“Thanks for the ride!” Trevor called after Nick as Nick sped off into the sunset.
Kira had the feeling Nick was happy to have Trevor out of his car. He had used his lights and siren on the way back to La Valentia, even though there had been no real need to do so—other than to cut his time with Trevor short.
Kira had been fairly quiet during the ride home. She had assumed the meeting with her rescuer would be fairly uneventful. In many ways, it had been. But she had left the patrol station feeling unsettled.
