Chapter Fifty Two

“We do not have a lot of information as we last operatives within their ranks but we are working on that as we speak.”
The man stated, cowering in fear at the glare directed right at him. Now he knew why everyone else would rather do anything else other than deliver bad news to their leader.
His anger was lethal and woe unto you should you be in the pathway of his rage.
“So essentially, you’re saying we have nothing?”
Kaien Cole's voice was low, deadly and filled with the frustrations of a lost battle. He could not imagine conceding to Soren once more. His life had been dedicating to destroying the Sins and yet here he was, once more, still lagging behind his opponent.
“I’m sorry sir...we are doing everything in our power to rectify that...”
In a fit of rage, Kaien got to his feet, sending his executive chair across the room. He swiped the contents of his table to the ground, his eyes alit with a fury unlike no other.
“You continue to disappoint me time and time again. How many times will you fail?! You incompetent assholes!”
Kaien shouted, his rage unchecked as he advanced towards the cowering messenger. Grabbing him by his collar, he hoisted him up into the air and pushed his body against the wall behind them.
The man stammered his apologies, his entire body engulfed with the fear of death. Their leader was many things but not one to perform mercy.
“Please forgive me, sir. I promise to push a man harder than they have been pushed before. We shall bring you results.”
He urged his boss, praying that his words would get through to the man before him. He was shattered, torn at the possibility of his life coming to an end. It is why he refused to go down without a fight.
It is now or never.
“You have been saying that very many times Scott. Why should I trust you now?! Why should I give you another chance? What is so different this time?”
Kaien was running thin on patience. He wanted to dispose of the man who had failed him multiple times. And yet the vigour shining in his eyes made the leader of the Vipers think twice about his decision.
“Because of the new information we have uncovered, Sir. It is yet to be fully confirmed but there is talk that the unfeeling Soren Alexander values his wife more than we have been led to believe. She may be the key to destroy our enemies once and for all.”
Kaien froze at the very suggestion, his expression shifting from disbelief to mischief. He gingerly let go of Scott who was sure to take a long deep breath, one that was necessary after the firm hold that he had been in.
Were it not for my quick thinking, I am quite sure that I would not be here anymore.
“You’re saying that the brute,the cold and callous King of Sin might actually be in love with his wife? That must sound as ridiculous to you as it does to me. Soren is incapable of love or any other kind of human emotion. The man is a monster through and through which is why I must conquer him and reclaim the criminal underground is ours.”
Kaien could not believe the words that were coming out of Scott's mouth. Either the man was looking for a way out of his sentence or he had lost his mind in his last moments.
Looking at him now though, he could see the self assurance that lurked within his eyes. This was information that he had verified.
The most obvious and unbelievable of weaknesses is what will end up becoming the very thing that takes down his enemy.
Kaien could not believe his luck.
If Scott's words were to be believed then he had found his enemies Achilles heel. A surefire way of ending this war and making his opponents suffer just as he had all those years ago.
“I assure you that it is true, sir. Before one of our operatives was killed, he reported on the weird behaviours of Soren Alexander when it came to his wife. Although it seemed like a marriage of convenience on the outside, the operative couldn't help but notice that there was more to the situation. He did not live long enough to uncover everything but what he had provided so far has been able to confirm one thing; Emilia Alexander means more to the sins than anyone before.”
Scott continued to urge his boss, watching with true satisfaction as his expression shifted from doubt to excitement. A sinister smirk stretched across his lips, his mind having already worked on overdrive to find the perfect way to utilise this new piece of information.
It was this particular kind of brilliance that made him the figure of power,the only one able to stand head to head with Soren Alexander.
“You seem to have a set plan, Sir.”
Scott stated, earning a nod from Kaien who relaxed into his executive chair once more. A plan was coming together, one even better than the one he had devised before. It was not lost yet.
I can still reclaim my rightful position at the top of our world. Everything you own will become mine, Soren. just you wait.
“I do and I shall expand more on it soon but first, I believe it is time for us to send in our congratulations to the newest couple on the block. Emilia Alexander is the new piece on the chess board and meeting her has become my top priority.”
Kaien stated, earning a nod from Scott who pulled out his phone and readied himself to carry out the orders given to him.
“There is a lot of work to be done. Prepare yourself accordingly, Scott and do not disappoint me again because if you do, it will be the last time you ever do so.”
The threat was clear as day and Scott gulped before he nodded in acceptance and acknowledgement. He would go above and beyond to ensure that their bosses wishes well granted.
The battle between the two giants had well and truly begun and deep down, Scott felt a little sorry for Soren Alexander’s wife. She had been pulled into a world beyond her wildest imagination and had become a target, a pawn to be used in the battle that what was to come.
Don’t think about that now Scott. Focus on keeping yourself alive. The Sins can take care of their own.
You need to take care of you. even if it means crossing lines and doing the unthinkable.
For that was the Viper way.
