Ray held his axe in one hand and the long knife in the other, both weapons slicked with drying blood. His blue eyes stayed locked onto the five Lycans prowling around him. Their low growls rolled across the ground as they tried to scare him into a mistake. He shifted his stance, placing his left foot forward and settling most of his weight onto the right. Power gathered in his legs. Without warning, he pushed off the ground and surged toward the closest Lycan. The creature reacted a heartbeat too late. It threw itself at him with its jaws wide, aiming to crush his skull between its fangs, but Ray’s senses had sharpened after leveling up. He caught the motion, angled his wrist, and swung upward with all his might. The axe split the Lycan’s head apart, fragments scattering through the air.
