Soren's PoV

There she is. The woman I knew she could be. The darkness that I saw lurking within had come to the fore, had shown itself in the most brutal and pure form. She had shown us all just what she was capable of and judging by Diamond's petrified countenance, she had seen a monster than neither one of us had been privy to.
She is f*****g magnificent. I wonder how far she would have been willing to go if Kenji hadn't stopped her.
"You would have let her do it?"
The sin of Pride spoke up, his gaze meeting my own. Disapporval filled his as he shook his head at my small smirk and shrug. I was not one to hide anything from my brothers. We told each other almost everything but this particular bit of information was a little confusing for me, especially considering the conflicted emotions within me.
This is what I had wanted. To make her unleash the demons within her so that they could release her. She would be reborn into the true Mrs. Alexander, a Queen worthy of this empire. No one would ever be able to hurt her. She would be able to protect herself. She would join the Sins well and truly.
So why did I start moving towards her just as Kenji spoke up? Why was I so close to stopping her? Why did the thought of her killing anyone unsettle me so much?
They were contradicting emotions that were irking me beyond measure. I had never been an indecisive person, well until I met my beautifully wounded wife who had shifted my world in ways I never saw coming.
"I'm surprised you stopped her. I thought you didn't care about anything that I did or didn't do to Emilia. I thought my decision to marry her annoyed you and yet you just displayed more care for her than I would have ever anticipated."
My words seemed to carry Christian's sentiments as his gaze shifted to Kenji. We each waited for his answer, assessing his body language and expression for any slip ups despite the fact that we knew he was the most impenetrable fortress of us all.
"She's not ready for such a burden, most especially if it is motivated by all the wrong reasons. It will break her more than she already is and we aren't looking to nurse a corpse back to health. The right amount of push is necessary to shape her into what you have envisioned. She is almost there. Don't ruin your progress because of impatience, brother."
A more than logical explanation. I expected no less from Kenji, and yet his eyes spelt more than he could hide. She had gotten under his skin just as she had for the rest. She had wormed herself into his good side and he wanted to protect her just as Diesel and Christian did. She was part of us, a reflection of who we were before we committed the sins that pushed us over the edge.
He doesn't want her to lose her purity...at least without making the conscious decision to do so like we all did...
I admired his logic, processed it as he and Christian continued to converse on the possible places that Noah Basset would have disappeared off to.
"I processed the background noise in the video and had my eureka moment when I was able to pin point exactly where our elusive nerd was at the time he was filming it. The rhythm and chime of the bells tolling in the background, a distance away such that it isn't as clear in the video, belong to only one Church and that is the St John Cathedral in downtown Portland. Our two elusive preys are back in the States."
Christian stated, a wide satisfied grin on his lips at the sight of our pleased smiles. He had done an incredible job.
"Well done, brother. That is exceptional work."
I praised before turning to a shell shocked Diamond who seemed to still be processing the brutality that my wife possessed. A part of me longed to see what she had seen, the darkness she had witnessed that had broken her to that level. I wanted to understand just how volatile my malyshka could be.
Pulling out my phone, I dialled a number I kept only for special occasions. The operative on the other side was only sprung when the errand to be run was more than just a simple job. Death, war and despair was his trade and he was the damn best in the business. His reputation had spread far and wide and instilled fear into many of our counterparts and allies altogether.
It seems it is time that we start getting serious. He will deliver the results we need within the timeline of our grand plan.
"Sir. I wasn't expecting your call this soon. Has the timeline been pushed up?"
His voice was deep, laced with the usual rough edge that had made one too many of our enemies pee their pants before the inevitable demise at his hand. Mercy was not a word in my Knight's vocabulary, just as he had been trained. His main purpose was to destroy, rain down chaos and death on our enemies.
"Somewhat. I need you to find someone for me. We know that he's in your area. Around St John's Cathedral. Christian will send you all the details. Find him. No matter what it takes and bring him back to New York alive. Kill everyone who tries to stand in your way or tries to harm your asset. This is a time sensitive matter so I trust that you will get right on it."
I ordered, earning a grunt from the man as I heard instant movement and the familiar tell tale loading of weapons. Christian passed me a thumbs up, signalling that he had already sent everything that our lethal operative would need.
"You always give me such interesting jobs, Sir. Not that I'm complaining but I feel like this will be the most interesting one yet."
I chuckled lowly at that, impressed as always by his observations skills. He was yet another person I was glad to have on my side.
"Indeed considering I am giving you free reign. When you maim and kill those who oppose you or try to stop you from obtaining your asset, do make sure you send a message. I know I don't have to guide you on that."
Some of his best works had made f*****g Diesel cringe. Knight's skills and merciless approach were unmatched.
"f**k yeah. You got it, Sir. I need forty eight hours after which I will make communication once more."
I smiled at that, his words reinforcing my decision all the more.
"I look forward to it. Good luck."
We both hanged up, my eyes travelling to my brothers who each beheld knowing looks. Once the chaos began in Chicago, everything else would follow. Phase one of our plan had began in the most unexpected of circumstances but still right within the intended outcome we wish to achieve.
"Are you sure unleashing Knight right now is okay? I mean, no one can send a declaration of war more than him but..fuck, I feel sorry for the poor bastards who get to face off with him."
Christian stated, his words resonating with each and every one of us. There would be no mistake of our intentions to take down everyone who had dared to oppose us. A strong start to the battle as we kill two birds with one stone.
Two days and the war we have been planning for will have well and truly began...
"They deserve everything that is coming to them and more."
