CHAPTER 12

JANE I stir in my sleep before finally opening my eyes. I check the time and it's already six AM. It's Saturday, the big day has arrived and I have been doing my best in avoiding Luke and luckily I succeeded. He even stopped following me around the school because he saw that I was serious. I can't lie and say I don't miss him, I do, I miss him so much it hurts. As for our Maths practices, I haven't attended any of them but he always sent me the previous year's exercises and I asked Erika for help in some of them. Since it's the wedding day today, mom and Roger decided to go to court and do the necessary things and get married there then they'll host some sort of a party at Roger's house and celebrate with close friends and families. I invited Erika and her boyfriend Michael and Alexis. I sit up straight rubbing my eyes and yawning at the same time. I remove the covers and get off the bed. I make my bed then make my way to the bathroom and freshen up. After a well deserved shower, I grab my robe and put it on then leave my room heading for the kitchen. I need coffee, I'll function better after my cup of coffee. "Good morning, sleepy head!" Erika greets me with a warm smile. "Hey!" I mumble. "Coffee?" I smile widely and nod excitedly. What would I do without you? "You're the best," I mutter. "I know. What would you do without me?" She muses. "I would literally die, trust me," I chuckle. "True. Here." She hands me the cup and I immediately accept it. My head hurts, my body is numb and my mind is not working at all. "Thank you." I take a sip and man, I've never been this happy to taste coffee. A smile draws itself on my lips almost cracking my face up. "Where's mom?" "Upstairs getting ready. Let's go help her." "Yeah." We leave the kitchen and head to my mom's bedroom. "Good morning, mom!" I close the door behind me. "Good morning, my angel." She replies. "Why aren't you ready?" Erika asks. "The ceremony doesn't start until two in the afternoon then after that we'll have party until late." "Party?" Erika exclaimed excitedly. "I love parties." "I'm sure you do," mom muses. "So we have all the time we need right?" I ask. "No you don't, you have to go to Roger's house and help Monica make arrangements." What? No! "Now?" I ask. "Yes now sweetheart." "But mom..." "No Jane. Monica needs all the help she can get. Plus Luke and Adrian are there. I'm sure they'll be happy to see you," She says. "Yaaay!" I force a smile then drink my coffee. "Erika, sweetie. Can you give us a minute. I need to talk to my daughter." "Yes, Mrs Adams." Erika leaves the room. Have you ever felt like you were stuck between a rock and a hard place? That's me right now. My mom and Roger being some kind of a rock and Luke a hard place. I want my mom to be happy at the same time I want Luke for myself but I can't be with Luke because of our parents. Erika was right, this is going to be a lot harder than I thought. "Honey, I know how you feel about this marriage. But I want this, I love Roger, I've never loved anyone the way I love Roger," she mutters. "I'm sure you felt the same way when you married my father." "Me and your dad... we..." "You weren't meant to be. I get it, you don't have to say it again." I cut in. "Honey, please just try and see this from my point of view. After the wedding, try and get to know Roger. You'll see for yourself, he's really a good man who loves your mother." "That's the thing mom, I don't want to get to know him. Can't you and daddy sort things out?" "Jane, that's enough. Your father and I are divorced and we are never getting back together," she cooed. "Okay, Taylor Swift. I heard you. No need to rub it in." "Good. Now get ready and drive to Roger's house and help Monica out, okay?" "Yes mom," I force a smile, nodding then I leave her room. I go to my room and tell Rika to get ready as well. We take all the things we'll be needing when we get there and head to the garage. "Are you okay?" Erika asks, concerned. "Yeah, I am very fine. Good actually." Liar. "Jane, talk to me." "I'm fine, Rika. Now please, drop it." "Okay." We get in the car and I drive to Luke's house. The ride is so quiet until Erika decides to play music. We arrive at Luke's house and the tent outside and everything seems fine and decorated so well. I honestly don't know what Erika and I are supposed to do here. I pull up in the garage and we get our stuff then make our way inside. Getting in the living room, I silently pray that I don't see Luke but all my prayers end up in vain when the Greek god appears shirtless coming down the staircase. Kings of abs. I bite my bottom lip, running my fingers through my hair at the back of my head, looking away. He gets to the floor and stands right in front of us with the brightest smile ever plastered on his beautiful face. "Ladies!" He folds his arms in front of his chest. "Good morning, Luke!" Erika replies. "It's a good morning indeed, Erika." He smiles. "Yeah. Where should we put our stuff?" Erika asks. "I'll show you." "Thank God