By the time my mom and dad returned home, we were all huddled together on the couch eating popcorn and watching B movies. They were a bit surprised and somewhat relieved when I said Sam and Duncan were staying over, which was pretty odd for my easy-going parents. Dad kissed me on the forehead, the exhaustion was evident in his eyes. The meeting they had attended must have been daunting, to say the least, since it was well past midnight. Normally, I wouldn’t be interested in the activities of our elder witches, but there was concern on my mom's face, she wasn’t good at hiding her emotions. I figured they would tell me eventually and just let them go to bed since the boys were staying.
It was 2 am when the three of us tiptoed up the stairs. Duncan and Sam fell right to sleep the minute they hit the floor. I, on the other hand, was lying wide awake, a full moon illuminated my room with pale white light. This light was always magical to me, even more than the witch blood running through my veins. I felt stronger in the moonlight. I sometimes wondered if that was why I was named Tide.
Grumbling came from the floor, causing me to turn my head toward the two sleeping bodies.
~ I wonder if I’ll ever be able to tell them the truth about who I am!~
They looked so innocent compared to their brotherly bickering. While we were growing up, something kept nagging at me to tell them the truth, that they would understand. I decided to stay quiet though, since what they don’t know can’t hurt them. My brain was officially tired of me being awake. My last thought was wondering what the boys were dreaming about.
I woke up but everything felt hazy and I immediately knew I was still dreaming. I took in my surroundings, I was in what looked like someone's bedroom. The walls were made out of thick wood like you’d see in a cabin. A fire was going across from the bed I was laying on. I spread my hands along the softness of the blue blanket below me. Without warning, arms wrapped tightly around my waist, I just realized I was only in my bra. I also noticed someone's breathing against the side of my neck, their heart was pounding on my back. The entire time I was being held, I felt a hum in my body and I could tell he did too, since he pulled me even closer. He finally kissed my neck, trailing kisses up to my ear and whispered
“I want you, I want all of you, I can’t stand not being with you”, he had such a husky beautiful voice, my heart lit on fire. There was a hint of pain behind his words and it broke my heart just the same.
~Who is this man and why do I want to drown in him?~
The tension was so thick it was hard to swallow, one of his hands made its way to my breast, his finger circling my n****e through the bra, I bit back a moan. His other hand slipped under the covers towards my s*x and pressed into it. I let out the moan I held back, letting the tingles it sent through me fade. I could feel his smirk on my neck. As a virgin, I was not about to let some dream stranger take me to cloud nine and I didn’t know what he looked like. I knew he was taller than me and slowly I tilted my head back to see if I could see his face and his eyes met my own, albeit upside down. He had dark brown hair that almost looked black, but I gasped when looking into his eyes, which were the color of pure gold. The longer I gazed, the more I felt I was drowning, there was so much passion in his eyes I could stay there forever. In that next moment, his mouth locked with mine and I didn’t care anymore. I just wanted to get lost in whatever feeling was bubbling inside me as I kissed him back. The humming I felt grew stronger and it felt like I'd known this man forever. When we finally broke for air, we were staring at each other face to face, my hands were caressing the sides of his face. This whole thing didn’t feel anything like a dream and I didn’t want to leave.
“Who are you?” I whispered so gently, searching for why I felt this way. Before I spoke, he was coming in for another kiss but stopped. His eyes widened in bewilderment, as if he had just realized something. He cupped my cheek in one of his hands, his brows furrowing and said the most confusing thing.
“You can’t be here. How are you here? Why did you have to come here now?” he wasn’t really asking me, but his questions made my stomach sink.
~This isn’t a dream, then what is it? Who is he?~
My mind was reeling until he got out of bed and all I wanted was for him to come back. His presence felt like home, like everything I ever wanted. He stopped in front of the fire and turned to take another look at me. My breath hitched at how handsome he was, my insides were squirmed with lust and fear all at the same time. The answer finally came to me as he came stalking back to the bed and leaned over me.
