Scarlett's POV "Draven?" I muttered. He laid me on the bed and took a seat next to me with a worried frown. "Yes?" "Did I scare you?" I asked. He searched my eyes, reaching out and taking my hand in his, caressing my knuckles. "More than words. If you saw the state you were in..." He trailed off, clenching his jaw. "I've never felt so much fear. When Jamison told me you were too far gone, I hardly kept it together." I stared up at him, sensing there's something else he isn't saying—that he's hiding. Did witnessing me die for the first time upset him so much? Is there something else wrong with me that I'm unaware of? "I think I'll take a shower."
