Kenji's PoV
He bowed his head, ready for his inevitable death. It was the punishment that every single traitor had received, albeit more ruthlessly from our resident enforcer. Diesel had no stomach for mercy, never had. Even now-consciousness restored after processing it all-as he pulled his gun and prepared to deliver the requisite punishment, he was less than pleased by my shake of the head to stop him.
"You have got to be f*****g kidding me, Kenji! You want to let him live?! He f*****g betrayed us, goddammit! Nothing he says will ever override the fact that he is a f*****g snake, like that shithead Kaien Cole. Having him anywhere near us is a death wish, brother, and you know it!"
Diesel, ever perceptive, had seen though my plan. Seen the wheels turning in my head and the decision I had landed on. It was an unusual approach, one that would receive an eye brow raise from Soren as well but I knew he trusted my gut. Trusted my mind to formulate the best approach to destroy all our enemies.
He will see it my way too. Our minds work the same way after all...
"We know, Diesel, but it is worth the risk. I know it isn't how we usually do things but we need an edge in this war if we are going to be the undisputed winners. We need a left hook, now more so when we do not know how far and deep this cancer goes. We do not have many to put our trust into and until we have a more stable homeground, we need to do things differently, in a way that they least expect."
Christian took the words right out of my mouth, his playfulness gone and replaced with the prodigy that he was. An Alexander through and through, his brilliance shone through-the same acumen he had used to build Septem into the grand organization that it now was.
The two men faced off, neither one backing down as Diesel's stubbornness and his Sin came forth. It was killing him to leave his prey, to stray from set tradition. He longed for blood and we were taking it away from him.
"That's not to say that we shall not have our own insuarance policy. You will work for us once more, Fabio. You will die here today and be ressurected to meld into the shadows, to acquire information from them as you did before and as you did from us. You will be the trojan horse that will turn the tide of this war."
His relief was replaced with reluctance once I got to my feet, leaning down such that we were now at eye level. It was an uncommon move for me, most especially when facing off with anyone beneath me.
I made a promise long ago to never lower myself to anyone's level and that promise will stand until the end of my days.
"No. Do not mistake this as a way out. We never proffer mercy without payment. You have broken our trust and that betrayal won't yet be forgotten. Thus, we shall take your family, place them in one of our safe houses. They will be fed and have access to everything they might need. But you will not be allowed to see them. They will go through the motions, accept your death and hold a funeral for you. You will watch them from a distance, never approach them and do your job. If your perfomance is satisfactory then we shall consider a reunion. If not, then I will unleash Diesel upon not only you but them. We will erase your legacy, any trace that you were ever on this planet. I do hope I have made myself clear."
Fabio gulped before nodding, his fear reminiscent of exactly what I was going for. This was a gamble, a decision motivated by my own subtle emotions but my gut was not outrightly rejecting it and neither was Christian's calculating mind.
It has to work. All our other Plans are in effect but this will be it. This is the edge that we need to finally put a stop to everything.
I shifted my gaze to Diesel, a smile playing on my lips at the sight of his mirth-filled orbs. Gone were the protests and rumblings of a battle between us brothers. No, he was more than pleased by the caveat placed as I knew he would be.
Only Diesel would be appeased with talks of killing men and families. He really is his own band of crazy.
"I'm guessing its my turn to do the honors."
Diesel stated, clapping his hands excitedly as he reached into a particularly bulky black bag, one he had been lugging around since we met a couple of hours ago. I knew better than to question Diesel and his activities outside the realms of work but the curiosity was gnawing at me.
"This will only hurt for a second. Now, make sure you f**k this all up, yeah? Because when you do, I am going to enjoy skinning you and your entire generation alive."
Diesel's smile was cheery despite the horror written on Fabio's face. A chuckle escaping him, the blonde haired mad man stuck the needle into the man's neck, instantly making him collapse onto the floor with a loud thud. Standing over him, he then proceeded to wrap his hands around his neck before applying pressure.
"I know you're trying to make it look believable but please don't f*****g kill him. You're pulling the-I am going to squeeze the absolute s**t out of this bastard-look."
Christian forewarned, chuckling at the sight of Diesel's flip off as he got off Fabio's limp body but only after confirming there was still a pulse. Pulling out yet another needle, we watched as he stuck it into the man's arm but not before struggling to find a vein. I rolled my eyes at the sight, releasing a frustrated breath as Christian chuckled in absolute amusement.
"Sorry. I am high as a f*****g kite right now....He'll wake up after a few hours. Should I have Ace take him and load him up with whatever he'll need?"
Diesel inquired. I shook my head.
"No, I'll do it. Have the men on the outside deliver his body to my Division. Ace will take it from there."
The same was carried out, each of us silently watching as Fabio was taken away. Some of our hopes now rested on him and his ability to deliver. The incentive was enough as was the threat of consequences.
"Well, if we're done here, I am going to head out. I have a delivery to make."
Diesel declared, a wide grin on his lips as he grabbed the bulky bag once again. Glancing up from my phone after shooting off a quick text to Ace and my trusted men at Division 2, I chose to not hold back my curiosity anymore.
This is Diesel we're talking about. Knowing everything he's doing is extremely important.
"I know I might regret asking this but what the hell is in that bag? You've been lugging it around like its the most precious thing to you."
"I agree. So glad someone decided to bring this up. Please tell me you don't have Emilia's best friend, Ashley, in there because that will be taking it a little too far, buddy."
Christian declared, his interest just as peaked as mine as he placed his laptop on the side. Diesel released a long winded laugh, one that was as unsettling as it was amusing. It sent a chill down Christian and I's backs even as we both somewhat chuckled at Christian's statement.
Even Diesel wasn't dumb enough to do that, right?.....Right???
"In as much as that sounds so f*****g amazing, I am afraid its not my little bird. It is my insuarance, though. My own dirty little secret that I cannot share with you guys just yet. What you do need to know is that our lives just got all the more entertaining. So make sure you pull out the popcorn and watch out for the fireworks."
His mischievous wink was incredibly fear inducing despite the playfulness wedged within. He was clearly excited for something but that never really usually boded well for his opponents or any one of us. We silently watched as he skipped out of the office, neither one of us speaking for a long moment until Christian broke the silence.
"Ah shit...We are so f****d, aren't we?"