~This isn’t my dream!~
His lips found mine again and this time he kissed me like there was no tomorrow. His hands grasped the back of my head and mine were holding his wrist. I don’t know how long we were like that but he finally broke away, it looked like it pained him to do so.
“I’m sorry” his lips formed a sad smile as he started to fade along with the room.
“No no no wait”. I tried to grasp his arm but it was too late. I was surrounded only by darkness. No matter which direction I turned, nothing could be seen. My mind was reeling for the second time in one night. It was starting to worry me. The darkness wasn’t cold, the opposite really. I was able to gather my thoughts as long as I didn’t think about that boy. Eventually, I convinced myself to figure it all out in the morning and soon curiosity struck me.
~if I can enter dreams then I can see what my two cuddle buddies are dreaming about~
Being in a dream state, time flows differently, making it feel like hours when it’s probably only been 30 minutes. I decided to concentrate really hard on Duncan, picturing his face in my mind. Building up the magic tends to make me laugh, since it feels like I'm being tickled. Instinct took over and released the magic within me and words escaped my mouth.
“Somnium ambulare”
In a matter of seconds, a door appeared. It was made out of thick maroon wood with leaves engraved on the sides. I was more surprised something happened at all, my ego was slightly stroked. On the door, a giant white full moon sat in the center with tree branches surrounding it. When I touched the handle, a soft light appeared to come from the moon, almost welcoming. Going through it, I felt like a kid going to Narnia, especially since there was snow everywhere. I found myself in the woods of some sort, the sun was high in the sky and mountains could be seen in the distance. Although it was a dream, all my senses felt crisp and clear, which also meant I was a little cold.
~I didn’t take him for the nature type.~
Chirping came from all around but suddenly went quiet, followed by a bone-chilling howl. It was both beautiful and terrifying all at once. I knew absolutely nothing about traveling in dreams. My instincts, however, were telling me to run and not be seen. The woods were growing denser the more I ran and the howling didn’t seem to get any further away. I broke through a clearing and stopped. I was standing in the middle of a perfect circle formed by the trees. At that moment, everything was silent, only my breathing could be heard and I was painfully aware of snow being stepped on from every direction. Slowly out of the shadows, paws emerged, very large paws. They belonged to a very large red-furred wolf, large enough that I could probably ride on its back. Others began emerging, all of them a different shade and breathtakingly beautiful. Finally, one more appeared and this one was the purest of whites with twinkly blue eyes staring into me. In fact, they were all staring at me, none made a move and I stood extremely still. What I was not prepared for was Duncan approaching from behind the white wolf almost stark naked, save for some kind of red ceremonial cloth. Judging by the way his eyes widened, I suspected he was just as surprised to see me. He opened his mouth but closed it right back, the look of confusion becoming more apparent on his face.
“Hi” was all he squeaked out, unsure of what to do with himself.
“Dancing with wolves?” I said nervously, and an unwilling smile crept up on his face.
“ Yeah” he responded hesitantly, a growl caught his attention and he went silent. He turned toward the white wolf. He waved his arms and placed them on his hips as if he were having a conversation with someone. After awhile, he finally came walking over to me a bit annoyed. He took ahold of my arm and started walking away from the wolf circle. When we were far enough, he paused
“How are you here?” his brows were scrunched and I felt like I should play stupid.
“I don’t know, where’s here?” I answered with a question and my own confused look.
~I cannot let him know I came here on purpose.~
His hazel eyes were looking more green as he stared hard at me.
“Why are you looking at me like that” I said, my voice hitching in my throat. I was trying to think of ways to make this seem more like a dream. Fortunately, I didn’t have to do anything because, in the next moment, Duncan grabbed both sides of my face and slowly started leaning in. The last thing I wanted was for my best friend to kiss me, nor did I want anyone else's lips on mine after the boy with golden eyes. He was only a breath away, causing me to squeeze my eyes shut. When I didn't feel any pressure on my lips, i slowly opened one eye to find Duncan staring at me. I could tell through his eyes he had decided on something and dropped his hands from my face. I let out the breath I didn't realize i was holding as he stepped away from me.
