Protect Him

  Layla was surprised to hear those words come out of her brother’s mouth, those were crazy and obsessed people words, and shouldn’t have come out of her brother’s mouth but they did and now, she had to calm him down and make him realize that what he said right now was scary and would make Kin run the other way if he heard it.

  “Lu, my dear brother, I know your jealous levels are high but that is not the answer, Kin couldn’t even stay in the house for more than a week before deciding to have a job, imagine a cage, he would die, literally.” Layla explained and continued to explain how bad of an idea it was until Lucas’s hand on the steering wheel got slightly loose, then she tried to educate him on a way to make Kin realize his feelings.

  “Feelings? What feelings?” Lucas asked with a confused expression on his face as if he had no idea what that woman beside him was talking about.

  “Oh yeah, you are dense, think about it before you go to bed, why do you care about Kin a lot and why do you want to monopolize him for yourself, that’s my advice for you.” Layla said, right before the car stopped in front of their home, she got down and left Lucas in the car, with multiple thoughts and questions that he had no answer to.

  He eventually got inside the house, but even after he got in bed, he struggled to sleep, he thought about what happened earlier with Layla and what happened in Leonard’s house, it was the first time he ever felt that much anger towards someone, for doing nothing, and it was kind of nerve-racking for him, ever since he dropped Kin off at Leonard’s house, he was thinking about what they were going to do and why he went to his house in the first place, he couldn’t focus on his work at all and he regretted letting him go, he should have gone with him, because that way, he may have been more relaxed and not feeling as if he lost his kidney or heart to someone.

 He was overreacting, yes, but he never expressed this kind of feeling before, not even for a brief moment, even when he had lovers, he never felt this kind of jealousy; in any normal situation, with anyone else, he wouldn’t care about what they did and why did it, it was whatever for him because they didn’t matter, but Kin did, he was the person who was always with him, took care of him, loved him throughout everything and looked over all his flaws, and he doesn’t want him to hate him for having this kind of feeling; which would never happen in reality, he knew that very well, Kin would never hate him, for any reason.

  It took hours but Lucas fell asleep at almost 3 am after he determined he hated Leonard and wanted him to be as far from Kin as possible, he was just overthinking and Layla didn’t know what she was talking about, she was 17, what did she know? He was the adult and he would know if he had feelings for someone and he didn’t, he……. did………not.

The next morning, Kin found himself in bed, with Layla on his side, he didn’t remember how he got back home but he was glad he did, he even cuddled Layla to get a bit of warmth, that he didn’t get in the bathtub yesterday, which Layla welcomed with open arms, literally and they stayed in bed from another half an hour, until Layla’s alarm went off and she had to get up.

  She lazily got up from the bed with a pout, that soon turned to a smile when she saw Kin, she hugged him and told him good morning, he replied with a good morning and told her to get up and get ready, she did so with reluctance, he also got up to make breakfast.

  And at 8 am, Layla and Lucas were ready to leave, they only had to get a kiss from Kin to get going, and this time, he was the one who kissed them, because he was in a good mood and that made them in a good mood; that was until, they got in the car and Lucas said to Layla: “I want you to protect Kin from Leonard in the future, if he tells you they are going out together, you go too and stick between them.” Lucas was not fond of Leonard anymore, not after what happened yesterday and he was going to make sure he wouldn’t be in contact with Kin alone again.

  “Why? What did he do?” Layla asked with worrisome written all over her face, she thought Leonard was a good person, based on what Lucas described him to me before, was he not?

  “He…. he forced himself on Kin!” Lucas lied between his white teeth and even though he felt bad for his lie, he had no plan to retreat his statement, because they needed to protect Kin. He didn’t trust Leonard anymore, he locked Kin in his house and only god knew what they did in there by themselves and Kin wouldn’t tell him anything so he took matters into his own hands.

  “What?” Layla was shocked, did Leonard change in this life? Was he not the sweet man she once knew? But if her brother was the one saying it then it must be true. “That piece of s**t!” Layla’s emotions towards Leonard shifted a 180 because she cared way more for Kin than she did towards Leonard, he was her first and only love but Kin was way more than that, he was her world and she wasn’t going to let anyone hurt him and with that, her hatred for Leonard was planted in her heart and she was ready to protect her older brother from that monster.

  The only thing she didn’t expect was for that moment to come as soon as the evening of two days later, where Kin had plans to meet up with Leonard in a park, she had to go and sabotage whatever plan Leonard had, and to do that, she skipped work and told her coworker to cover up for her.

  On the other side, Kin quickly got ready, because Leonard suddenly told him to meet him in a park on short notice, to meet him at 2 pm and it was 1:15 pm. Apparently, he got the information, he wore the same clothes from yesterday with different shoes, because he had just worn them for a night and he looked good in them, he styled his hair fast, then he got his phone and wallet, he closed the door to the house, with Layla’s keys that he still had, and walked to the stairs.

He stood in front of the street and tried to get a taxi since he doesn’t know what bus to take, even though the bus stop was only a few blocks away from where he was, he would need to ask Lucas or Layla about this and how to know which was which, but for now, he would allow himself to get a cab, which was harder than he thought, it took ten minutes to get one, luckily he left the house at 1:20 pm and the middle of the city was only 15 minutes away, so the park couldn’t be that far away from it, he was going to be there on time.

  His prediction was correct, he reached the park at 1:50 pm and he couldn’t see Leonard anywhere, so he guessed that he came first this time, which made him quite disappointed, he was such in rush and had to wait now; he took a seat at a nearby bench and took out his phone, he sent Leonard a message that he was in the park waiting for him, in front of a big tree and a fountain.

  Leonard was driving when he got two notifications, one from Jenny, one of his girlfriends, and the other from Leonard, he knew that from the sound, because he gave each a distinctive sound effect, he was supposed to meet Kin in ten minutes but why did Jenny send him a message? He got curious and read the messages at a red light, their messages were like so:

I am waiting for you in the park, in front of a big tree and a fountain Kin

I want to see you, I am waiting for you to come and take me to another world with your magic ;)  Jenny

  As much as he wanted to say yes to Jenny, he already made plans with Kin and he was a man of his words, so he told Jenny that can’t come at the moment, which got her upset but she would be happy again once he purchases a makeup collection for her.

   While Kin was waiting, he got a message from Layla, that she was coming to see him in the park, that’s a problem. Did he regret telling Layla the exact location where he was meeting Leonard? Maybe but surely, he knew it wasn’t not going to turn out well for anyone.
