Ryan ran. He didn't think. He didn't question. The word on the glass burned into his retina, and his legs moved before his brain caught up. He burst through the basement door, up the stairs, into the main room. Nelson was standing by the window. "What happened?" "The mirror—my reflection—it said RUN." Nelson's hand went to his belt. "Run from what?" Ryan turned. The basement stairs were dark. The door at the bottom was still open, but the light from below had gone out.