"You have to be a dream copy because the real Tide would never let me kiss her" he chuckled out, amused by the situation. I didn't miss a beat in playing along.
"Are you saying this is a dream?"
"My dream, but yeah, which is weird considering these dreams are usually sealed.
There was genuine confusion on my face at that comment.
~What does he mean sealed?~
Duncan, however, didn't seem bothered before he said his next words.
" As much as I would love to let you explore, I don't think those wolves will allow it. So I'm going to make you disappear. But don't freak out, you're not actually here anyway, since you are a figment of my imagination. See you when I wake up"
He winked and before I got another word out I fell back, down into darkness. With the darkness surrounding me once more, I sat and processed what happened. After viewing Duncan's dream I had more questions than answers. Just like the one with the golden boy everything felt real. IF everything felt real, then I'd have to be careful not to get hurt. The possibility of consequences didn't deter me from trying again, however. My thoughts drifted toward Sam next. I brought forward all my memories of him and said the words but nothing happened. Or so I thought. Barely visible within the darkness was a door but it was black compared to Duncans.
Once again, there was a picture of the moon but half of it was blood red. The more I stared at the moon the more it felt like the red was creeping over the white portion. Even though I was certain this was Sam's door, my instincts were telling me not to delve any further. I suppose that's why the saying curiosity killed the cat is so popular. Delicately, I twisted the brass knob, allowing the door
to creek open.
There was a different kind of cold inside his doorway and I slowly placed my foot in it.
~Theres no turning back now~
And there wasn't, because as soon as I entered I was engulfed in light like before. When I opened my eyes again, I found myself
in an unfamiliar room. Red blackout curtains swayed near an open window, the walls a mix of white and grey. the furniture and decorations were reminiscent of an old Tim Burton movie.
"Tide?"
I jumped at the sudden sound of my name, it sounded harsh in whoever's mouth said it. I turned to see blond hair and grey eyes as Sam walked closer. I couldn't place it but my instincts told me I shouldn't let him touch me, the words danger were blaring about in my head. My magic didn't like him which was weird since its never reacted before. I took a step back involuntarily. His piercing eyes were looking at me in confusion but they were cold and hooded.
" Hey Sam, um where am I?"
It wasn't long before he was standing right in front of me, his gaze going through me. His palm came up and it felt icy against my skin when he placed it on my cheek. The more I looked at him the more fuzzy my head felt.
"The Sam you know isn't here right now, and you... are far from normal." my heart sped up at his words.
~what does he mean Sams not here? is this his nightmate?~
Before I could say anything, the same icy sensation was on my lips, keeping me frozen in place.
"ow" I pushed him away and noticed the little bit of red lingering on his mouth.
My own fingers touched the now throbbing area and a drop of blood pooled on my finger tip.
" What the hell Sam,"
"You really should pay more attention" The blood was gone with a quick sweep of his tongue. "Honestly. I will never understand why he refuses to take you. I would never make that mistake, especially with that blood of yours."
Although it's only been a short while, everything that's happened so far was like that of a nightmare. What was worse was that the person who says he is Sam sounds as though this were actually happening and not a dream at all.
"I'll keep this little meeting a secret." As he said the words my body was slowly fading from the dream, but not before I heard his last words.
"I'll see you in the waking world, Tide."
I actually gasped awake in reality. To my surprise the golden rays of sunlight were filtering through my window causing me to squint. I felt exhausted in more ways then one, noticing the minor ache in my body from lack of sleep.
~Guess dream walking is similar to actually being awake~
I recounted the nights events and decided I needed to use this day and go over all the weird stuff thats been happening. I looked over my clock, which read 6 am, and groaned
~I'm going back to sleep~
Thankfully no magic pulled me into a sexy dream. much to my disappointment.
