I hadn’t moved when the door closed behind us. Around me, the room smelled faintly of cedar, lilies and something else, something darker… him. For a long, drawn out moment, all I could do was stare into his deep silver eyes. “We need to talk,” Those words still echoed across the room, but I didn’t quite hear him, I couldn’t, not when I could feel his hot breath on my face. My attention was fixed only on him, on the harsh pronounced lines of his jaw, to the cold authority that seemed to radiate out of him. Just being this close to him made me stop breathing.
