Marcus and Amber stood there for a bit before speaking.
"You're looking beautiful today," Marcus said.
Amber could only laugh at his words.
"What's funny about that?" Marcus stifled a confused laugh.
"It's just," Amber paused, trying to calm herself, "You think I look pretty."
"Well I do!" He protested.
"Prince Marcus," Amber said with a serious tone, "4 years ago you had me locked in a castle for a year. Your lies do no good here."
"Okay if it'd make you feel better I will give a public speech to the town to sincerely apologize for my actions. Until then can we atleast try to be better with each other. We do have to marry." He gestured to Amber and himself.
Amber watched him gesture and took his words to mind.
"If you give a public speech, I will gladly completely take your apology."
Marcus sighed in relief. He went to reach for Amber's hadn only to have Amber pull her own hand away.
"If I were you I wouldn't get my hopes up," Amber said.
"So there is a reason for your hopes to go up in the first place?" Marcus smiled.
Amber gently smacked his hand.
"No!" She lied.
She couldn't help it. She knew despite what happened and what he did to her, she really liked him. She knew there was no one else she'd rather marry.
"You know there is!" He teased once more.
"Marcus shut up!" She said, visibally flustered.
Amber marched off into the castle, Marcus following behind her. She led him all the way to one of the many balconies to watch the sunset.
"This is nice, you must come out here often," Marcus said, staring at the bright pinks, and purples in the sky.
"That'd be incorrect. I don't have much time in my day to actually enjoy the sunset. She's preparing me to be the queen. You know the whole 'The town never sleeps so the queen musn't sleep' thing."
"I don't know, I'm a prince. Not a princess." He said in a girly voice.
Amber giggled at his attempt to make his voice feminine.
"You have a nice laugh," He said, trying to make her happy with him by the end of the day.
"Thank you," Amber smiled.
One of the servants came out and interupted the two.
"Princess Amber, Prince Marcus," the servant greeted.
"Alice," Amber greeted back.
"Alice," Marcus said, repeating Amber.
"The queen instructed me to come out here and make sure everything is ok," Alice said.
"We're fine," Amber said.
"She also said the prince's ride will arrive shortly. Please be prepared," Alice said, leaving the two alone once again.
"Promise me we will meet up again soon?" Marcus turned back to Amber with pleading eyes.
"I'm not one for promises. However, I promise. So long as you make good on your word to the town."
"It's a deal! You won't regret this," He gave Amber a quick kiss before rushing into the castle and down to the carriage that awaited him.
Amber touched her lips in awe as she could not believe he did that. Then she smiled, happy he had done that.
Amber finished watching the sunset with her fingers dancing on her lips. The pinks and purples in the sky seemed to dance more rapidly as Amber lost track of time. Soon it was dark and her mother had found her standing on the balcony.
"Amber! I was worried sick! I thought the prince had kidn*pped you!" The queen said, hugging Amber.
Amber just stayed silent, lost in her own reality.
"Amber!" The queen shook Amber a bit.
"Huh? What?!" Amber snapped back into the moment.
"Don't scare me like that again!"
"I apologize. I was just...thinking." Amber apologized.
"About what?" The queen smiled.
"Nothing," Amber shook her head.
She didn't want her mother knowing of the thoughts she had just had. Not because they were bad, but because her mother would love and eat up every second of Amber saying this marriage was going to be alright.
"Amber," the queen tried to pry information.
"It's nothing!" Amber said, leading her mother into the castle.
She released her mothers hand once she got to the stairs.
"I need to change. I'll be with Melissa afterwards." Amber said.
The queen watched as her eldest daughter rushed up the stairs. Once Amber got to her room, she closed the door and looked in the mirror.
'You look beatiful today'
Memories from earlier in the day had flooded her brain, making her smile brightly. She took off her tiara and placed it on it's stand. She then tugged on the elatic holding her braid together. When the elastic came out, the loose braid unfolded and what's left was mildly wavy hair. Amber headed to her closet to pick out a nightgown.
'God where is it?!' She thought to herself.
She pulled out a pastel purple nightgown that was matching with one of Melissa's. She took off her dress and slipped into the nightgown. She looked into the mirror again and smiled.
'Perfect!' She thought.
Amber walked out of her room and headed to Melissa's. She spotted Melissa playing with some dolls. She knocked, to let her sister know she was there.
"Hey, I know you may be upset but do you want to by any chance match jammies with me and have a dance party?" Amber asked, hoping her sister would say yes.
To Amber's surprise, Melissa faced her with a big grin on her face. Melissa raced to her closet and put on her pastel purple nightgown to match with Amber. Amber searched her sister's toy drawer and grabbed a pink boa, wrapping it loosely around her own shoulders. Melissa came back and pressed play on the small music player. When the song started playing Amber and Melissa started dancing in goofy ways, making both of them laugh.
"I love you Amber!" Melissa yelled over the music.
This made Amber smile.
"I love you too Melissa!" Amber said louder.
When they had danced for a bit, Melissa bega to get tired. Amber stopped the music and picked up Melissa, bringing her sister to Melissa's bed. She placed Melissa in the bed and covered her in the butterfly covers her sister had. Amber walked to the door, turning the light off.
"Bye-bye Amber," Melissa yawned.
"Night Melissa," Amber whispered.
Amber left the room, closing the door behind her. She walked to her own room, closed the door and turned out the lights. She then made sure her curtains were closed properly.
'Don't want the sun to wake me up again' she thought to herself.
Amber walked to her bed and climbed in. She was already exhausted. As soon as her head rested on the pillow she fell asleep.
