Chapter five

1090 Words
Natasha’s POV It was already dawn, and Leonardo summoned me to join him for breakfast. The treatment I have been receiving here is totally off the chart. It's way beyond what I was actually looking forward to. I had to change from my pajamas just as he had instructed. I walked down the stairs, and my nostrils were welcomed by a sweet savour that enveloped the entire dining room. The aroma was literally making me salivate as I sat down before my meal. Leonardo majestically walked out of his room. “Eat.” He said as he sat down. So I grabbed my cutleries and helped my mouth taste this wonderful platter before me. Cutleries changed against the plates, and there was satisfaction on our faces. I could say that we were having a good time, but that didn't last for too long as the front door was slammed wide open. Maya walked in, dragging her box behind her with a frown etched upon her face. “Your guards won't even help me carry my bags. Is that how fast they have forgotten me?” Leonardo turned, glared at her while chewing the food in his mouth. She leaned in to kiss him, but he pulled back, throwing a piercing stare towards her. She was forced to pull herself back respectfully. “What are you doing here?” He finally asked while staring at the luggage beside her. She sat down, made herself comfortable and reached out to serve herself food. But Leonardo grabbed her hand immediately. “Did I ask you to eat from my table?” “Why are you suddenly being harsh to me?” She whined. “Is it because of this w***e here?” Wow! She just called me a w***e. I see she wants us to start off on the wrong foot. “I asked you a question.” Leonardo's vice pierced cold and firm. There wasn't a single trace of emotion behind it. He looked straight into her eyes like he was willing to plunge her soul right out. But all of that didn't mean anything to Maya. She swayed her hair back like she was welcomed here, and then she leaned back comfortably on the chair. “I have come to take my place here,” she announced. “I have come here to stay.” “You're not welcomed here, Maya.” She frowned like a toddler being denied something she's been begging for. “I'm not leaving if that's what you want.” She leaned forward and trailed her finger through his chest. “But if you want us to recreate those fantasies here, I'll be willing to—” “Get off me!” Leonardo rejected her firmly. That came as a slap to her face. Then she reached into her purse and pulled out a letter. Who the hell still deals with letters these days? “I knew you were going to ask me to leave. So I had my father threaten to end all toes with you if you don't let me stay.” Leonardo just simply stared at the letter and tossed it back to her face. “I thought you broke things up with me?” She nodded softly. “I know I did, and I have finally come to my senses.” “I'm afraid, but that's too late. As you can see, I'm trying to have breakfast with my wife.” She curled her lips to the left, mocking me with her eyes which weighed like I was worthless at the moment. “Hiw the hell did you fall for this—” Leonardo grabbed her neck, pushed her back and pinned her against the wall. She gagged, struggling to breathe properly as he looked straight into her eyes furiously. “Don't you ever go on calling her a w***e. Do you understand?” Maya just kept tapping on his hand to let go, but he wasn't going to do that unless she gave him a response. “Do you understand?” Sue forced a nod. Then he released her from that choke hold right away. She coughed, breathing heavily as she tried to get herself together. Meanwhile, Leonardo just stared at her for a while and walked away. He appeared immensely agitated, all thanks to Maya’s presence. I stood up, losing appetite for my food as well as I made way for the stairs. “Wait!” Maya’s voice echoed, forcing me to stop. She tipped her head up, braised her shoulders as she walked up towards me. She came up close into my personal space, locking a fierce eye contact with me. “Do you feel that you've won, huh?” “Won? I was never in any competition to start with.” She gritted her teeth. “You're being rude towards me.” “I'm very sorry. I didn't mean to sound rude.” I took one step back, trying not to appear imposing on her. She was already looking so agitated, so the last thing I would want to do is add to that problem. “Natasha or whatever you call yourself, I am not here to wrestle with a low-life like you,” she said. “You're going to give out of the way and allow me to enjoy my peace with him.” “No problem, ma'am. I really don't want to get myself into any trouble whatsoever.” She smiled as she tapped my shoulder softly. “That's the spirit.” She walked up the stairs to Leonardo's room, while I went to my own room. I heaved a huge sigh of relief, feeling so much at ease having escaped that immense drama that just played out a few minutes ago. I never expected everything to pay out that way, but from the looks of things, Leonardo completely hates the idea of having Maya in his life. Suddenly, my door slammed open. Maya stood right at the entrance with a dagger firmly secured in her hand. Her breathing grew furious, and her eyes were bloodshot with rage. “What…What is going on?” I stuttered, curling myself up in my bed to avoid her wrath. But it seemed like she had her mind made up to do whatever it is she planned on doing with that dagger. She slowly walked into my room and towards me, gently and calmly closing up the gap between us. “I think I finally realised what I must do.”