you're here." Monica says coming from the kitchen. "I need someone to drive to the store. I need to buy some things." "I can drive you." Erika immediately replies. "No it's okay, Rika, I can..." "I'll do it, give me the keys." "You can take my keys, there on the coffee table,"Luke smiles at Erika. He's doing this on purpose. "Alright, let's go." She takes the keys and approaches Monica. "I'm Erika, Jane's friend." "Nice to meet, sweetheart. Call me Monica," Monica hugs her. "We're leaving." They disappear leaving both of us alone. "Bye mama!" Luke calls out after they leave and turns to me. "She's your mother?" I ask. "She raised me so practically yes," he replies sincerely and I nod with a little smile. "Where should I put these?" "Follow me." He climbs the staircase, leading the way and takes me to a guest room. The room is big like my kitchen, the double bed near corner of the room with white sheets, the headboard, the floor looks spotless. The windows are big enough and show a beautiful view of the neighborhood. There's a TV on the wall. I put my clothes with Erika's on the bed. "Thank you." I mutter. "How are you?" He asks surprising me. I didn't expect that question. "I'm okay," I go to the window and stand in front of it, taking in the beautiful view of the city. I watch the beautiful sky as the sun starts to shine showing that it's going to be a beautiful day, beautiful for the couple getting married today. Beautiful for normal people who are not in love with their step brothers. Beautiful for people with... In love? I'm in love with Luke. I think to myself. I can't be in love with Luke. It's not possible, it's not normal. We haven't known each other for that long. It's only been a few weeks. How can I be in love with him? I need to get over myself, my mom is getting married. This is her day so I have to ignore my feelings for Luke. My mom comes first, so I have to think about her and how beautiful she's going to look in her gown, her smile when she says I do and how happy she will be when she goes for her honeymoon. My insecurities are not important right now. To hell with how I feel about Roger. I feel Luke's arms around me, holding me hostage. How I've missed his touch. I battle on whether to let him or push him away but then as if he read my mind he speaks: "Don't fight it, Sugarplum," he kisses the top of my head, tightening his grip around my body exactly the way I want him to. Without thinking I lean my head back on his shoulder, nuzzling my nose in the dent of his neck, closing my eyes in the process. He smells so good. "I missed you, Greek god," I mumble dreamily and he intertwines our hands, chuckling. "I missed you too, Sugarplum," he replies. We remain standing there, cuddling, enjoy each other's company until I decide to ruin the moment. "So... we'll be family now," I mutter and he loosens his grip around me. "Just don't, okay?" "We can't run away from it, Luke, we'll be family. You'll be my brother." He let's go of me backing away. "Stop! Just stop okay? Can't we enjoy each other's company without bringing the so called marriage up?" He growls. "It's our reality, Luke. We can't run away from it. It's happening and there's nothing we can do about that." "I know okay? I f*****g know but I can't help how I feel about you. I can't just ignore or turn off my feelings." "I can't do this right now, I just... I can't..." I say, walking away. "Don't walk out on me, Jane." "Watch me!" I head to the door. "Jane please!" He begs causing me to stop on my tracks. "Don't go." "Luke." I slowly turn to him. He approaches me. "I can't stop thinking about you. I've tried but I can't," he cups my face and I hold his wrists, leaning into his touch. "Luke-" "And I'm dying to kiss you right now." I blush and lower my head when he says that. "Jane, look at me." His deep voice sounds so amazing in my ears. With his index finger he touches my chin, making me look at him. It staggers me everytime I see it in his gorgeous eyes how much he wants me. I've never felt this wanted before. It makes feel worthy, beautiful, strong, it makes me feel bold. It makes me want to burn the whole world and everyone in it so that I would be left with him, only him. I want to push boundaries and discover new ones. For a moment I forget about everything, I feel disoriented. My heart is pounding like crazy threatening to burst out of my chest. Luke Williams is devastatingly beautiful with a face of an archangel. His beautiful blue eyes stare right into my hazel ones as if searching for something, some sort of peace. He holds my wrists, placing my palms on my chest. I can feel how fast and rapid his heartbeat is. "You feel how fast my heartbeat is?" He questions, his voice as low as it can get. I can only nod. "It only beats like this when I'm with you, Jane, only with you." I run my palms from his chest to his shoulders, his arms, back to his hard chest then right on his abs. I've always wanted to do that. I slowly run my fingers through his gorgeous abs. Gorgeous? I don't know