NORA POV The conference room is behind me. The interrogation isn’t. Every step back to my desk feels heavier than the last. Davis’s questions follow me down the hallway. The three years. Family. How long have you known Jayden? None of those questions scare me as much as the look on his face after my phone lit up. He hadn’t seen the notification. Not properly. But he’d seen me. My reaction. And that’s worse. I lower myself into my chair and force my breathing to slow before anyone notices anything unusual. Around me, the office carries on as if nothing has happened.
