Layla was taking out the trash, from the restaurant’s back door, it was her break time and she made plans with Nicholas to eat lunch with him, in the park nearby; she had a double s**t today, because a her coworker asked her to cover for her.
She was walking to the park, with EarPods in, listening to her favorite song, fake love by bts, and because of that, she couldn’t hear two guys catcalling her, which got them angry, she didn’t turn or pay them any attention, which irritated them and got them, to approach her and hold her arm, to force her to look at them.
“Hey!” Layla screamed when she felt someone holding her hand forcibly.
“You seem to think of yourself highly, you are not even that pretty.” One of them said arrogantly.
(This has been said to me and it still confuses me to this day, I didn’t even say anything to the guy or look at him ?♀️)
“What? Tf? What is wrong with you? Is there something wrong with your brain?” Layla shook him off and tried to walk away, but the other guy stopped her and held her arm tightly; she couldn’t shook him off and was being dragged away by him; she tried to kick and punch but nothing worked; she was about to scream, when someone threw lunchboxes at the person holding her, it was Nicholas.
He came running to her and punched both of the guys, held her hand and started running away with her, while the two guys got up and tried to catch up to them.
They stopped at a back alley and hid behind a trash bin, Nicholas’s hand was shaking and Layla could feel his heartbeats from where she was standing.
“That was so scary.” Nicholas admitted, almost crying because of how nervous and anxious he felt, he wasn’t good with fights, he hated them and was scared of getting into one, and Layla knew that, because he was known to be a weakly at school.
Layla stared at him for a second and then smiled, she thanked him and kissed his cheeks deeply. She let go of his hand, to see if they can go, while Nicholas sat down on the ground with flushed cheeks and a fast beating heart, either from the kiss or the chase.
The man explained that he has been tracking down Jonathan for almost 4 years, because of how he treated him back in the castle, in their home country, where he humiliated him and made him feel inferior, which is an unacceptable way to treat a high rank guard like himself, so today he is here to take his life; he said that with arrogance, confident in his ability to escape and kill Jonathan, a man associated with evil.
After saying all of that, Jonathan started slowly remembering who was this man, the only thing that was missing was his name. “Wait, what was your name again?” Jonathan asked him, glancing at the tied up man with no smile on his face.
“Noa, with no h.” The man responded, his nose high up in heaven, his name was chosen after many days of consideration, because someone like him needs a fitting name to represent his power.
While Noa was busy, thinking of a way to free himself and kill Jonathan the most painful way possible, Roselyn and Jonathan were discussing what to do with the man, they can’t let him go, he will expose their location to the others in their kingdom; there is another possibility, and that is to kill him, but none of them wants to do it, it’s too brutal, the man haven’t done anything to them, and even the things he have done to Jonathan before or the stalking, is not that deserving of losing his life, so their only option left is to lock him up.
They turned around, to look at him, since they were standing sideways, not directly looking at him, to find him, trying to untie the rope, Jonathan stopped him and crouched down right beside him, giving him two options, he either become a prisoner at their dungeon, that does exist and is not just something he made up on the spot, or work for them and never leave this place; both were cruel but it was for their safety and his, actually just theirs.
“You want me, the great Noa, to serve the likes of you, peasants? No way.” The man answered, with a smug look on his face, not willing to back down and admit defeat, he is going down as a man, as a soldier.
“t*****e it is, babe, get the axe and heat up the long fork.” Roselyn said, proceeding to untie the man and harshly grab his hair, while Jonathan nodded with a stupid look on his face, happy with the nickname Roselyn gave him. “First of all, I want to burn your face, it irritates me.”
“What?!? No! Wait, wait, you can’t, I will be your worker, your slave or whatever, just not my face.” Noa begged, completely changing his approach to the situation, he wasn’t ready to lose his face, he will never be ready to lose it, his face is the second most fascinating thing in the world, he can’t possibly roam around the kingdom or anywhere, with a burned face, that’s humiliating and death worthy.
“Good, now I don’t trust you enough to just let you move around freely, so I am going to put a curse on you.” Roselyn told him, as she tied him up again and glanced at Lyn, who was floating right beside her.
