Intruder

1023 Words
Jack was sitting in his room, talking to his online friend on a call, when he suddenly heard noises coming from downstairs, and they weren’t noises from someone opening the door like it hoped it would be; it wasn’t Leonard, he knew how Leonard sounded when he got home, he would hear the car engine and Leonard’s steps, but he heard nothing of that, so he got a bit worried and told his friend that he thought someone broke in.     His friend told him to get a weapon and hide, quickly; he did just that, he got his metal baseball bat and went to his closet and hid inside and turned down the volume from his phone, and made it silent; he sat in the closet, shaking and holding back, wondering if he was going to make it through this without any harm.     A few minutes go by, and someone opened his door, he took a deep breath and held back his whimpers; seconds later, the closet door was open and he reacted fast by hitting the person in the head and running out of the room.     While he ran downstairs, Natasha held her head and screamed in pain, then screamed and went to chase whoever that was, with her head was bleeding, she didn’t care, she needed to get that person and burn them down with this house.     Jack ran outside and as soon as he stepped outside, he saw Leonard’s car, which made his heart calm down a bit; he ran to the car and stopped in front of it; Leonard stepped outside and he immediately hugged him, crying and begging him to save him.     “It’s okay, I am here, calm down.” Leonard comforted and held him closely in his arms; his teenage cousin cried his heart out and ended up fainting, or rather sleeping, because of how stressed and anxious he was, he got overwhelmed and when it was over, he was finally able to rest.     When Leonard noticed that Jack fell asleep, he put him in the car, locked it, and got inside to see if Natasha was there. She was, she was at the end of the stairs, seemingly dead, because of the amount of blood that was around, she must have fallen down the stairs, her position was messed up and it seemed like she broke her leg.      But since Leonard wanted to make sure, she was no harm, he got a knife from the kitchen and slowly approached her; he crouched down and touched her, she didn’t move, so he turned her over to face him and saw her bruised face and a metal bar that was at the second stair; with that he was sure, she couldn’t wake up and called an ambulance.     ‘He must have hit her badly, god, I hope she is not dead, I don’t want him to carry the burden of killing someone, even if she deserved it; I should have never dated her, I did this.’ Leonard blamed himself for everything, Jack being attacked, getting traumatized for who knew how long for, Natasha getting injured and possibly dying, it was all on him because he did this, by breaking up with her and pushing her to do this.     Leonard looked down and started regretting his decision of breaking up with Natasha, why did he make that decision on his own? He should have told Charles to make that decision for him; nothing would ever come from him taking his decisions on his own, other than death, this was the second time this happened.     While this was happening, a car parked in front of Leonard’s house and someone walked out of it, he walked to the house and saw that the door was open and got inside, to find Leonard in front of a pool of blood with a girl, laying in said pool of blood.     “Oh my god, is she okay? What happened?” Leonard recognized that voice, it was Kin, who walked at him fast and asked him in an anxious voice about Natasha.     “I don’t know, I called an ambulance and I am waiting for them to get there, they will be here in less than five minutes.” Leonard said in a slightly shaken voice, he was scared, scared of Natasha losing her life, he would never be able to face her parents and brothers if that happened.     “Okay, I will with you.” Kin said and stood beside Leonard. Half an hour ago, when Leonard left, he pondered if he should follow him or stay with the kids, Lucas, Layla, and Nicholas, or follow Leonard; at the end, he locked the door and hoped that they won’t get up or need anything, and raced to get to Leonard’s house, as fast as he could.     “Thank you,” Leonard said with a weak smile. They stood for a few moments of silence before Kin apologized for making Leonard break up with Natasha. “It’s my fault, don’t apologize, I made that decision and I should be the one to take all of the blame, not you.”     “But it’s not your fault, you didn’t know this would happen, yes, some of the blame may fall on you, but like you decided to do what I told you to, she also decided to break in and potentially burn down the house, along with Jack.” Kin reasoned and Leonard listened, and understood what he said, he agreed with him but he still blamed himself and stayed quiet, until the ambulance arrived and took Natasha away.   And because Leonard didn’t feel like it was his place to stay with her, he called her oldest brother and told him about the situation, and the hospital they were taking her to; he stood at the end of the road, watching the ambulance left when Kin put his hand on his shoulder and told to come home with him.     Leonard was about to refuse when Kin dragged him to his car and told him that he wasn’t going to take no as an answer.
