Chapter Fifty Eight

*** The path to the elevator was blocked by hostiles, none of whom seemed to truly know the extent of their f**k up. Soren wanted blood and he seemed to be more than prepared to destroy everyone who dared to stop him. Why I think that’s hot is beyond me... You really need therapy, Emilia and a couple of tequila shots... Spotting the assailant before my husband could finish with his current opponent, I sprung into action instantly, kicking the gun out of the man’s hand before landing a punch square on his jaw that sent him sprawling to the ground. “Who sent you, asshole?” I urged, pressing my foot harder and harder on his neck, restricting his air flow. The man glared, saying nothing as he seethed at my assault. “Staying loyal to an organization that considers you disposable...what a f*****g idiot.” Soren’s words were cold, unfeeling as he wrapped his hand around my waist and pulled me back from the man before he emptied three shots into the man for good measure. I stayed my body’s natural reaction to flinch at the violence, reminding myself of the training that had been ingrained into me. You’ve also seen enough dark s**t to last you a lifetime, remember? Nothing could be worse than the s**t you’ve been through... “Come, malyshka. We need to continue to exfil.” He muttered, his hand wrapping protectively and firmly around my own before we entered the waiting elevator. “You know, in order for us to figure out why these guys are doing this, we need to actually leave them breathing and get it out of them after a few more tries.” I muttered, trying hard not to focus on my fast beating heart and the goosebumps spreading across my skin at our close contact. He was yet to let go of my hand and although I knew I should pull away, I couldn’t find it in me to. He’s so warm and his presence is a pillar of reassurance... “We’ve already secured enough of them to ensure thorough questioning is done. Everyone else unlucky enough to stand at the wrong end of my gun is my enemy. And I show no mercy to my enemies.” I did not doubt, for a second, that he meant what he said and more. He had understated the extent of his Wrath and what it meant to be his enemy. This attack must have been carried out by an organization that knows of him and yet they still went ahead... “You’re going to go to war with them, huh?” I muttered, glancing at his stoic form beside me. His eyes held my gaze, relaying more than his words ever could. He really is going to wipe them out. And I am not angry at that at all. “Give them hell, yeah?” My husband’s chuckle was small but genuine, enough to bring a smile to my own lips as we shared one of the most Real moments yet. “If you so insist, moya zhenschina. Our retaliation starts now.” He checked his remaining bullets before c*****g his gun in preparation for our exit as the basement loomed. “Don’t threaten me with a good time, husband. I might just take it as an invitation to have some fun.” I winked playfully at him just as the elevator dinged open, revealing a host of men I pegged as back up who all raised their guns but lowered them as soon as they noted Soren whose gaze was still on me. “Sir. We’re happy to have you back and safe.” One of the men stated, his back ramrod straight as he followed Soren and I to the parked cars which were waiting to ferry us out of the garage. “You’re late, Gage. Where’s Ace and Clover?” Soren coldly stated, never once looking at the man in question who seemed extremely on edge as he struggled to keep up with us. He’s doing better than I would have been if i was in his position...I’d probably s**t my pants if Soren glared at me like that... “They are backing up Mr. Kenji, Mr. Christian and Mr. Diesel. Once we got wind of the planned synchronized attacks by the Russians, they were quick to dispatch men to assist seeing as they have limited security as compared to yours. We did not, however, anticipate that they would send more men to Your location.” “We had no way of contacting you. They jammed communications for the block before they began their attack. We came as soon as we could but it seems you handled it...” He let the sentence drift, watching with the same fascination as my own no doubt as Soren swept the car from top to bottom, going as far as to lie low and check the underside. Efforts by his men to assist were met with dark glares that sent them scampering back to their original positions. “Can never be too sure after my wife’s recent...activities.” I grinned wide despite his playfully disapproving frown, truly proud of myself for putting my husband on his toes. “I have executed Plan Theta. Move out to Warehouse Six and wait for further instructions there.” “Yes Sir.” Gage stated, nodding to his men to move out just as we entered the sleek, black Jeep Cherokee he had chosen for us. “So you’re not a hard ass on just me.” I joked, earning an amused shake of the head from me before we drove out of the apartment complex and into the dark streets of the big apple. “Not a hard ass...just efficient and practical.” He stated, stopping the car beside the road a few ft. from the building that loomed beside us. Confused, I turned to stare at him, curious as to his next plan and thought process. “You wanted me to give them hell...I present to you;- Phase One of absolute Destruction.” The explosion was loud, sending debris flying across the sky as our apartment was engulfed in flames. I watched in absolute surprise, turning only to assess my husband who never ceased to stun me. “This is just the beginning. Stick with me and I'll show you a life beyond your wildest imagination." ***
