Lily’s POV:
Pain.
That was the only – no, scratch that. It was the only thing I knew when I triggered my shift.
One moment, I was smiling brightly as I stared into Damien’s bright silver eyes. The next? My vision was clouded as my nerves screamed at me.
The pain did not come gently, it didn’t glide through me like it did the very first time I had triggered my shift. No – this was different. It felt like my bones were shattering and re-arranging in places they were never meant to.
My skin burned like fire, and so did my muscles. Everything within me fell apart, and the only source of strength I had throughout all this was Damien’s roar.
My lungs seized, and I was already screaming before my brain could recognize the pain.
