She laughed and threw her head backwards.
"You're not bad. You're funny, you're cute, you've got quite the charm" she said as she caressed my face earning a smirk from me.
"But I don't do younger guys" she said as she poured me more gin.
"Younger guys... Interesting"
"Yeah, aren't you like fourteen?" She said and giggled.
"Sixteen actually" I said feeling uncomfortable.
"See?? A sweet sixteen" she said and ruffled my hair.
She drew closer and whispered
"You're worth considering..."
I snapped my eyes open while breathing heavily. I cleaned my sweaty face and took steady deep breaths.
My phone beeped and I grabbed it.
I had fifteen missed calls from Valerie.
I groaned and threw it on my bedside table. I covered my face and sighed.
It was the dream again. It was so vivid like it happened yesterday. It kept reoccurring recently.
It wasn't a nightmare. It was a longing.
There was a soft knock on the door and I hissed.
"Who's it!!" I said.
"Nisa" came her tiny voice.
Nisa slowly walked in and said "your father needs you downstairs".
"Not again" I groaned.
"what are you waiting for?! Get out!!"
She hurried out like a scared mouse.
I went to the sitting room angry because my dad called me. I haven't seen nor spoken to him for days. I was avoiding him.
"Good evening sir" I said.
He nodded and turned to the TV.
"Get your things ready. We're leaving in two hours" he said while glancing at his wristwatch.
"Where to?" I asked.
"Ayo's place. "He replied.
I raised my eyebrows.
"Why??" I asked.
"You're staying with them for now, till you regain your senses" He said.
"What?! But Dad..."
He cut "No buts!!! Go get your things, NOW!!!!!".
I dragged my suitcases downstairs.
The maids stared in silence. They were probably glad I was leaving, especially Nisa.
The journey was silent. It felt like a vacation to hell.
I was going to have a whole new life.
A new home and school. Sharing a roof with Esther wasn't going to be easy. We were cat and dog with each other.
I sighed when we stopped and got out. I haven't seen Aunty Ayo for a long time. Esther completely ignored me but Vinz was different.
I was woken up by Vinz the next day.
I went to a new school and it was damn boring.
"Welcome to Sound Minds" the principal said.
More like, welcome to prison.
They insisted I resume the day I got admitted.
To ruin my day, I bumped into this weird girl. She's got quite the character. Annoying...
I was lucky enough to meet Gideon, an old neighbour.
The annoying girl turned out to be my classmate. Gideon's seat mate to worsen matters.
She hardly ever talked but talked to Perez and another weirdo with large glasses.

Kamsi helped me get around the school. I found her weird at first but she was very smart, just not street smart.
She talked a lot, ate a lot and had big round glasses. I was on the listening side. I listened to all she had to say, zoning out sometimes.
The creepy smiley-face from the gate also happened to be my classmate.
What a nightmare...
Getting through my first day felt like war. It felt like centuries have passed before the closure bell.
I haven't been to school in a while.
I rode my bike to the one place that lightened up my mood. A place where I felt free and was at peace.
Buttercup Bakery.
I pushed open the glass door and got in. There were a few customers there.
They stared at me.
I realized I still had my helmet on.
My bad...
I took it off and took in the a deep breath. I could never get enough of the freshness of Buttercup's air.
Akin was at the counter.
"There's my favourite biker" he said and gave me a high five.
"Hey ghurrrl!!!" Christine squealed and hugged me.
"I missed you" She said and I flinched.
"You're squizzing me"
"Oh, sorry. Glad to have you back" She said, grabbed her tray and left the kitchen. She was just as childish as Kamsi.
"If it isn't the Chef herself" I said and wrapped my arm around Esther's shoulder.
She was making a dough.
"The okada girl has returned" she said and I hit her playfully.
We were about to close the bakery for the day. Akin and Christine had already left.
We locked the front door and settled to have pancakes in the kitchen.
"He walked away silently, not saying a word. He humiliated her with no iota of remorse. Now that's what you get for crushing on jerks" I said.
"Exactly how my cousin behaves. He's so full of himself. He doesn't even wash his plates. I can't survive with him in that house nah!" Esther said.
I laughed and asked "your childhood rival cousin??".
"Yeah. His Dad brought him to stay with us. He behaves like a king in our house. He's not cleaned up his room since last week." Esther said annoyed.
"You can't really blame him, he's a rich kid" I said.
She turned to me and said "I can't tolerate him. He's got to learn some manners before I'll be nice to him".
"Before he learns the good manners, he has to unlearn the bad ones. He needs time" I replied.
"True. So... Tell me about the new guy" she gave me an annoying smile.
I shot her a glare and she laughed.
"Ode! (fool)"
She laughed and gulped down my drink. I smacked her head for that.
"You're so violent! Can't you be soft sometimes?" she said.
"Nope!"
"Let's go!" I said and she didn't budge.
I dragged her out of her seat and she staggered like she was drunk.
We cleaned the kitchen and put things in place before leaving.
"Thanks for dropping me off my tomboy" she said and I shook my head in annoyance.
I got home to find Bryan and Bella lying together on the couch.
"The Biker girl is back" Bryan said and I rolled my eyes.
Bella got up and hugged me.
I had enough hugs already.
"How was your first day?" She asked.
"Not bad" I said and threw a wrapped meatpie to Bryan.
"Good night Lovebirds!" I said and went to my room.
Ralph was fast asleep on the floor. I couldn't help but smile when I saw him.
He slept so peacefully.
I carried him and placed him on my bed. He yawned and scratched his eyes.
He opened his eyes and smiled. He touched my face with his little hands.
"Mummy" he said and closed his eyes.
I kissed him on the forehead and adjusted him on the bed.
He was my little happiness.
