“Do you think this is a good idea?” Kin

“Of course it’s not, we are running away on a boat like we are newlyweds who are suffering from the unsupportive parents trope in stories.” Leonard

“I don’t want to get married to you though.” Kin

“Me neither, I am not gay, yet.” Leonard

“But if you were, would you get married to me?” Kin

“Depends on you and what you want.” Leonard

“Let’s say I am madly in love with you and I want to get married, have three cats and a dog with you, in a home in Canada, where it’s just the twos of us, would say yes?” Kin

“It actually sounds nice, so yeah, I would. Why? Are you proposing? If so, you should have picked a better timing, we are literally in the middle of nowhere, going to the other side of the world.” Leonard

“I am just saying hypothetically, and I repeat, I don’t want to get married to you.” Kin

“Why? Is there something about me that you don’t like?” Leonard

“Your gender, I am more into women personally, you are a playboy and I don’t want to have trust issues in my relationship.”

“I can change for you.”

“They all say that.”

“So what are we going to do?” Lennon asked himself, trying to think of a way to survive this messed up world, the difficulty of their mission went from 0 to 100 real fast with no warning.

“We will learn how to survive.” Maya said, moving Noah away from her, after she noticed that he was uncomfortable sleeping in her lap.

She already made a plan in her head on what to do and that consisted of hiding and learning how to defend themselves, with Noah being the top priority.

“What do you know about the apocalypse? What made it happen?” Lennon wanted to know as much as informational as he could and Maya seemed to know a lot about it.

Before she could answer, they noticed Noah rolling in his bed and guessed that they were disturbing him, so walked to a desk, that was in a corner away from the bedroom, where Noah was sleeping and sat dow, Maya holding a glass of water and Lennon staring at her.

“Demons, they are going to take over the world and rule over humans.” Maya answered, her headache coming back, the answer was based on the memories, she got from the story, which were still a bit fuzzy and made her a bit confused, she was not able to differentiate between each memories, because she had three.

Her memories, Maya Freya’s memories and the soul following Noah’s memories, they were all mashed up together and made her headache worse, she was having a hard time trying to figure out which is the reality anymore.

Lennon noticed this and asked her if she was okay, she responded with a no and said that she had a headache, so he called the reception and asked them to bring them medicine for headaches.

While waiting for them, Lennon stood behind Maya while she was sitting and tried to ease the pain by massaging her head; Maya liked the massage but suddenly thought of something and held Lennon’s hand and asked: “Are you real?”

The thought that came to her head, was that maybe Lennon wasn’t from her world and was from another one or from this one, maybe nothing was real and she was just in a coma and imagining all of this.

Which world is real and which one was a dream? If Lennon was from her original world, does that mean he is real or is he just a book character? She wanted to know.

Maya asked him with such hopeless eyes, that made it hard for Lennon to think of it as a joke, and made him realize that receiving the memories, collapsing and having a headache had a bad affect on her so he answered honestly: “I am, would you like proof?”

“Yes.”

“Close your eyes.” And she did, which he didn’t expect, he expected her to turn back and ignore him, but she didn’t, which means, she really needed that proof, what to do?

Lucky for him, the bell saved him, he told her that he will go get it while she sat there and wondered what was going to happen if the bell didn’t ring, was he going to kiss her?

‘Why did you come that conclusion Maya? Of course not, he maybe was just going to tell me something from out original world.’ Maya didn’t want to think about it much, so she dismissed the earlier event and took the medicine when Lennon handed it to her.

“Want me to tell you the things I noticed as your neighbor?” Lennon thought of that way to prove that he was real, because as Maya’s neighbor in their world, he noticed a lot of things that not many people wouldn’t know.

‘See’ Maya thought to herself and nodded, as Lennon started listing things about her, her face kept getting red by the second, but Lennon didn’t stop.

“You leave the house each morning at 8:30am, cursing at yourself loudly for not being able to wake up early, you squeal loudly all night, we have thin walls by the way, you watch dramas and comment on the male leads with such loud voice, that it makes me feel like I am watching it with you, you burn what you cook at least once a week, you have a cat and a bunny, you love both of them and talk in baby voice with them all day…”

“Stop! That’s enough!!” Maya shut him up by closing his mouth with her hand, because she couldn’t afford her face getting anymore redder.

“But I can continue.” Lennon said in a muffled voice.

“I don’t want you to! How do you know so much about me?”

“Well we have been neighbors for five years and counting, and I can’t help but notice you, you are just so cute with your loud voice.” Lennon still remembers the day, Maya came to the apartment complexe he was living in, for a few months, he still remembers because of the way they first met.

On that day, he was coming down the stairs when he noticed something going up with a box full of plushies, the person was struggling to go up, because they weren’t able to see anything with the plushies blocking their eyes, so he went to help out but before he could call out for the person, the person was about to fall down, so he rushed to help them and hold their hand, while the plushies feel behind them.

The person was a man, who thanked him and then went to pick up the plushies, he helped as well and soon noticed someone filming them so he loudly said: “what are you doing?” To the person filming, who immediately put down their phone, with a blush.

It was a girl with ponytails and a mustache, she apologized and promised to delete the video she was taking. “Why were you taking a video anyway?”

“Live bl is a blessing.” She whispered, grabbed a plushie from the ground and ran up the stairs, entering the apartment next to his and that was how he met Maya.