if that's the right word to describe abs but whatever. Everything about Luke is gorgeous. I look up at him, staring in his beautiful ocean eyes. The attraction I feel for him is so much stronger than anything I've ever felt before. Mesmerized, I take hold of his hand and place it around my waist just above my ass. His hair is on the side of his face and I want to run my fingers through the curls. I know how it would feel in my fingers, soft and silky. His eyes smile revealing a bright spark though his mouth is relaxed. I'm intoxicated and intimidated by him. He lets his forehead touch mine and I close my eyes, feeling his fresh warm breath. The s****l frustration between us is just unbearable. "Jane." He whispers. "Greek god..." I whisper back opening my eyes only to find him staring intensely at me, hunger, need and want evident in his eyes. "Kiss me, Jane." "Luke." "Just do it, please," he mutters. "Just a kiss, Sugarplum." Giving in to plea, I take both his hands to my waist and I let my lips touch his in slight teasing manner. I then give him a short yet sensual kiss that leaves him wanting more. His breathing is erratic as well as mine but I am keeping my cool. I want him so bad, it hurts. I lean in again and kiss him again. Luke growls, grabbing my waist, moving his lips aggressively over mine. The kiss isn't romantic, it's volatile, passionate, demanding, and carnal, we're letting all our emotions out. No words are said but everything is evident through the heated kiss. His hands travel down to my ass and he squeeze my butt cheeks through my dress. I stifle a moan of pleasure into his mouth. The next thing I know, his hard bulge pokes me. He lets out a moan and it's the most sexiest sound I've ever heard. He pulls back breathless and stares right in my eyes with desire and hunger. "I want you," he murmers breathless. "I-I can't," I say, whispering. He doesn't reply, instead he takes my hand and places on his hard rock bulge. At first I'm caught off guard, I didn't expect that to happen. "Go ahead, Jane," he says as he guides my hand to squeeze him through his shorts. He moans guiding me. He unzips his shorts and guides my hand inside, letting me touch him bare skin. I gasp when I feel how big he is, he is gifted, I can't lie. "Go on." He lets his shorts along with his boxers drop down the floor and I do nothing other than to swallow. "Sugarplum... you are not going anywhere until you make me c*m," he tells me more like commanding me. I swear nothing has ever turned me on in my life. With all the courage I have this very moment, I change my position and push him to the door. I wrap my fingers around his hard length and slowly stroke him. I've seen how it's done. I'm not so innocent after all, I've watched a couple of porns every now and again so I know a couple of things even though I have never tried them before. He lets out a moan leaning his head on the door, the more I stroke, the more hard he grows. He puts his hand on mine and guides me, accelerating the pace. "f**k, Janet!" The way he says my name sends some electric shocks in my blood and encourages me to carry on and please him the same way he always pleased me. "f**k yes, just like that." He groans saying all sorts of things. It pleases me to see how I turn him on and how badly he desires me when he looks at me. It gives me courage and it makes me bold. No guy has ever looked at me the way he does. He grows even bigger in my hand. Before I realize, he shoots his load in my hand, cuming endlessly. He leans on the door, his knees weak, his eyes shut. After a few seconds, he finally opens his eyes to meet my gaze and a smile draws itself on his lips. A satisfied smile. He lowers his head and his lips crash onto mine in an intense yet possessive and passionate furry. I find myself smiling through the hot heated kiss and we both pull back. "What?" He asks returning the smile. "I don't know... I guess I should return the favour." I say. "You just return it." "Not all of it." With that I raise my hand that's covered with his c*m and I bring my index finger to my mouth. I in a slow and seductive manner wrap my lips around my finger and suck it, tasting his sweetness. He groans, his eyes becoming more darker. "If you keep doing that, you can forget about the stupid wedding. I'll f**k you so hard and make this day ours." I blush at his statement. I stand on my tippy toes, pulling him into a kiss. When I pull back, he bites my lower lip, making sure to linger and sucking on it. "You're amazing, Sugarplum." "You too." I reply as our foreheads touch, his hands on my waist just above my ass, holding me captive. The wedding ceremony in court goes smoothly as expected and we all leave the court and drive back to Roger's house around four PM. I change into black sweater, a black vest and sneakers. I let my hair loose and do a touch up on my makeup. I only change my lipstick and put on a red one. I stand in front of the mirror admiring myself. I look beautiful. You look hot, Sugarplum. I blush as I