Chapter two

1143 Words
Natasha’s POV Did I just hear him well? He just asked me to marry him. He's got to be kidding. I looked around, trying to see if he was referring to another person, but we were the only ones in the room. His eyes were firm, and there was no sign that he was bluffing about this. I swallowed hard and placed my hand in my chest with a puzzled expression. “Are you talking to me?” “Give it a thought while I have a maiden show you to your room.” He briskly walked out of the living room. Just like he said, a maiden walked into the living room right after he left, and led me to my room. My mouth uncontrollably dropped open as my eyes darted around, taking in the wonderful sight of the room. It was neatly decorated, and it came with a few art pictures on the wall. I've always had a fetish for art. “This is your room, ma'am.” My brows pulled together as I instinctively turned towards her. “Did you just call me ma'am?” I'm literally treated like a slave in my father's house, so I have never been expecting somebody to address me like that. She nodded softly. “The General said you're his guest.” Guest? I thought I was brought here as a slave. What is he up to? I'm really not enjoying this suspense because I wasn't expecting such a reception here. He spent almost a fortune to purchase me, and this maiden is telling me that I'm his guest. “Do you need help with anything?” She asked, snapping me out of my thoughts right away. “Oh…no. You don't have to worry.” “Alright. There's the bathroom whenever you need to take a shower.” She walked out of the room and shut the door behind her. I took my dress off and walked into the bathroom. Then I turned the shower on, and I heaved a huge sigh of relief as the cold shower drummed against my body. This was a real moment of ease for me because it's been a long while since I had a cold bath like this one. I found a towel hanging in the bathroom, and I used it to clean my body. I walked back into my room, but I was startled and dropped the towel to the ground as I saw The General in my room. I immediately reached for the towel to cover my body, but he raised his hand, forcing me to stop. “You have a really nice body.” He smirked, his eyes darting all through my body. I stood there helplessly as he took in the sight of my nakedness. It's a huge shame for me because I know he bought me, and he has every right to do with me as he pleases. He stood up from the sofa and briskly walked towards me while keeping a steady eye contact with me. My breath began to shudder, and my limbs struggled to keep me upright. What is he going to do next? The suspense almost drove me mad as I stared at him. Then he bent down and reached for my towel. “I won't touch you without your permission.” He handed the towel over to me, and I quickly covered myself up. He pulled out a stick of cigarette, lit it up with a lighter, inhaled it and let out a thin stream of smoke to my face. “Have you finished thinking about my proposal?” Shit! I nearly forgot he asked me something. I was caught up with other thoughts in my head. He kissed his teeth while shaking his head. “That silence tells me that you didn't think about it.” I swallowed hard. “I…I was actually—” “I need an answer right away!” He interjected sharply. “How…how is that possible?” He returned to his seat, and majestically sat down with his legs crossed while he continued smoking his cigarette. “I'm a very impatient man. So I need my answer as soon as possible.” “It's…it's not possible—I mean…I have to think about it first. We just met.” His eyes remained firm. “Who told you this proposal was based on the fact that I loved you?” “I…I never said so. But, can I ask why you suddenly proposed marriage to me?” “I'm the only one allowed to ask the questions.” I bowed my head slightly. “I think I'll need more time to think about the proposal.” “It seems like I need to make a few things clear to you,” He said. “You have two options here; accept the proposal or I take you back to the auction and have you given to the second highest bidder who happens to be a sadist.” “This looks like I really don't have an option.” He smirked. “No love. You actually have an option. You just have to make a wise decision.” I took a deep breath as I sat on the edge of the bed, trying to weigh the options. It was obvious that just was going to choose to marry him. But I still don't get why he would purchase me and then propose to me. He's not in love with me, and he can easily do whatever he chooses. But he's asking me to be his wife. This is very awkward, to be honest. I lifted my gaze to him, and he just sat there, calmly tapping his feet in the ground while he enjoyed his cigarette. “You're really wasting my time.” “It's hard for me to make a decision. I…I just need a little more time.” “Time is too much luxury, and I can't afford that.” He stood up from the sofa. “I…what do you want to do?” I stuttered. “It's obvious that you have your mind made up,” he replied. “So I'm going to make the necessary arrangements for you to be sent back to the auction house.” “No! Please! I don't want to go back.” I went down on my knees as tears streamed down my eyes. He arched one of his brows as he looked at me. “Quit wasting my time. You're going back there. That's what you want, right?” “I'll marry you!” I blurted. I didn't want to go back to that auction house for any reason whatsoever. “I didn't hear you well.” I sniffled, taking a deep breath. “I have agreed to be your wife, The General.”