To this day, he doesn’t know what she met with ‘live bl’ but he knows that he found her interesting after that day, he unconsciously became aware of her and she made it worse by her loud voice and the way she expressed herself, if just made him want to know more about her, it got to the point where he put headphones in to avoid listening to her voice, instead of going to her and asking to lower her voice, he was too shy and awkward to do that, and he would have never guessed that a few months after he started that tactic, they would be stuck in this kind of situation.

“Kill me, no actually I am already dead from the embarrassment.” Maya’s forehead was on the table and she didn’t want to lift it up.

“Don’t worry, when it got too much, I put headphones in or leave the house.” Sometimes, Maya would talk about personal stuff loudly and even cry on rare occasions, so whenever that happened, he would leave to the convenience store and get her something and give it to her, along with a written message, comforting her, but that’s a secret so shh.

Once Maya calmed down, she coughed with a slightly red face and told Lennon to get back to their topic, and to forget about the earlier issue and ignore it, it will be even better if he loses his memory soon but that’s an issue she can’t do right now, anyway, beck to our demons topic.

“What made the demons come to earth?” Lennon asked and Maya took a couple of minutes to think about, to consider if she saw why at any point and sure enough, she did.

“Hell became too small for them and they got sick of living in the underworld while humans were walking on earth.” Maya responded, the way the FL did when Noah asked her, a few days after they met; it was a new discovery for Noah, because he thought that the demons wanted to conquer the world and get rid of humans entirely, but if that was not the case, then they could live along side demons on earth, but how?

Noah was able to find the answer in his dimension but will Maya and Lennon find the same answer or will they have a completely different answer? We will soon know so let’s get back to the story.

“Was anyone able to defeat them?” Lennon asked wanting to know if they can find that person and ask them to help them, or try to do what they did and defeat the demons.

“Yes, Noah. But he is too young now and we can’t depend on him, he is a child.” Maya forgot to add that the original apocalypse was twenty years from now, so they won’t be able to relay on the book’s characters to help them because probably all of them are kids or teenagers.

“We need to learn how to fight.” Lennon came to the obvious conclusion, after a few seconds of looking into space.

“That will be helpful but their levels are way higher than ours.” Maya said, knowing that they don’t have a chance to defeat or even stand against a low level demon for even two minutes, they will die in less that three minutes and it will be just a little exercise for the demon, a year is not enough to train, it will be better if they just hide till everything calms down.

“What levels?” Lennon asked, wanting to know more about the apocalypse, that flipped their life entirely and the way they are thinking about their future in this world, they cared about living like the previous owners and taking care of Noah, but now the only thing they have to care about is keeping Noah safe.

“There are 100 levels for demons and for humans, there are only 50 with a few exceptions who will become Noah and his comrades. For demons, from level 1 to 10, they turn into a grown demon, from level 11 to 20, they can beat up humans with one punch, from 21 to 30, they will be able to use the four elements, water, fire, wind and earth, from 31 to 40, they can use the darkness element, from 41 to 50, they can go up to the surface anytime they want, from 51 to 100, they become immortal or at least try to? If you reach a 100, you will become immortal. For humans, from 1 to 10, they can stand against a demon without suffering much injuries, from 11 to 20, they can kill a demon from the rank 1 to 10, from 21 to 30, they can kill a demon from the rank 11 to 20 and it goes on to 50, the demon has to be at least 10 ranks lower for a human to defeat it.”

Maya finished and gave some time for herself and Lennon to process what she just said; her words made it clear that they have no choice, unless they at least become at the tenth level, but how to do so? It was never explained and Maya never saw how Noah did it, he just had powers one day and defeated all demons that came his way.

“What about the ones who exceed 50?” Lennon asked, wondering if he could do it, he was thinking about how to rank up as fast as possible, to protect Noah, Maya and himself, because for him, surviving was fighting and to win a fight, you have to be the strongest.

“They can start using the four element and if they continue ta rank up, they can use the light element, which is deadly to demons but among all humans, only Noah was able to use it.” Maya informed him and Lennon closed his eyes and started thinking about what to do, if Noah was able to do it, it might be because he is the protagonist, so there was a high chance he won’t be able to exceed the fiftieth level.

And the other problem was that the original plot won’t start until twenty years from now, which means Noah still has a long way to go, but what if they spend it up?

“Hmm, we have to start training him.” Lennon said, thinking about the possibly of making Noah exceed the fiftieth level at his teenage years; Maya took his words in another direction and thought he wanted to harshly train their Noey to fight off demons as a child.

“What? No! He is three years old!” She strongly denied and showed her disapproval in Lennon’s decision.

“Four in five days and I am not saying I am going to push him to do anything he can’t, just some fighting classes for kids so he can defend himself.” That’s what Lennon had in mind for now but it will soon change after a few months, when things start getting more serious.

“No, if he wants to defend himself then he should hide, that’s what we are going to teach him.” Maya was opposing the idea of fighting, for her, the best tactic was to hide and protect themselves with knives if things go wrong.

“I don’t agree, what if they find him?” Lennon didn’t like the idea of hiding, because it will one day fail, if not on the first day, it’s better to be prepared than sorry, they can still hide but they have to train, not just Noah but them too.

If they want to stay alive in this world next year, they have to at least know some martial arts, know how to use weapons and vehicles, that’s the bare minimum, he wasn’t even considering the resources they will need, the place they are going to stay at, the informations they will need, there are a lot of things to consider for this apocalypse, so they will have to stay up all night to discuss it.
