Chapter 16Carlo freed Anek and Brox. He turned to Laura. “Help them.”
She nodded and while Anek and Brox jogged toward the entry, Laura was falling behind despite running full-on.
Carlo hurried toward the cockpit. Zen was moving switches and pushing buttons.
“Do you know how to fly it?”
“It’s ancient.”
“I could almost tell. But you know how to?” He didn’t want to crash. Could you crash in space? His lungs shrank. f**k. Would you keep falling for eternity if you crashed? He frowned. To fall you needed gravity. His heart beat rapidly. “What happens if we crash?”
“Crash?”
“The ship.”
“We can’t crash the ship. It’ll float through space.”
“Forever?”
Zen didn’t answer for several seconds, he was too focused on pushing buttons. The sound of an engine coming to life made Carlo jump.
