While hiding in Ava’s office Zach could not help look around at the personal touches Ava had added. This was his first time entering this office since Ava had started working for him. Everything was neat and organized which was very Ava ,he thought with a smile.
He lifted a picture frame on her desk of Ava and a blonde woman. What surprised him from the picture was Ava she looked so carefree and bubbly which was a complete opposite of the way he knew her.
Zach was stopped when a phone rang. It was Ava’s cellphone on the screen showed a blonde guy named Steven and Zach wondered who he was to Ava. He felt a tightening in his chest when he thought it could be a boyfriend. He was confused as to why he cared admittedly he was attracted to her but he should not care who she associated with.
The phone rang again this time he ignored it as he started to open the desk drawers.
“Those are personal items Mr. Lockhart, is your office not to your liking anymore?” Ava asked as she entered her office. Zach ignored her teasing comment because he had no valid excuse to give.
“Who is Steven? “ he asked .
“No one that concerns you sir ,you can go back to your office now she is gone.”
“Really ?” Zach asked incredulously forgetting about the Steven question. “How did manage that? "
“I have my ways sir now if you don’t mind I have work to do as I believe you do too.” Ava said as she stepped away from the door for Zach to pass through. Just as he stood up the phone rang again and Zach took it and answered before Ava could reach him to snatch it.
“Hello” he spoke.
“Hello who is this?” a male voice asked back.
“Zachart Lockhart and who are …..”
Zach did get to finish as the phone was ripped from him by a furious Ava. She hugged the phone to her chest and glared at him.
“Zachary Lockhart get out I will deal with you later” she hissed at him.
Zach saw her face and decided to comply. He didn’t know what made him answer the phone ,curiosity maybe. He went to his office and went back to the paperwork he left when he escaped from Brooke.
Ava could not believe that insolent i***t had the audacity to answer her phone.
“Hey Steven sorry about that ……” Ava started but was interrupted.
“Who was that?” Steven asked he already sounded pissed.
“Umm that was just my boss I’m so sorry……” Ava tried explaining only to be cut again.
“So your boss answers your personal phone right?” he said mockingly obviously not believing her.
“If you stop interrupting me I can explain.” Ava said tired of the conversation already. Steven was difficult sometimes and it was tiresome. “How about you come for dinner today then I will explain right now I have work to do?”
“Fine see you tonight “ he said then hung up.
“Well bye to you too” Ava replied to the dial tone. She sat down shoulders sagged giving herself a moment to breath.
A few seconds later she stood up , composed herself and went to her boss’s office. She did not bother knocking she was too agitated to care.
Zach was in grossed in typing on his computer that he jumped at the sudden intrusion. He looked up and saw Ava’s calm before a storm expression and gulped. She was definitely scary at that moment.
“Mr. Lockhart what you did back in my office going through my stuff and answering my personal phone was uncalled for. I respect your privacy and I implore you to respect mine. If you repeat that I will reap out your eyeballs and shove them down your throat so that you could see what you swallow. Do I make myself clear?” Ava asked in a calm voice and she received a nod from Zach then she turned and exited the office.
It was already five and she did not feel like waiting around so she packed up getting ready to leave for the day. Before she left she passed by Zach’s office only to find he had already left.
“Impossible spoiled brat” Ava mumbled to herself as she entered the elevator.
By the time Ava got home she was beat and just wanted to go straight to bed but then remembered that Steven was coming. She groaned in annoyance then went for a shower before starting dinner.
She decided to make Mac and cheese because it was easy and she was lazy. Khloe had texted her saying she was going to be a bit late so she cooked enough for three.
The doorbell rang when she was taking the food out of the oven. She opened and found Steven still in his suit. He looked very handsome with his dirty blonde hair perfectly styled. That’s the thing she liked about him he was always impeccably groomed.
“Hey did you forget your key again? " Ava asked as she let him pass.
“I think I might have misplaced it somehow.”he replied.
“Go straight to the kitchen I’m done with cooking and we are eating in there.” She said.
“So mind explaining how your so called boss answered your phone?” Steven went straight to the point as soon as he sat down.
“Well …umm my office and personal phones are both gold iPhone 6 so he mistook one for the other.” Ava lied she knew Steven would blow everything if he knew that Zach had intentionally answered.
“Hmm OK.Its just that your boss is a well know ladies man and girls fall for him front and back.”
“You know I’m not like that”Ava defended. She handed him a plate. “Im sorry I just made mac and cheese I was too tired to make anything else.”
“I guess the job is taking a toll on you already” he commented.
“No its just the same as I worked at Castillo.”
“Yes but I did I not like it when you worked there so now I won’t like it any better.”
“Steven please let’s not argue about this, it’s been a while since we had time to each other. "
“You are right so how are your parents? "
“They are fine but dad must be in Italy this week.”
“Oh that’s why I haven’t been seeing around the office. "
“Yes but mama did not go this time she said something about a party she is busy with.”
“A party I guess I’m not invited as always ." Steven sneered.Ava’s parents were skittish about her relationship with him. Scratch that they were completely and utterly against it and they had no problem showing it.Hence no invites to anything they hosted. They were not snobbish they just did not like Steven and Ava never understood why.
“if they don’t invite you I will not go also so don’t stress” Ava reached for his hand and gave it a squeeze. She took their took their now empty plate and washed them.
Steven smiled at that “ That would show how serious you are about me.”
“Is it OK we have ice cream as dessert while we watch a movie?” she asked Steven who in turn nodded and went to the living room.
“So what did you pick to watch?” Ava asked as she sat next to him and handed him his favorite ice cream vanilla while she had cookie dough.
“I found one called 13hours something “ Steven mumbled.
“I heard its based on a true story”
“Hmm but I’m not really interested in that” Steven whispered as he moved closer and leaned in to kiss her.
Ava responded immediately welcoming the familiar feeling provided by Steven’s kisses.
Steven moved his hand from her hip to her waist and lifted her shirt slightly to touch the n***d skin there. He deepened the kiss and pushed her so that she was lying on the couch with him hovering over her.
Just as he was about to pull of her t-shirt the door opened.Ava hurriedly sat up and fixed herself up.
“Honey I’m home” Khloe called out as she came into the living room. “Oh you have company “ she muttered begrudgingly.
“Hello Khloe” Steven greeted with his back to her. There was no love lost between them.
“Hmm” was the reply Khloe gave then she turned to Ava and started making crazy faces while pointing at Steven.
Ava pursed her lips to stop herself from laughing and fake glared at Khloe who just stuck her tongue out then left for her room.
“I should get going I’m working tomorrow “ Steven said as he stood up and headed to the door.Ava did the same.
“ But its Saturday tomorrow, how are you working tomorrow "
“I have some paperwork due Monday I left them unfinished so that I could come here.”
“Oh OK then , see you soon I guess.”
“By the way try and get your parents to invite me to the party”
“I will see what I can do. Have a safe drive OK!” Ava stood on her toes and gave him a peck on the lips.