just mentally called myself Sugarplum. Only Luke calls me that. I have no idea where he got that name but I love it. I love it because it came from him, from my Greek god. "Kill me already." I immediately turn around only to find Luke leaning against the wall near the entrance looking at me with a smile on his face. This guy will be the death of me. When did he come here? "How long have you been standing there?" I ask him. "Long enough to watch you playing Miss USA in front of the mirror," he muses and I chuckle. "Dog." I stammer. He closes the door behind him and approaches me. He's wearing blue jeans with a black t-shirt that's not buttoned all the way up and white sneakers. His hair is hanging at the side of his face. "You look beautiful," he mutters running his fingers through my hair. "Especially with your hair loose." "Thank you, you're not so bad yourself," I say looking up at him, he smiles down at me. He takes my hands and wrap them around him exactly the way I did this morning and then he cups my face in his strong hands and locks his lips with mine, sending goosebumps all over my body, my blood running as fast as it can. He kisses me real slow and passionate, I'm also standing on my tippy toes, gripping his t-shirt on his back. He moves to my neck and I moan slightly as he nibbles and sucks my skin. I hiss when he bites my skin and I'm sure he left a mark there, letting others knows that I'm his. Then he comes back to my lips and kisses the living daylights out of me. We both pull back, catching our breaths. "We have to go to the others before they get suspicious," I mutter. "Let them get suspicious." "Luke no..." I pull away but he pulls me back laughing. "I'm joking." He kisses my forehead. "I won't do anything to hurt you." He hugs me, kissing the top of my head and rest his chin right where he just kissed me. "Can I ask you for a favour?" He asks. "Hmm!" I hum. "Spend the night with me tonight." He mutters and I immediately break free from him. "Are you serious right now?" "Just this once and I swear I..." "No! What if they catch us?" "They won't be here, they're leaving for their honeymoon and they won't be home until Friday next week." "Adrian will be here and Monica too." "Monica doesn't stay here, she has her family." "That's no excuse, Luke. I can't take that risk." "Why?" "Because..." I start. "I just can't do it." "Okay." He replies cooly. "And I won't be spending the night here tonight. I'll drive back to my house with Rika." I tell him. "We'll see about that." He muses heading go the door. "Luke wait." I stop him because I noticed he has lipstick on. He immediately turns to me smiling. "What is it now?" "You have lipstick on." "Oh! Do I?" He muses. "Luke." "Okay, I'll wipe it off." He comes back and looks at the mirror. "Let me just... I'll remove it," I say as I take out some wipe and wipe the lipstick off him. He's looking at me amused and definitely enjoying the situation. I clear my throat nervously. "Can I kiss you again?" He smiles. "No, you cannot. Let me finish here then you can..." "Kiss you. Then I can kiss you." He muses "I'll leave this lipstick on." "I don't mind. I can show everyone out there that my girlfriend and I just made up." "I'm not your girlfriend, Luke." I stammer and he takes my hand off him, his smile disappearing fast as he stands up and heads to the door. "Enjoy the rest of the night, Jane." With that, he's gone like he was never here. I stand there lost realizing that I just ruined a beautiful moment. Good job, Jane. I mentally scold myself. "f**k!" I throw the wipe in the bin. "You're here?" Alexis coos coming in. "Your mom's looking for you. And may I just say you look hot." "Thank you, you look beautiful too." I compliment her. "Thanks. Now let's go to your mom." We leave the guest room and Alexis takes me to the main bedroom to see my mom. She looks beautiful in her blue gown. Like a queen she is. "Well aren't you looking beautiful?" I coo. "Aaw! Thank you, my baby. What are you wearing?" "Anything wrong with my outfit?" I ask. "No, I just thought... never mind." "Mom! I'm here for you, just be happy I didn't visit my dad for the weekend." I tell her. "You were going to your father?" "Yes. But then I thought against it. You needed me so I had to be here. I don't like your new husband but if he makes you happy then I'll make an effort to get to know him." I say sincerely. "Thank you, honey." She hugs me and never have I felt so guilty in my life. I just freaking kissed Luke and now I'm assuring my mom that I will give her husband chance. "On one condition though," I start. "I knew it. What is it?" "He has to prove that he's worthy to be with you or else, I'm out of here." "Now that's my daughter right there. The bossy little girl I gave birth to. I love her." She muses. "Whenever my mama's happy, I'm happy," I mutter. Liar. "I love you mom." "I love you more, honey." She kisses my forehead making sure to linger and finally lets go squeezing my shoulder. "I'll be downstairs if you need