Hans heard the door to the room open as Ravie walked in with the key. Betty was behind him with the plate of food she’d come to his room carrying. She had looked concerned and guilty that Hans had thought something bad had happened to his prisoner.
Betty was supposed to look after her after all. And she had come to his rooms carrying a plate of food, instead of being with her. Hans had imagined the worst.
And he had prepared himself to fight whoever dared to challenge him. It wasn’t uncommon for the Lords who frequented the pits to stake a claim on a girl that caught their fancy. The princess was too attractive that they would want a piece of her.
