After Kin locked Leonard in his car, he went to get Jack and put him in the back of the car, without letting Leonard run away; he then got in the car and started driving, while Leonard was trying to convince him to drive to his workspace, Kin stayed quiet and didn’t respond until Leonard mentioned that he wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight and would prefer to spend his time, rather than thinking about what happened.
“I will stay awake with you.” Kin replied and glanced to Leonard as if he was telling that he needed a better reason to make him spend this kind of night alone; he wasn’t going to leave him, while his ex-girlfriend just got rushed to the hospital, because of his unconscious cousin.
“The whole night?” Leonard asked, to intimidate but Kin wasn’t’ going to give any time soon.
“The whole night.” Kin said with a determined look on his face, which made Leonard pop a small smile, that soon disappeared when an ambulance went past them; Kin noticed that change and tried to help. “Don’t think about it, she is will be okay.” Kin tried to take Leonard’s mind off of it but he didn’t succeed, he just made it worst.
“But what if she is not? What then? Jack will have to live with the knowledge that he killed someone, that is if Natasha’s family didn’t attempt to kill him, he is only eighteen, he still has a long life ahead of him, and I destroyed that, his life is ruined, because of me.” Leonard wasn’t worried about himself, in the situation, not the media finding out and destroying his image, or what Natasha’s family could do to him; all that he was worried about, was Jack, what would happen to him after this, how it could affect him, what kind of impact this incident would put on him? that was all he could think about, and it was driving him crazy, with regret; for letting Jack by his own and in his house, knowing what Natasha was capable of.
“Don’t jump to conclusions, nothing happened yet, don’t look at the worst outcome and try to think of solutions, not consequences.” Kin was trying to look at any positive side he could find, the full half of the cup, but Leonard was looking at the empty one.
“What solutions? Her family is probably all killers, what can I do?” Leonard only saw Natasha’s family once, when Natasha invited him over for her twin brother’s birthday.
Natasha was the youngest of five siblings, and she was the only girl, naturally, her brothers were extremely protective of her, she was their queen and they treated her as such, maybe that what caused her to feel entitled to everything and anything in life, but that didn’t matter, what mattered was that her brothers would kill anyone who would try to harm her, emotionally or physically, and the only reason, nothing happened to him for breaking up with Natasha, was because she didn’t tell them, how he knew? She threatened him with them, that she would tell them and make them burn his face and step on his bones.
He ignored that threat, he knew how much Natasha liked his face, she would never do such a thing, because, in her head, he would come back to her one day, and she wouldn’t want to date someone with a deformed feature.
But forgetting about Natasha, she wasn’t as dangerous as her family was, especially her father and mother, particularly her mother, who loved her daughter a lot, because she always wanted a daughter; he talked to her on her son’s birthday and even then, at such a happy occasion, her attention was on Natasha and him, she even sat him down and explained to him how much she loved Natasha, showed him pictured and told him stories, again, on her son’s birthday.
Just thinking about what Natasha’s mother would do, made him want to curl up in a ball and do nothing, but regret his decisions; Kin wasn’t going to let him do that.
“A lot of things, hide Jack and send him somewhere where they can’t find him, explain to them what happened, look for a way to make them forgive you, show them your remorse and your regret.”
“Would that work?” Leonard was starting to get a little bit hopeful, maybe he would be able to save Jack, from that family.
“Yes, let’s just hope for the best, okay?” Kin stopped the car and put his hand on Leonard’s, he squeezed his hand slightly and reassured him with a smile, that everything would be okay.
“Okay.” Leonard nodded, which made Kin’s smile grow wider and let go of Leonard’s hand; Kin exited the car and went to open the door, while Leonard sat there and wondered why his hand was getting warmer by the second, and why Kin’s smile was stuck in his head.
“Come on.” Kin said when he went to carry Jack inside and saw that Leonard still had his seatbelt on. Leonard woke up from his daze and walked out of the car.
After they got in, Kin put Jack in Layla’s bed, made sure he was comfortable before he left, and closed the door on him, he then, went downstairs and asked Leonard to help him get Nicholas in his room, where he was going to put Lucas, Layla, and Nicholas, because his bed was the biggest; since Layla and Lucas planned that before they moved here, they made his bed the largest, which came in handy today.
“What now?” Leonard asked when they walked out of his room and left the three to sleep deeply.
“We eat dinner, let’s go.” Kin held Leonard’s hand and walked him downstairs, so he doesn’t refuse and run away somewhere.
Leonard looked at their intertwined hands and wondered why his heart was so fast, what was the meaning behind this?