me." "Okay, sweetie." With that I leave the room and make my way downstairs only to meet up with a noisy Erika. She's waiting for me by the railways, tapping her foot on the ground, waiting in anticipation. Oh no. "Hey!" "That's all you're going to say?" She asks and I let out a nervous toothed smile. "What happened?" "Nothing." "Don't give me that bullshit. Luke just left the house looking like he was ready to explode. What happened?" "Can we talk later? After the party." "Not after the party, sometime during the party because I'll leave early with Michael." She tells me. "Okay, I'll leave early too, after the parents leave." "Great. You're sure you're okay though?" "I am. Let's just help around and enjoy the party." I say. "Okay." She smiles warmly at me. At least I know she's not angry with me. I need her more than anything else right now especially now that I'm in the pit I got myself into. The party goes on smoothly, everybody is happy, having fun, dancing and drinking their worries out. My mom is having the time of her life. I have never seen her so happy in my life ever, not after she divorced my dad. She's really happy with Roger and I love seeing her that way, she deserves it. I haven't seen Luke ever since he left me in the guest room after I told him I wasn't his girlfriend. I feel bad for having said that. But what would he have me do? It's not like I'm enjoying what's going on. I don't like the fact that he is my step brother but there's nothing I or he can do about that. We just have to accept and embrace that this is our reality and nothing is going to change that. And the fact that I'm beginning to fall in love with him isn't helping either, it's making matters worse. I hate it. "You remember that song you danced to last year at your birthday party?" My mom asks smiling. "Mom, don't." I stop her because I know exactly where this is going. She wants me to dance. She loves it when I dance and I think it's because I take after her. She was a dancer but then she never pursued it because her passion was medicine so she followed her dream. My dream is to be a dancer, I live for it. "You were dancing for Shakira's hips don't lie." She remarks "Yes mom, I remember." "Why don't you dance tonight?" She asks. "Mom, not tonight." "Consider it your present for my wedding." She mutters. "Come on, mom." "Who wants Jane to dance?" Roger asks and everyone claps, cheering up. "You can't say no to the guests." Mom coos. Giving in with their request, I speak: "Fine! One dance and no more." "Okay." They put the music on and I dance to the song. As I am dancing, my mind doesn't thinking of anything else but the Greek god who drives me crazy. The way he says my name, the way he kisses me. The way his touch feels on my skin, how safe and loved I feel in his arms, how he looks at me. It all comes back flooding my mind and I can't think of anything else. Why can't I forget about him? You love him, that's why? But I've only known him for weeks. I don't love Luke. That's it. The song ends and everyone cheers for me. "You were amazing. I can dance but not like that." Erika muses. "Don't be silly, you know you're a good Dancer." We both laugh. "I need go to the bathroom, I'll be back." I walk inside and head to the bathroom. I wash my face and dry it. I tie my hair into a ponytail and stare at my reflection. What is happening to me? Why am I like this? I hear the door opening and to my surprise it's Erika. I expected Luke but I guess he doesn't wanna talk to me. "Hey! You're ready to talk now?" She asks. "No it's fine, I'm good now." "Jane, come on." "I'm really good, I promise." I lie. "Okay. Well I guess I'll leave you alone." She walks away. "Luke and I kissed." I blurt out without thinking. "What?" "Well we did more than kissing actually." I add. "Y-you mean..." She stammers. "No but close." "Woah what?" "Yeah and that made him think we've made up, that I'm his girlfriend. That's why he was in that state when he left." "Jane no." "I don't know what to do, Rika. I just... I... everytime I'm with him, I want nothing more than to be with him, hold him and tell him that I'm..." "That you're in love with him? Is that it?" "What? No!" "Wow!" "I'm not in love with him, Rika." I say. "Who you're trying to convince, Jane? You're so in love with him, you can't even hide it." "I'm not in love with him." "I'm not even going to argue with you. What I can tell you is you're in deep s**t and you need to make a decision fast." She tells me. "I hate not knowing what to do." "Either you both tell your parents about this or you make it clear to Luke that you two can't be together. But I know you can't do either because you care about everyone but yourself. Why?" "She's my mom, Rika." "And Luke?" "We should go back to the party." "Yeah. Let's go back to the party. Think about what I said." She insists and I can only nod. "Whatever happens, just know you have me, okay?" "Okay." We leave the bathroom and go back to the party only to find mom and Roger already living for their honeymoon.
