The next morning, Kin woke up with a slight headache but he ignored it and head out to the location, they agreed to meet, after he changed his clothes to be more casual, with black sweatpants and a grey hoody, he put on some deodorant and hoped for him and Lucas to agree because he needed a bath or at least a shower, he should have gone to a hotel yesterday, why did he have to get lazy? No time to regret though, he had to go.
Because he had Layla’s car and woke up earlier than he was supposed to, blame it on his paranoia and anxiousness, but anyway, he arrived at the place, a bit early and was able to go gather his thoughts while he waited.
‘I have to be open-minded, he is only 19, he is going through things and doesn’t know any better, he might have confused his feelings and thought that he loved him like a lover instead of a brother, that could happen, it happened in the old days and it could now too. But what if his feelings were true? What if he did love me or the original Kin or whatever? What then? What can I do to stop those feelings from existing? The easiest thing would be to distance myself from him but how could I do that when I am supposed to be taking care of him? The next best thing is to make him fall for someone else but how and would he agree?’
The chain of thoughts didn’t stop until Lucas arrived, an hour late, with mud all over him and with some scratches on his elbow and some on his face.
“I am sorry I am late.” Lucas said with an apologetic smile, not paying that much attention to his appearance.
“What happened to you?” Kin asked worriedly as he got up to check on Lucas, he was messed up, his face was red from the scratches and his elbows were slightly bleeding, even his pants were a bit torn up.
“I got into an accident, but it isn’t that bad, don’t worry, let’s talk.” Lucas said and was about to sit down but Kin stopped him and said that they were going to the hospital, Lucas denied, and sat on the ground and didn’t budge, saying that he wasn’t moving if they didn’t talk about his feelings.
Kin didn’t want to talk while Lucas was looking like he was about to fall because of the pain, so he suggested that they go home and get him treated there, and talk as well, it would be two birds with one stone, and in that way, they would be more comfortable, because sitting in a forest while Lucas was looking like that would be a pain in the a*s, and he could get infected at any given moment.
After Lucas heard the word home, he agreed immediately and got up, ready to leave with Kin; as he ignored another call from the person he got into an accident with, he walked to Layla’s, which was Kin’s car at this point, with Kin, helping him walk because his knees ‘hurt’, or that’s what he said.
While Kin was driving them to the house, he asked how the accident happened and Lucas replied with: “I was waiting at a red light and as soon as it turned green, I sped up and because someone from the other roadside did the same and came flying, I couldn’t stop the car and we ended up crashing; we didn’t have big injuries though.” Lucas said, trying to make the situation as simple as possible, even though the other person had glass stuck to his arm and he had some on his leg and arms too, that he removed before getting to Kin.
At first, when he got into the accident, he thought he wouldn’t make it to Kin, but after he considered it for ten minutes, he said to himself, screw it, gave his number to the other person, and told them to call him when the police arrived because he had an important matter to attend.
“You should have stayed at the site though.” Kin said and sighed at Lucas's uncared behavior, the person involved in the accident must be pissed because of it, not to mention the police. But luckily, they were rich and well known in the city so it doesn’t matter what Lucas did because it would be solved in under a day and if their parents got involved, it would be solved in under an hour.
“But I miss you.” Lucas said in a pitiful voice, with big doe eyes, and Kin couldn’t scold him any longer and just said: “I miss you too and I am sorry I left, I just couldn’t stay with you in that period with that knowledge but I am fine with it now.”
“Really?” Lucas asked with hopeful eyes, he hoped that Kin understood his feelings and accepted them at the very least but that wasn’t the case.
Kin would never understand him, not now, not ever, as sad as that was, he would never be able to change that, for this Kin.
“Yeah, you are in your early twenties, you are single, just had a traumatic experience that involved me so I don’t think it’s something unusual, you only need to find a lover and those feelings will seem as if they were never there.” That’s the conclusion Kin came up to with the thinking he got to do in the last two hours of him waiting for Lucas, and that seemed like a pretty good explanation for what Lucas was feeling.
Lucas hated the conclusion Kin came to but he knew he couldn’t change his mind because he seemed or pretty content with it, and also because he didn’t want him to run away again, he decided to agree with him and say: “Want to bet?”
“On what?” Kin asked with a bit of confusion, on what Lucas might be allotted to.
“On whatever my feelings will be gone if I get a lover,” Lucas said with a slightly angry expression on his face, he hated that Kin couldn’t get him but couldn’t blame him either, so he decided to just go along with him and make him believe that his feelings were legit.
“Hmm, sure why not?” Kin said with delight, that his plan all along and Lucas just made it easier for him.
“Great and I will even let you pick my partner.” Lucas said, to make it seem as if he didn’t even care about who the person he was going to date, all that mattered to him was for Kin to understand what he felt.
“Ooooh, that would be fun, what’s your type?” Kin commented to make the tension a bit better and he certainly did, in the wrong way.
“A guy who is willing to sacrifice his life for another person and someone who can love with no boundaries or demands, good luck.” Lucas said with a smirk and Kin could only stare and wonder where he would find someone with that specific description.
