.
“What is the meaning of that?” I asked the moment he was out of sight.
“That is Mr. Wang, the client who has given me the fountain of success that I am enjoying this very moment” He explained.
“And you have to lie to him that I am your wife?” I asked with a raised eyebrow.
“And it landed me the opportunity to be a shareholder at his company” He said with a shrug of his shoulder.
“Look, I understand that I have overstepped my boundaries but I needed to do what was necessary at that point.” He said before reaching out to the pocket of his black suit.
“How about I make you an offer?” He said.
“What type of offer are we talking about here?” I asked, curious to know where he is getting at with all of this.
“I want you to be my wife for one year. Mr. Wang is a very smart investor and I can tell that he is going to make sure that he digs into our background together.”
I couldn’t believe what he was asking me to do.
“We barely met a couple of minutes ago. I don’t even know you outside of Tinder” I replied, still in shock that he was making an offer.
“From the very first time I chatted with you on Tinder, I knew there was something that was different about you.”
He placed his hand on mine, squeezing them in comfort.
“Take this as an opportunity to be with a billionaire lawyer, who is ready to take care of all your needs. All you have to do is accept the responsibility of bearing my name and acting as my wife”
I take a deep breath analyzing the situation.
Did I want to know him more before accepting the offer? Yes.
But if I refuse this offer, I may never get that opportunity again.
I looked up to him for a moment. Alexander looked like he was a good man and one that could easily restore the years lost away.
“Fine, I accept your offer” I replied.