“A curse? Are you a dark witch?” Noa asked her, looking at her, horrified, did he just encounter one of the deadliest people on this world? The ones known to be evil and nothing good, their only purpose in life being to am destroy other’s happiness, is she is one of those people?
“I guess so.” Roselyn replied to him nonchalantly, not really understanding what he meant with it, only understanding that it’s a bad thing, and by how Jonathan reacted, how he punched Noa’s face, it seems to be the case, but she doesn’t mind that, what’s wrong with being bad anyway?
‘Lyn, can you tell one of the gods to put a curse on him? Is that even possible?’ Roselyn asked Lyn, moving away from Noa, who was getting hit again by Jonathan, when he started talking about the devil theory and how it’s all connected to Roselyn.
‘Anything is possible, if the villain can do it, we can as well.’ Lyn said proudly, forgetting that she was supposed to keep the curse thing a secret, because it would have been a better story that way; now the plot will be different from before and it could lead to more complications, oh well, too late to regret it now.
‘The villain? You mean Corey? He put a curse on someone?’ Roselyn asked, a bit shocked, not expecting Corey to be someone who put a curse on someone else, she thought of him more of a guy to handle his issues with his own hands, but guess things aren’t always what they seem like; after all, she did think that Jack was straighter than a pole, but look how that turned out, which lead her to believe that any pole can be bent if you try hard enough, but anyway back to Lyn.
‘More specifically on himself.’ Lyn added, shocking Roselyn even more than she already did, to the point where it showed on her face, making Jonathan wonder what was wrong, maybe he wasn’t supposed to put him upside down on the tree, better put him on the ground before he gets scolded.
Roselyn wasn’t paying any attention to what Jonathan was doing, she didn’t even see him drop Noa on the ground like a sack of potatoes, all she cared about and focused on at the moment is to get more information out of Lyn, while she can, because if she let’s go of the matter now, they will never bring this subject up again and that’s a garante from the author, because honestly the author doesn’t have that great of a memory and never did the characters, so all the questions should be asked right now, for example, the three words Roselyn is about to say in her mind: ‘What? When and why?’
‘Because he didn’t want to hurt you and it was a couple of years ago. I wasn’t supposed to tell you about this, but anyway, what curse do you want to put on the man?’ Lyn changed the subject, unwilling to spill any more beans but Roselyn already made a mental note to herself, to ask Corey about it, if she meets him anytime soon.
‘Em, yeah, the curse will be, if he ever leaves the house or even attempts to, without permission or without any of us, me and the other, knowing, he will be strike by lightning, not enough to kill him but to harm him enough so he understands what’s the consequences of leaving will be.’
‘That’s kind of harsh.’ Lyn said, feeling bad for Noa, he did try to kill them and failed miserably, then claimed to be able to do it even though, they were the one with the upper hand, what does this say about him?
‘Life is harsh in general.’ Roselyn replied to her, with a dead look on her face, he was the one who chased them and got himself into this, if’s not her fault he is a damn i***t.
After their small discussion, Lyn requested from Cyan, to put the curse on Noa, and he did just that, without any questions, because he didn’t care that much anymore, that world is going to get destroyed anyway, what’s wrong about putting curses on a person or two while they are at it?
The unbothered god put the curse on the arrogant knight and went back to sleep, without any signs of doing anything, so when Roselyn told Jonathan to let Noa go, Noa thought that it could be his chance because there is no proof that he had a curse on him, Roselyn didn’t do anything to him after all, so he tried to run and Roselyn let him, wanting to see what’s going to happen to him.
“Are you sure about this?” Jonathan asked her, slightly worried, seeing that Noa has reached the gate and is meters away from leaving their property.
“Yes.” As soon as the word left her mouth, clouds started appearing and lighting strike, pointing exactly at Noa, who couldn’t do anything but scream and hope that his face doesn’t get harmed. “See?” Roselyn said, with a smile; going to fetch the now unconscious Noa, to get him inside the house and heal his wounds.
“I don’t know why but I like this side of you”. Jonathan told her, walking beside her and dreamily looking at her, as if she was a goddess of some sort.
“I will show you more of it then.” Roselyn said with a wink, her attempt at flirting successfully being attained, making Jonathan blush, as if he was a maiden in love, and feel his heart beat faster, she is surely going to be the death of him.
